The Highlands is horrible we are moving my mother next week , really don't have to say more than that , It's a terrible memory care facility with very high turnover of staff , weekends barely staffed etc etc etc ... Less then a year my mother fell twice broke 3 ribs and no one found her for an hour !! On the floor , she also got a gash in her head from hitting the night table and needed several stitches , they don't check on them as they say they do , the staff changes weekly it seems with zero dementia experience! None , even the director there has changed 4 times in the last year , It's a mess and a joke and not safe IMO , we are moving her next Thursday to Anchor Bay memory care and it's 1000 cheaper per month and they have fantastic reviews ! The Highlands needs a lot of work.

Imagine giving your physically healthy, eighty-five-year-old mother to alleged professional caretakers in late [date removed] and paying [fee removed] per month only for her to wind up in the hospital dehydrated just when the bulk of the money is running out and PACE funds are going to start in late [date removed]? If a family member paid themselves [fee removed] out of their relative’s bank account then that person suddenly became ill, that person would be suspicious, but if you are an assisted living facility, it is business as usual and rationalized away as natural because the person is old and has dementia. This woman entered the physically healthiest person in the facility, even more fit than some of the staff, and left wheelchair bound the rest of her life, left too weak to survive for long after leaving. The hospital stated that she did not have a UTI and could determine no other causes. The business side was worse.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. After much research, my daughters found this facility for my ex-wife who has Alz Dementia. There were nothing but problem from the very beginning. I live with eldest daughter so I experienced all the phone calls first hand it was ridiculous. The facility itself was dirty (they had mice and bugs). The staff was constantly changing. The staff would sleep, eat and chat on the phone in the dining room while on duty. They continually called 911 and sent her to various hospitals for no reason. They finally sent her to the ER and would not let her return. Now she’s stuck admitted into a hospital for the only reason being this facility would not let her back in (which my attorney advised is against the law). Staff and management have no compassion. Please read all the reviews and trust them when making a decision on this facility.

We moved my mom into Generations at Prospect House in [date removed] since then it's been nothing short of living nightmare. I would arrive to find my mom had not been showered and her hair would be so greasy. Her bed would have urine stained sheets. Her laundry would be over flowing. We were getting calls that she was falling every single day (she never fell before she moved to Prospect). They would send her to different hospitals for no reason. She was not given her meds properly. On more than one occasion I found her pill packs not even opened (morning or night). I arrived to find some of my mom's pills either on the ground or in the trash. Again with no explanation. The overnight checks were not done and were not signed off on. My mom's personal belongings were missing all the time. Someone stole her cell phone. The executive director is never on site. Nurses are never visible. If they do respond to emails it's saying "we need to re-train our staff". Absolutely horrible!

If you are looking to send a love to an assistant living don’t send them here. From the Director to some of the employees they treat family members and residents horrible. Things are constantly missing out of my grandma’s room. It’s been address but nobody’s held accountable. And they do not take care of residence in the memory care unit as well

If your looking for a beautiful building you found it. If your looking for good care for your loved one...Run. Memory care unit is a joke. Don't get fouled if they tell you there is nurse coverage, that just mean, somewhere, but have fun finding one. The staff is basically non existent ,and is not trained at all in memory care, and are awful to the patients. Everything you buy for your love one, disappears the next day. Absolutely no accountability at River Mills.!

We moved our loved one after COVID had started, there was a lot of things that were promised to us that were not delivered because of the shut down. They had closed down the amenities before our loved one moved it and was not upfront about it with us, However they did offer a lot of amenities, but due to COVID our loved one was not able to experience them.

If you are considering Prospect House for a dementia patient, look elsewhere. The activities are pathetic...they will throw a CD into a music player most times. The level of care is not safe. You will also be nickled and dimed for every charge. Assuming your loved one deserves a warm and family-like environment, take a pass on this one. They deserve better.

No pets. Only one occupant. Near bus line. Very hard to judge an empty facility. Facade would make Ma hang herself. Rooms very small. No private bathing area. Meals taken with staff for monitoring. No trips to Boston - they stay local.

I was VERY put off by what I saw when I toured. The woman who gave me the tour was unpleasant, and just the general atmosphere was very depressing. I don't have anything positive to say about this one, and I would not recommend it to anyone.
