For the most part, I'm satisfied with the care that my mother receives. The staff are involved, from the Executive Director to the CNAs. I see them on the floor often. They know all of residents and the residents know all of them. I gave my mom a birthday (93) celebration, not only did they offer the room but they prepared the area. They set up the table for the guests with table clothes and silverware and table flowers. It was beautiful. For the first time in probably 4 years, since my mom hasn't been able to take of herself, am I able to visit with her without being on duty. It's not as clean everyday as I would like it to be every day but they immediately fix the problem. They can't seem to keep a cleaning company but I'm there often so her room is pretty clean. The staff is fantastic. Upper management and staff. The CNAs are so caring and loving. The nursing staff are thorough. I feel that they are fully invested in the care and wellbeing of the residents. The maintenance men, the kitchen staff and chef are involved. The food is good. I've been invited to several activity events (a Tea) along with eating lunch with my mom sometimes. When I gave my mom her birthday party, they were in a meeting discussing her party that was to be held the next day. Her party was part of the agenda for the weekend. They have great activities coordinators. They have lots of fun with the residents. I love that they have their nails done weekly. It's a steep price but it includes everything. Meals, cleaning the suite, laundering clothes, medicine dispensing, PCP. It's seems to be cheaper than other facilities and it has, to me, a few more perks. The price has gone up several hundred dollars since July this year.

A caring facility

Overall, Highlands on the East Side is a caring facility and I would recommend it to others. I think they lack the proper supervision, especially the overnight shift. Housecleaning could use a cleaning lesson, especially on how to properly clean a bathroom. Just like everything else, if you're not happy with the service(s) you bring it to someone's attention. Sometimes it gets fixed right away and it doesn't happen again often and other times there is no change and you have to contact the Executive Director. The food is hit or miss. Not to say it's not good, just that it could be much better. Maybe different cooks on different days. Moving day was easy, the Marketing Director was there to help welcome my mom. The staff introduced my mom to the other residents, they had tea and dessert that day. It's pricey, but it's all inclusive.

A Great New Home for Mom

My Mom is a resident at Susan Bailis Assisted Living Community and everything has been good for her at this facility so far. The staff is very friendly and diverse and helpful if there is an issue. The housekeeping is consistently good and unobtrusive. The facility was extremely helpful in the moving process, contacting the previous facility and facilitating arrangements wherever possible. They were also very helpful in preparing the necessary paperwork required in an interstate move. I would recommend Susan Bailis Assisted Living Community to others.

Review for Windrose at Weymouth

We picked this community, because we wanted a place that was only for memory care. She'd come from an assisted living facility with an attached memory care unit, but they did not know how to handle her and her Alz-related behaviors. The memory care facility attached was beyond our means. She would have been out of money in less than 8 months. So, finances were a factor as well. Windrose has a low-income program for residents who run out of money. We would say we received an overwhelming flurry of texts and phone calls when we went on the A Place for Mom site. We had started looking into nursing homes for my mom when [name removed] at Windrose called. We almost dismissed her, saying we think we're looking at a nursing home. But something told us not to hang up. When we told her all our concerns, she made it sound like Windrose was absolutely the place for someone with Alzheimer's and bad knees. She worked with us to find a way to make it work, both financially and physically. In assisted living, my mother was alone in her apartment many days, and she was fearful being alone. At Windrose, they make sure their residents are up and out of their rooms, in a community with other people. My mother's physical and cognitive issues remain, but emotionally she's doing much better. She is happy once she's out and about with other residents.

Overall quite satisfied based on limited experience

Since everyone at Windrose has memory issues the staff really know how to deal with them on a daily basis. And they are willing to customize the daily routine. The people are helpful and compassionate. They understand that not all the residents fit in the same box, following the exact same routine. This review was done with a 2 month care experience. That's a very limited time.

Lots of Positives; Room for Improvement

The transition was well done. The facilities are lovely. Communications can be lacking. They are understaffed. Staff could be more discreet in public areas to not discuss tenants. It does seem safe and tenants are known. They are not terribly "hands on" unless an emergency.

My review of Highlands on the East Side

We think that they are very caring, but it has been hard at times to really assess things with all of the covid restrictions, and some still being in place. We still cannot freely come and go to see our loved one. Only recently have we been able to see his room. The community does strike us as a no frills place, it is kind of older. It does not impress you with the building or its surroundings. However that is not what is important to us, what is important to us is that they care for him and respond to us which is exactly what they do.

A friendly, caring environment that provides many opportunities for residents

The community is always clean. Every time we visit, my mother's apartment is always clean and the bathroom is always clean. Very high marks for cleanliness. Some of the staff is a bit friendlier than others, but they are all great with the residents. The care could be improved for the higher needs residents. The staff is really good about engaging the residents in activities. If a resident does not want to participate, they are good about encouraging them to do so in the future. Corcoran House is definitely worth the price. During the Covid-19 pandemic, we think Corcoran House is doing everything they can do protect the residents. During the community lock down, the staff has really stepped up to assist further than usual. It has been very difficult for my mother to be in quarantine.

The story to end all stories!

After weeks of verbal and email messages and sending documents piece meal and telling the staff we where coming in on Saturday, NO ONE was here! On THE WAY HERE WE RECEIVED A TEXT MESSAGE THAT WE NEEDED BIRTH CERTIFICATES! We had to leave our truck over the weekend in the parking lot(TEMPS WHERE IN 90'S). Wife got hers Monday morning at the city hall in Providence. Her BC was not enough = mine was still in the truck somewhere in a box. Had to unload truck on to sidewalk(someone took two boxes!) Movers came at 1 PM. Manager still would not let us move into hallway until 4PM. That management has now been replaced with an really OUTSTANDING person! NO comparison!! Tenants really great! The 1st floor window blinds have too short wands! Aluminum windows are not good. Window screens are on the INSIDE!! AWESOME maintenance staff! Adjacent building owns the garden area. Photos do not really show what it really looks like. Hopefully things like that will change.

Attentive Staff!!

My mom has recently made the move into this community and she is getting better day by day in her new living environment. I am overall comfortable with the care she has been receiving and the staff are always attentive to her needs. I am pleased to see them doing there best to try and keep her happy and involved in different activities and events. I will say there meals need improvement. I have noticed everything seemed to be over cooked and the quality in how they cook is poor.
