Old derelict building. Loud annoying music through hallways, either rap or Elvis all day over and over. Half time food has to be thrown in garbage. Change your own bed. No regular cleanings of restroom. No activities. Clients wait around for hours for scheduled activities. Carpeting is black and filthy. On holidays staff has own parties and closes windows off so residents don’t see. Terrible inappropriate holiday decorations, sculls and spiders for Halloween, grinches for Christmas. Personal items disappear from rooms. Currently one resident has barking dog across from dining room barking at everyone non stop. Pay lots extra for bathing help, med distribution etc. no transportation. Verbal abuse to residents. Loud Spanish speaking workers in cafeteria, not peaceful or enjoyable. Inappropriate touching by cafeteria workers with residents during Covid and serving food. Don’t send a loved one here.

They make a lot of promises to take care of your family. It was less than 30 days after moving my father into the facility, when we realized that he needed to be moved elsewhere. They don't care about their residents in the least bit. It seems like every employee there hates their job and the residents are nothing but a bother to them. I was scared this is what all assisted living facilities where going to be like, but as soon as I moved him I realized how horrible the staff at Aldea Green were. I've spoken to two other families that have had horrible experiences with them and my father has met at least three other residents where he lives now that had a bad taste in their mouth from Aldea Green and that was their main reason for living in the new facility where my father now resides. If your family member is capable of fighting back and protecting themselves and basically being able to live independently, then it may be worth the value. But what I saw of the residents at Aldea, they don't seem very happy to be there and it has the appearance of a place you go to die. No quality of life whatsoever. I would never recommend this place, not even if it was free.

Extra care is very expensive and the staff complains when they have to do it.

This place is only good if your parent(s) are very independent and require no staff assistance. The staff are caring enough but they are never around to do their jobs: showering/bathing assistance, dressing assistance, toileting, etc., and we paid for all these services in addition to the rent which went up every year. When Emeritus sold to Brookdale the quality of the institution fell sharply and quickly. Its appeal is the size of the rooms and cost but trust me when I say it is worth it to pay more and actually get the services for your loved one. My parents would go weeks without showers if I did not assist them and the same with laundry and housekeeping. The facility is dirty and smells horrible...beware.

Not for assisted living. Consistent personnel turnover in clinical and managerial. Make rounds every 2 hours so mom laid on the floor for over an hour when she slipped to the floor from her wheelchair. Slow to contact doctor for medicine or changes to meds. No contact when a change in status. No care plan. Would not recommend this facility to anyone.

I have had nothing but problems since Brookdale took over ownership of this facility. They have a consistent turnover of personnel from the CNA’s to the administration staff. They have been lax in care, fall procedures, clothes have disappeared, medications have been late and not returning calls. I would NOT recommend this facility to anyone. Very poor.

It was horrible here and we got dad out in 4 days. They [Removed] and do not provide healthy protection. He was left soiled for hours and once he was unchanged since we left him from the day before. The bathroom was dirty with unsanitary stuff and they promised to clean the bathroom by the time we came back from an appointment. They didn't say sorry and when we tried to talk to the director, she said she would call us back but she never called back. We requested a refund and even asked to prorate the 4 day he was there. The community is totally unhealthy and it was a terrible experience. I do not recommend that place to anyone.

Not ideal for those needing help an support in their daily activities. They are only concerned about money.

Do your research before signing the contract. Check survey reports, both annual and complaints. Research medical malpractice lawsuits settled and pending. Meet with department heads and ask whether they are willing to accommodate special requests, particularly dietary preferences. Ask the director how complaints are handled and gauge for yourself whether she is realistic and honest, or looking to sweep issues under the proverbial rug. Question the nursing team as to their communication with families and handling of falls and other incidents. If these responses don't leave you with a feeling of comfort, keep looking! Decide for yourself why this facility is the cheapest in the area.

Corrupted. Executive Director and Food Service Director worked together previously. After numerous attempts and complaints. She still won't do anything about his conduct to employees. They act like its OK to scream and holler at people. They have to try hard to show residents they even care about them. Behide their backs they complain and say its because they are old and don't know what they are saying. Total disrespect. Stay away if you truly care for your loved ones. You will be glad you did.

I would rate this place very low. Most of the staff are excellent, but they usually don't last long. All of them look overworked and tired. The building looks nice, but that's about it. The services provided by Brookdale leave a lot to be desired. I just found out they are raising their rates again so I'm making plans to move my mother out of there. I can get in-home care that is better and cheaper than this place.

