A great place to really experiment with your happy.

The place is really good, and you can be very happy here if you make something out of it for yourself. There are plenty of activities and they are are a great place to really experiment with your happy, if you do art, take pictures, or explore music. You have to want to experiment and do things. I was a little bit nervous at first and it's awesome. The maintenance people will even brush your car off. The value is incredible. I only have to pay for phone and cable. It's different for different incomes, they work with you. Once a week they come and do some housekeeping. They have a swimming pool. If you have two or more people you can go in the pool anytime, they had a spelling bee, they do brain teasers, and puzzles to do on the mezzanine floor. They have two main entrees every meal, and salads and hamburgers cheesburgers, spaghetti, if you don't like what they are making for the main meal, you can have something else. The rooms are kind of like a college dorm. The only thing I would like to see better is if somebody would take care of the older people who say there is nothing to do.

Good Experience

My mother, she stayed there but she didn't end up staying there permanently. She moved back home because she was just doing a trial period and she decided that she would rather live at home. We chose it for the trial period because we liked the environment, the structure of the building, her apartment, and the pool to swim. Where she was the laundry room was close by and she was on the first floor she didn't have to go up and down stairs or anything. They were very welcoming and friendly and supportive of mom. They were trying to include her whenever there were activities. It was good.

Nothing To Do Within Walking Distance

My dad said he definitely would have moved to Concord Place if it hadn't been so far removed from everything. It's like an island in the middle of nowhere. Everything around it is all businesses so there is nothing you can do with in walking distance. Still being in a community where he could walk to different things was very important to him.

Good Value

I don't have experience with a whole lot of others but maybe I should say 5 for the value because being a non profit, they do seem to have lower prices than the other ones we saw. They have on-site doctors who have regular hours in the place so that's convenient if you need to see someone. They do have a pool, however, they don't want you swimming alone. They do have water exercises but for someone who wants to swim laps, it's not that useful. They give you two meals a day and you choose which ones. If you want a third one you pay for that. What's also nice is that if you need more care they can go up to Alzheimer's care at additional cost.

Could be trained better

The laundry is atrocious. They wash all the clothes with the towels and everything. When my dad uses his call button they don't always come right away or as fast as they should. I think they're understaffed. In the beginning they were a little rude. I told them immediately and it got better. I think they could train them better with the housekeeping so they take care of everything that needs to be done in one room and then move on to the next instead of just doing it a little at a time and having to come back.

We just moved my mother there and the supportive care program was the important part of our decision. She has limited funds for another year and a half and the supportive care program will allow her to keep her apartment once her funds run out. This facility, unlike others, accepts Medicaid. They have assisted living and senior apartments and the supportive care residents have their own building. They have personal assistance for dressing, laundry and housekeeping and escort services to dinner. They're competitive with a lot of other places (very expensive as a whole - the industry charges whatever the market will bear) but Victory Centre is cheaper than some others.

Hotel turned community

We chose this because my mom did not want anything to fancy and elaborate she wanted more of a plain Jane community. The building is really big and has several levels, it use to be a hotel that was converted to a senior community. We pay $1,400 a month for a pretty good size studio. They do not have a kitchen but 3 meals are provided daily. We had previous family members that lived here that had good experiences so we decided to use it again. It also happens to be very close to our family and provides a very convenient location.

A Friendly, All Inclusive Living Facility

This is an all in one community. You can spend the rest of your life at this community. They have activities for everyone. This is an all inclusive resort. They have homemade meals and the residents are able to order off menus. There are lots of selections or specials as well. There are three meals a day, and additional snacks if the residents would like. The apartments are like studios with a bathroom in them. There are coin operated laundry rooms in the building, or you have the option of paying the community to do your laundry. The community provides weekly housekeeping for the resident's rooms.

It is a good first step in retirement for people

The interior hallways are due for an updated and some modernization, but everything seems pretty clean otherwise. We thought the business side of things were very professional and they were very nice. When we moved in they made our loved one feel comfortable and were very flexible with our schedules which we appreciated.
