Look somewhere else

We gave it 3 months. They are so understaffed someone needs to report them. The heater didn't work and it was during the 19* weather. My Mother was freezing for days..they replaced unit with another faulty one. The food was terrible. We were paying $[removed] a month The few people they have taking care of the residents all were wonderful, they are overwhelmed having to care for over 80 people between 2 people at night and maybe 3 on the day shift. My Mother slipped out of the bed one night, pushed her ER button took them 45 min to get there. Thank God she wasn't injured. I am so glad I had put cameras in the apt and witnessed everything. I would never recommend The Villages, better care in a nursing home. So disappointed and had to move her back home. Sorry this so long and so negative. The place was beautiful and clean and caregivers wonderful but can't leave a loved one there.

Poor experience.

Because my father has Lewy Body dementia, he has significant mobility issues and is prone to falls. I think the facility advertised itself as being able to check on him frequently and assess him when/if he fell. In reality, I'm not sure how thorough or often he was being monitored, and EMS was called frequently resulting in multiple ER visits (with additional bills and needing to personally pick him up from the hospital in the middle of the night). In the past 3 months, both my father and another male resident fell and broke their hips. Staff had significant difficulty operating compression stockings, a CPAP machine, or a Hoyer lift. I didn't feel confident about their ability to assess him for as needed medications such as antipsychotics or diuretics. The common room smelled strongly of urine, and my father's room (and in particular the bathroom) would often have feces on bedsheets, chairs, etc. They offer cleaning once weekly and won't do as needed cleans. Multiple items of clothing were lost or shrunk in the laundering process. WaGa is comprised of two memory care wings with a common entrance. Activities often occur in one wing, meaning that a staff member needs to transport residents to the opposite side of the facility to participate(ie exercise classes). Most of what happened on my father's side was Bingo which he was not interested in. Overall, WaGa is a secure locked unit for people with Alzheimer's, but I would worry about them managing complex medical issues or patients with poor mobility.

Do NOT recommend!

My mom spent 5 months living in the Greens and it was a horrible experience. From the lack of guidance on the process on move in day, to repetitive people being in her room, in her bed even while she was sleeping in the chair (luckily we had a camera), to medicine mixups and mess ups, lack of communication between doctors who came to see my mom, and no follow through. I met with 2 different directors over the time we were there and nothing changed. They did hire a memory care director a month before we left and she had a good vision and could offer a lot if allowed to make the necessary changes, but unfortunately we couldn’t wait. I was very concerned with the health and safety of my mom. Please be aware of this place. If you choose to put a loved one here just know you will have to be checking in daily and following up on everything!

Started great but it didn't stay that way

If they had listened to her they would’ve known she was in pain and maybe they wouldn’t have forced her to do things she shouldn’t do with a broken back or even just have her her pain medication when she asked for it. I know for a fact they didn’t listen to her because I had cameras in her room. I won’t say it’s their fault she’s gone because she was almost 104, her days were already numbered, but I do blame them for the amount of pain she was in when she passed. I wish I could say better things but after they changed management the only consistently good employee was [name removed]. She always went beyond her job description to make the residents happy.

Tour experience

I was not impressed by Grand Montecito. To me it felt very cold and sterile. The atmosphere was very modern and so was the décor. This may work well for someone my kids age, but not my parents. We wanted something that felt cozy and homey. It was also a lot more expensive than a few others we saw.

Lack of Care

There is a lack of care due to staffing. The reason I pulled my loved one out is because I was on a three month vacation and I think I received more calls than when we had privateers at the home looking after him. He ended up having no strength in his legs when he came home, so all they did was put him bed and leave him there. He was in there for three months and ended up falling four times; he ended up in the hospital twice during that three month period, which was more times than when he was at home.

Disappointing

I would tell others to choose a different place. It did not go well. We had our loved one registered for a two week respite stay, and we pulled him out after 8 days. They were friendly to me, but doing their job as far as my loved one was concerned, they pretty much forgot about hm. Only when we showed up were they nice and attentive.

