The first impression I got when walking into Brookdale was that of a friendly, home-like atmosphere. The staff is attentive and the helpful. I was impressed with the cleanliness and freshness of the unit when it was prepared for my mother. I have been very pleased with Brookdale.

Mom has lived at Brookdale Hamilton Wolfe for about 2 years. Eventhough she is very shy and quiet, the staff and residents made her feel welcome and at home from the very beginning. I must admit that at times, about a year ago, during the transition from Emeritus to Brookdale thing were a bit bumpy but I believe that is normal for most transitions. Things are fine now though. Recently upon her return from a hospital stay, mom has had to rely on the staff more heavily than normal. I have nothing but thanks and praise for the entire staff for all their hard work on her behalf, from the nurses to the food service director and her staff, the guy who cleans her room every week and everyone in between, which is a reflection on the director who has hired such a loving, caring, professional staff. If you are looking for a place for your loved one, I know how difficult it can be but Brookdale Hamilton Wolfe has made this difficult process so much easier for us. We love our mom immensely but could not keep her in any of our homes because we needed a place that could service all her needs 24/7. This place has been a God-send for us. Thank you, Norma, Carina, Elsa, Mary, Mary Alice, Dorothy, Pat, Lita, LaDonna, Marisa and everyone else whose names elude my mom at this time but who are always so gracious, giving, kind and caring to her.

First, I only resisted putting five stars because I'm not sure what an absolutely perfect Senior care center might look like. But I have no criticism. We placed a colleague in respite care. It was supposed to last a little over 3 weeks, but a health crises required us to end his care at Brookdale Shadowlade before the alloted time was up. I was especially pleased with the facility and the gracious care of the staff. I was out of town when our friend was under Brookdale's care, so I did not witness the care directly, but from my agent I gathered it was very good. My request for residency had to be processed quickly and the staff was very patient and did all they could, given the usual glitches, to get the process completed. Regarding cost per mo.: my friend did not plan to stay a month and stayed even less, and so not sure what price per month would have been but I do know that it cost approx. $2,000.00 less than other facilities we checked

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. I thought this was a very nice looking place overall! The facility was clean and well kept, the people were friendly, and it looked like they had a busy activity schedule! They did not provide age-in-place care, however, which is something I would prefer.

The place feels more like a home than a nursing facility. There are even dogs at the residence which make it feel like a home. It is staffed well and the food is prepared on site. Very helpful staff and the owner is very knowledgeable, being an RN.

One of the things I like so much about Brookdale Shadowlake (which was a key factor in our decision) is the size. It is a small home like place, which is what we wanted and really like. The people here (both the staff and the residents) are very friendly. Many of them (again, both staff and residents) have actually been here for 10 years or more, so you know it's good! We are very thankful, and would highly recommend Brookdale Shadowlake.

They are good, but I don't know if he is not allowing them to do somethings, or what, like bathing and shaving, or if they just aren't doing it. The people have been very good, the place has been very good. The food has been good, it's fresh and they take a lot of care, and they have a choice. Medication management is an extra cost. We liked the location of the available room. The rooms are very spacious. They have high ceilings and ceiling fans, and they have closet spaces so it's very open and just a very nice room, and a very nice shower with a fold out peak shower seat, roll in with a wheelchair.

I think all those types of places could be better but it's good. We feel like it's been a pretty good value becuase they were running a special when we signed up - $1000 off for 18 months! There are 2 people at the building during the day hours and 1 at night but a lot of the times the staff doesn't interact with the residents very much - some are more proactive than others. Overall it's pretty good. The food is pretty good and the layout is good. My mom is pretty easygoing so she doesn't really complain. She's been there for a few months and she seems to like it.

This is a Kincare home and we almost chose this one. The only reason we didn't is my mother-in-law wouldn't have had a private room. She is a very private person and that would have made her uncomfortable. This woman is the only one who had her inspections posted right when you walk in the door. Everything is right out there. You can see the kitchen where they cook everything and there were only 15 or 17 people in the whole facility which is great! They had some private and semi private rooms so if anything happens with the place we chose for my mother-in-law we will difinitely go back here and see if there is anything available. They looked to be a really good facility.

Too bad they were sold off from Brookdale. New owner so I'm still up in the air. It is clean, staff are friendly but change is occurring so take that into consideration. Room is adequate and appropriate for patient care.

The room size is decent and the different houses are set up nicely so it feels like a community. The food is decent also, I've only been there once when they were serving food. There was a mixup during m move in though, the deposit check that we gave one of the staff members was misplaced, and my brother had to replace it which cost him time and money to do so which was unfortunately.

The staff is great. Brookdale has been purchased by Gemstone Assisted Living & Memory Care, with the transition expected to be finalized at the end of the month. The room is fine, and the food is fine.

Everyone was very helpful during a time that we had to find a place for Roger very quickly based on when his doctors released him from rehab because it was over the Christmas weekend. The concern was the turnover in management positions during the same time but everything has been working out well.

The staff is very helpful, caring, and treated mom like she was their own. The lead medtech [name removed] went above and beyond for her.

Sense of community present at facility is why we chose them. I would recommend to others.

We're pleased so far and would recommend to others. All good at Brookdale.

I would recommend taking a tour and checking the community and speaking to the director. Also making sure sales person explains that rent will increase. My aunt really likes the place, I tasted the food.

My husband was allowed to check out early without making contact with me. I left an emergency number because I was going to be out of the country, but my emergency contact was not notified. So he went home to an empty house. Also, the charges quoted during our tour were not the charges that we were presented with when I signed him in, and the person doing the intake was no longer employed there. They consequently agreed to the original quote, but the whole transaction experience made me uncomfortable. However, the facility is very nice. He enjoyed his experience there.

It was assisted living and that's never great in my opinion. My mom wasn't there long, but her time there was good. I would recommend Brookdale Shadowlake to others. Its small, and personable. The staff seemed stretched thin.

The friendliness and caring staff at Brookdale and the fact that the atmosphere is feels like I never left home.