Staff and management are not very responsive to patients needs. They constantly neglect important patient safety and health items. Staff acts helpful when visitors are there, but it's just an aCT. They take minimal care for thier patients at best. Would not recommended to anyone!

AWFUL CARE ! ROUDE STAFF and very neglectful of patients ! .......This facility is the worst place to send your loved one.I speak from experience when I say this! I wouldn't even send my dog Molly to this Seniour living facility. My grandmother dose not get the care she deserves and needs ! rite at this moment she is in the hospital with a compound fracture to her leg today is 3/26/2016 ! When learning about what happened all the lighthouse of middle river said was" she fell in the shower " they called the ambulance to get her to the local hospital ! I have been in my grandmothers living quarters time and time again and I know their is a chair railings and other stabilization their for her safety. Something dose not add up and please take this into consideration when you choose to send your loved one! At this moment my grandmother will not be returning to light hose senior living in Middle river because after three months of being in their care too many un answered things have happened to my Grandmother in this facility ! PLEASE ! Consider what I'm saying this all is true and I stand by my word this place is not worth the 5,000.00 dollars we send a month to keep my grandmother there! Yes five thousand dollars a month and some change ! It's not worth it please do not send your loved one !

This is a horrible place. Do not put any of your loved ones here and don't believe the commercials they are running about how they treat residents as family. It is so untrue. I can stress enough how terrible this place is. [removed] Call the Florida Ombudsman office to verify this information. My mother was left in bed for the first 18 days and not bathed despite our numerous calls and visits. She is a vegetarian and they tried to force feed her a hamburger, telling her it was a veggie burger. The staff picked her up by the waistband of her pants instead of assisting her in getting in and out bed. The staff is unfriendly and argue constantly with each other about who does the most work. Pendants are not answered timely. My mother called me numerous times to call the facility because it had been over 20 minutes with no response. The staff never arrived in time to get her to the potty, [removed] At the tour, the executives on site [removed] about the level of care my mother would receive. She is recovering from a stroke. The month she spent a Brookdale Brandon set her back [removed]. I had to put her back in a rehab facility as private pay which was about $[removed] per month to build her strength back up. The worst staff member I had interaction with was [removed], the Director of Nursing, [removed]. I never understood why she [removed] so much - it was strange the things she said. [removed] This place is not the place for a loved one.

I moved my grandmother to this facility in November of 2013. They really laid out the red carpet when we were shopping around for a home for her. The second we moved her in, things just went downhill from there. The staff was overworked and underpaid. The management was HORRIBLE. They would forget to take my grandmother for meals, she was often in soiled diapers, and her room was filthy. Minimum activities, if at all. The RN for the facility failed to obtain a prescription for my grandmother after she was discharged from the ER, which resulted in her getting readmitted to the hospital with a raging infection. I called the manager there, nothing changed. I called the director, still nothing. I called the regional manager, STILL nothing. Then they started complaining about how difficult my grandmother was and that they couldn't care for her anymore. I moved her out and it was the best decision I ever made. DO NOT move a loved one here.

A friend's mother was in Wynwood up until recently. Her mother needed to be hospitalized due to a lot of pain in her stomach and constipation. The nurse, the only nurse they have there, ignored the pain her mother told her that she had. After going back to the facility with a prescription from the doctor to continue on a regulated amount of stool softener, the nurse decided that her mother didn't actually need the full amount the doctor had prescribed and didn't give the full amount to her. Her mother ended up BACK in the hospital constipated AGAIN. Her mother is currently at a different facility. Wynwood needs a different nurse in this facility who doesn't think older people are making up stories about their pain and also doesn't think SHE knows more than the doctor when it comes to prescriptions! I would not go there as long as the current nurse is working there.

Unless your loved one is independent stay away from this facility! They are always having staffing issues, the a/c never works in the building, the staff is terrible to work with and the management is no better. Nurses and CNA's are so uncaring, it's pathetic! Try finding anyone to help you on a weekend after 5pm and you're in for a shock. Medicine carts left unattended in hallways, phone calls go unanswered and roll over to a fax! We never got the services that we were supposed to receive for our loved one. They never do a sanitized cleaning of the bathrooms - rarely - if ever do they clean the floors and shower - all they do is wipe the obvious. Roaches in rooms - Terrible place!
