This is a Kincare home and we almost chose this one. The only reason we didn't is my mother-in-law wouldn't have had a private room. She is a very private person and that would have made her uncomfortable. This woman is the only one who had her inspections posted right when you walk in the door. Everything is right out there. You can see the kitchen where they cook everything and there were only 15 or 17 people in the whole facility which is great! They had some private and semi private rooms so if anything happens with the place we chose for my mother-in-law we will difinitely go back here and see if there is anything available. They looked to be a really good facility.

The staff is very helpful, caring, and treated mom like she was their own. The lead medtech [name removed] went above and beyond for her.

My husband was allowed to check out early without making contact with me. I left an emergency number because I was going to be out of the country, but my emergency contact was not notified. So he went home to an empty house. Also, the charges quoted during our tour were not the charges that we were presented with when I signed him in, and the person doing the intake was no longer employed there. They consequently agreed to the original quote, but the whole transaction experience made me uncomfortable. However, the facility is very nice. He enjoyed his experience there.

The friendliness and caring staff at Brookdale and the fact that the atmosphere is feels like I never left home.

The Team is very friendly and seem to genuinely care about the residents. My friend hasn't been there long so but so far she seems to be settling in just fine. I love the atrium with the birds, the activity director is friendly and engaging as is all the staff I have has the opportunity to encounter. Food is average as I have found in most facilities and the options limited. I would not categorize pre-packaged food as "Chef prepared" as presented.

Our dad has been at Brookdale San Marcos South for a couple of months and while not everything is perfect or has been exactly as promised, the staff and management and caretakers try really hard to resolve any issues that have come up. There have been water line issues that caused the dining room to have limited dining options. There was a recent Flu outbreak that caused the facility to have a version of a lockdown and extreme disinfection. The building could use some repairs. However, the staff seems to remain dedicated to caring for the residents and resolving issues very quickly. I feel Dad is in a safe place.

What we like the most about this community are the staff, the food and the location. Yes, we would recommend Brookdale San Marcos South to other families based on the experience we have had.

Building is old, which affects cleanliness as far as carpet is concerned. But they are painting and reflooring and refurbishing. This will help. Every member of the staff is courteous and friendly as well as being capable and willing to help in any situation. I have never had a problem with care. Of course, I treat them with respect and consideration in return.

I like it that everyone is so nice to my dog [name removed]. The nurse takes such good care of me. I'm liking BINGO. The food gets a little boring.

I like most of the things about our community. My favorite things are crafts and games. I feel safe and well cared for.

I did what I could most of the time I was the only one that came for that activity.

I would say that the atmosphere is welcoming and the court yard is wonderful. It's pet friendly and the rooms are spacious. They could improve by making it to where the person doesn't have to pay extra to eat in their room if they'd like.

It is now named Gemstone and I would give it a 4+ for those wanting a smaller home environment for residents that have limited mobility. If one needs space to walk there is limited room for this. My husband died a year ago shortly after he moved in. I have recommended this place to several neighbors and one is currently living there.

My dad is a patient and is very comfortable there. We love the staff and have a great relationship with staff and med techs.

I think they do a grand job. Where I am in life right now is not to hurry, and not to worry. I believe I can live up to that here at Brookdale. Everybody that works here has a wonderful attitude. I no longer cook for myself so it’s wonderful to have that task taken care of.

I think the peace and comfortable feeling I get while living here is wonderful. I don’t feel out of place. It’s home, my comfortable home. I feel very lucky to be here! If we come up with something that is a problem I feel like the door is always open. I am always helped to get a better understanding from staff. I don’t know what I would do with out them.

This is a nice place. The staff are very helpful with answering the family's questions.

I was very impressed with the sales lady who was showing us around on the tour. This facility was definitely my second choice. I had my husband with me and he was not impressed with the overall cleanliness or maintenance/upkeep of the facility.

Everything is very good.
