Mom has been at Vernon Woods four months. At first I wondered if she would be able to handle it, but because of the patience and the helpfulness of the staff she has adjusted wonderfully. Her apartment is just the right size and has all the features that make assisted living desirable. The kitchenette provides a constant reminder that she's still independent although I don't think she uses it that much! But I appreciate it being there and consider it to be added value.

They're doing an excellent job here so far, I'd rate them four and a half stars across the board. They're doing right by me and my family, and we couldn't ask for more.

Everything has been going really well for my loved one so far! I really have no areas of improvement yet. Everything has been fine and I have no complaints!

It was not my mother's choice to leave her home, but my brothers and I were getting concerned about her living alone. We convinced her to take a tour of several places within a 10 mile radius of her home. A Place for Mom was very helpful in these recommendations. My mother decided on Chambrel because she really liked the rooms, especially the separate kitchen and the balcony. The staff and residents were all very nice and helpful. Mom has been a resident at Chambrel for about 6 weeks now, and she is enjoying the people, activities, and the ability to take the Chambrel van to shopping areas and other activities. She had to give up driving 6 mos. earlier, so continuing to live at her home without a car was very difficult for her. My brothers and I have a greater peace of mind knowing she is living in a lovely place where she is being looked after. Before she moved to Chambrel, she had been losing a lot of weight because she wasn't eating properly. Now she eats a light breakfast in her room and two full meals at lunch and dinner. She says the food is very good, and she enjoys talking to her meal companions. The medical personnel at Chambrel is in contact with Mom's doctor, so I know they are keeping on top of her medical needs. This is also a great comfort to her family. I highly recommend Chambrel to anyone trying to make the difficult decision of how to take care of an aging loved one.

We loved them! They are a small community, it's all secure. The residents had varied degree of abilities. They are only assisted living. It's a beautiful facility. Everyone has to beeped in at the door by a living person. So the security is very good. The food was good. They encouraged families to join for meals and would have events. For the major holidays, they would celebrate ahead of time, so that the residents didn't miss out if they couldn't join the family celebration at home. There were lots of opportunities for families to be involved.

We found the staff to be very friendly and professional. The surroundings are neat, clean and in good shape. They provide a variety of daily activities and encourage the residents to interact with each other.

Southland Suites is very clean and the staff is very nice. Unfortunately I wish I had known that my father's years of service did not qualify him for VA benefits; because of that we need to find a cheaper place, but Southland Suites have been very helpful and are working with us. They've allowed us to move him to a smaller room to cut costs. The staff has been very helpful and has always answered all of my questions.

We are really pleased with Vernon Woods. It is just a wonderful place. The setting is really beautiful. We are very satisfied with the care they are providing for our loved one. We are really happy with them and would recommend them.

The rivers has been good. The caregivers are kind and the residents make you feel welcome. The food and activities have been good as well

They are transitioning to new owners/management company so that has been a change - but I would still recommend. It's a good facility and has lots of kind/caring staff

It's been an adjustment for my parents. Probably the biggest complaint would be regarding the food. Sometimes it's cold, not always a quality meal. It seems a lot of food is not eaten by the residents. There was an issue with the laundry on one occasion but I believe that employee was terminated. I have expressed our concerns with the Executive Director recently. The staff seem very friendly and helpful.

I like the facility very much, but I find they're often out of caregivers and putting a lot on just one or two people. The one nurse there [name removed] the LPN is exceptional. She holds whole facility together when it comes to the nursing staff her and [name removed] the RN. The food is very good. The Chef [name removed] makes great soup. The receptionist [name removed] holds the front end together she's exceptional. Again, the only downfall is the lack of caregivers at times

Overall Everything is good. Could do with a few more activities. Staff is very caring and attentive.

Very good experience. Do your homework on pricing for apartments; level of care cost, transportation and laundry services. Then go to Aldea. I think families will find that they are just as competitive if not a little more than other assisted living in the area.

Most all personnel is great! Clean. Fixed things I complained about.

The staff is so friendly. And the residents really care about each other. Definitely recommend to others.

Overall, I have been pleased with The Rivers. Particularly during the recent ice storm and they're evacuation plan when the boiler broke. For the assisted living side, the food is much better than in the memory care side. But all of the staff, in either assisted living or memory care, have been excellent. The communication was a little bit lacking when they first converted to the new ownership, but otherwise I am still pleased with my choice.

They do get 3 meals a day and their rooms have recently been redone. My MIL has complained about the food lately. I'm not sure if them saving money or just giving her group less because they pay less and the ones that pay more sometimes complain about it. They seem nice and caring. She enjoys the exercise classes. They recently stopped giving them ice cream which has been a major complaint. They used to give them similar food to the independent people but now they're giving them AL food.
