My Mom lived at The Hearth in Franklin where the care level was poor at best. After much complaining and lack of results, we moved her to Brighton Gardens. It took about 4 weeks for Mom to readjust to a different place and to make some friends. She absolutely loves Brighton Gardens and the daily attention she receives. My sister and I are even happier because the staff there is excellent, caring and involved with the resident. Mom is 95 and in a wheel chair. She requires help with her personal care and needs. Her caretakers care.

We were very afraid of what it would be like for Mom in this new environment but in her first day she started chair excerises and more! I am only too happy to say how much more at ease our family is at the individual quality and professional care we have all been given. Many special thanks to all who have helped us feel we made the best choice for Mom.

I picked this facility for my Mother because we have a family member who has a loved one here and they seemed to really like it. I was on a time crunch to get my mom in and they accommodated us very quickly. So far we have been pleased with her care. All of the staff members here are nice and it’s a clean facility. The food is really good and they offer a lot of variety. For activities, they offer things like exercise classes, church services, and games. I would recommend this facility to other families.

They were a pretty good community to see and I thought is was a good tour. The person who showed us the place was professional and able to answer any questions we had. I saw the staff who were great and helpful. While nothing was wrong with the community, we thought it was not a good fit for a mom. The rooms were smaller and a spacious room was desired.

The staff at Brookdale are attentive and helping mom to adjust to living at this community. They are encouraging her to participate in some of the daily activities. The food is pretty good. The community is very clean and there is no odor. This is a smaller community and it has a homey feel to it. I would recommend this community.

I had been in this facility when I worked as a visiting nurse and knew it was clean and appeared well cared for. The individual rooms are large enough for a single bed, a dresser, a large chair, a bedside stand as well as 2 small tables one on each side of the chair. The heat and cooling is controlled in each room so the residents can have the temp where they want it. Each room has a full bath which features a walk in shower. There are also 2 closets in each room. The meals are served in a dining area that resembles a nice restaurant. The residents get a menu with choices for each meal. They can even order half entrees if their appetite is not very large. The basic rent covers the room, meals, laundry and weekly cleaning of every room. The beds are changed every week using the resident's linen and these are washed with the resident's clothing. Mom seems to be making the adjustment. The first night she was there another resident who is a ambassador came in and said she would accompany Mom to dinner and sit with her. Mom felt welcomed. Mom is starting to come out of her room more often. At 94 most of her friends are no longer living so she was pretty much a home body. But with the activities that are planned and the daily routine she seems to be interested in making friends. I would recommend this place to anyone, after all it is where my Mom lives.

My mother will be moving in next week. We researched many different independent/assisted living facilities in the area. Island Lake was by far the most upbeat, friendly and active community. Also, importantly, Island Lake has the services so that my mother can transition into higher levels of care should that be needed. One of the points that I really liked is the Freshman Program, where new residents are provided with a person to "show them the ropes" - and this phase continues for three months. This is excellent so that mom can get to know the services, meet all the staff at different times and meet other residents. The apartment is by far the largest and most comfortable apartment I had found in all my research. She has the one bedroom with a den, screened patio and full kitchen should she decide she wants to cook. We are looking forward to our move! Every community has their own "personality" -- this is very evident at Island Lake. It truly is upbeat and friendly with an attitude of caring.

Since my Mother in Law is only there on a short term basis I can only speak to the value during this short time. She was able to obtain a room on a half price sale that was affordable for her for 3 months. The facility is clean and updated and very nice. She is quite content here and at 93 enjoys the quiet. The staff are very nice and very helpful to her and to the family. She doesn't participate in any of the activities due to her health and shy personality but they do offer activities to those who are interested. However, the only downside would be the food. Since she is such an excellent cook herself she likes to enjoy good meals and unfortunately cannot say that the meals offered here are very good. Adequate at best. It is, I'm sure, very difficult to have meal planning that is amenable to so many ages and health issues. But for most dinners, I'm told, they are being served sandwiches and chicken. Not too much variety. Since she expects to be leaving in the near future and since she goes out with family for some meals she is able to tolerate the lack of variety. But all in all this is definitely a place that we would recommend if it is within budget for those who are looking for a nice, quiet, clean and welcoming facility.

We love the staff. They are very good to our loved one and us. The food is wonderful. The community is clean and well taken care of. The staff encourage him to participate in the daily activities. We are comfortable with him here and I would recommend this community.

The person that conducted my tour of this community was friendly. I did like this clean community however they did not offer the 24 hour dining service.

From my first encounter with facility and staff, our experience was nothing short of pleasant. Everyone is cheerful and very willing to answer questions. Since moving my mom into Brookdale she is so much happier. The other residents are people she can relate to and enjoys their company. It is so wonderful not having to worry about my mother's happiness and well being.

I think everything is going great so far. We haven't had any complaints about food or anything. When I visit it's clean and the staff is friendly. I think it was even a little less in price than a lot of the others we looked at. I would give them at least a four.

Brookdale Pleasant Prairie is not perfect but it is good. One thing the staff are very good at here is sharing information throughout the entire staff. Everybody is aware that my wife has Alzheimer. If there are ever any issues they know how to take care of them. The one frustrating thing is the meals are always late. It's at least 15 to 20 minutes late. Overall I am really pleased with this facility and the staff is just great and so nice.

They lost their housekeeper at Brookdale Pleasent Prairie but there is a new one starting. The director there needs to follow though a little better. He is a nice friendly guy but he just seems to forget a lot! The food is really quite good and mom is super fussy so that's saying a lot. Overall I am pleased with the facility.

Overall things are going very well for my loved ones at Brighton Gardens of Brentwood. Everyone is very friendly, and the care staff all seem professional and caring. The facility itself is attractive, well kept, and clean. They also do a great job with the food, my parents enjoy it, and it has been good every time I've tried it.

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. I was very very impressed by what I saw here! It is a beautiful, clean, well kept community, and the staff were all very friendly. And the food was the absolute best out of the many communities we looked at! However, the only room that was available when we toured was just too far away from the dining and common areas, Mom would have spent too much time walking back and forth every day.

We have been extremely pleased with all aspects of Vernon Woods Retirement Community. My mom is very well taken care of. She thinks she's at a "resort" because everything is so nice. We are lucky to have the opportunity to have her live at Vernon Woods.

Based on other places we looked at, for what we are paying for and what we are getting, it's a pretty good deal. They have the monthly activity schedule set out but from time to time, they don't happen. She loves the food there, and we have eaten there too, and it's very good. We are very pleased with them overall. When we first chose it, we met everyone, the sales staff, and the director, and we met the chef, and everyone was nice everywhere we went, but I liked the layout of the room. Before we signed any papers, we popped in at various times unannounced. We asked some of the residents questions and if they were happy.

The facility has very friendly staff and the atmosphere is very pleasant. My mother is much happier in this assisted living facility. However, repairs could be done in a more timely manner.