My review of Inspired Living at Sugar Land (Validus Senior Living)

Inspired Living is a very clean community, but when it comes to the house keeping of our loved ones apartment that is really lacking. The floors are sticky and it does not seem like they dust at all. The food there is horrible, our loved ones refuse to eat the meals. We have seen an activities sheet there but not sure how much they are actually doing. The value for cost is extremely high for their selling point. The main reason we chose this community was for the medical attention that was promised, but that has been a total let down. The alert button our loved ones have, if its pressed it takes a staff members 30+ minutes to arrive.

Beware! Beautiful Facility - lacks care

BEWARE!! Beautiful facility, but lacks proper care. Staff turnover is a problem and the staff is never around. You can’t find anyone! Common problems we found were: Staff hanging out behind closed doors in the nurses office and on their phone, chatting with one another when care is needed, no security cameras for accountability, no motion sensors in rooms, everyone gives a different account of events if there is a problem with care, they are NOT documenting injuries. Mom lived here for a year and a half. During that time she had many large bruises (eye, chest, arms, etc...) no one ever knew what happened to her. The final straw was when mom fell and broke her hip in the care of 2 caregivers. We had 3 different stories how it happened and again the incident was not documented. Sad to say.... we don’t recommend this facility.

Concerns

My mother is a resident and recently their entire floor/area was without hot water for 8 days! I find this unacceptable in a place that advertises itself as a luxury facility! She has also had an ongoing problem with ants even though she takes every precaution not to attract them.

Wenthworth was good. Not so much as we are nearing one year of my mom's stay.

In the beginning, things were good. I'm not happy any more with my mothers care, room and bedding situation. Bed protector has not been put back on. No mattress pad either. Things were different under the old director. The doctor there is wonderful. He stabilized my mom's condition. She suffers from dementia with delusions and manic behavior. That has been corrected and she seems content and we are pleased with her progress. There were issues where I knew my mom had not been showered and the bedding also had an odor. So, I am looking into removing her from Wentworth, Las Vegas. I live in New Jersey and have been back and forth many times throughout the year. Like I stated, it was much better under the old director.

[Name removed] was not available but another lady quickly showed my husband and me around. The smell of the place put us off a little. We were also concerned about the in and out access of visitors and residents. We have marked this one off our list.

They said they were checking on her every two hours and they weren't.

They said they were checking on her every two hours and they weren't. They didn't even comb her hair when I would come to the place. One time she was so wet that urine ran down her leg and into her shoes. I didn't see a lot of things going on, there were about ten in each wing with four wings. There are some people that try hard, but there are some that make it hard for everyone.

We set up Mother to go to t...

We set up Mother to go to the daycare. She went to one Bible Study and would note go back in the building on the second and third attempts. Dad has given up. I want to understand their in-facility living arrangements if we need to put her in the future. I have left repeated voice mails and messages for Elaine. She has not returned any of my call. I'm very disappointed and we liked the facility when we visited previously.

Disappointed

When my mother came home she seemed unkept. Her hair was not clean. She said she had to dress herself which is difficult for her because she recently broke her hip and also has a rod in her leg. She does have dementia so I am not completely sure if this was correct. She does wear pull-ups and since she was staying there for three weeks I took enough for one daily and more. When she returned home upon counting the ones left, I counted only about four that were used. And when her visiting angel went to visit one day, a dirty pull up was in the closet rather than in the trash. I also gave them juice and prunes to give her in the morning to keep her regular and they were not used. I got them back unused. We were not helped when we came in or when when my son came to pick her up. Before her stay the director and nurse were very kind and helpful but after that we didn't get too much help. I think she enjoyed the activities and food. Overall I don't think I will be taking her there again.

Look for better option

While we did encounter a few caregivers who really cared, they were not the norm. We kept our loved one there for because we didn't find another option. The room was not kept clean. Days could go by without the room being swept or mopped. Once we found our loved one on the bed with no sheets. Hard to tell when they get baths, teeth brushed, etc. No easily found log of hygiene. Once our loved one was getting a bath during dinner time. If we had not been watching, our family member would not have gotten dinner. What the management tells you and the reality is usually two different things. We ended up learning that "Memory care" is just assisted living according to Texas laws. There are MUCH better assisted living facilities out there.

Visit and stay a while before choosing this facility

The manager and Doctor are not personable or warm. I feel like it is run for them to most the most money off each patient. The caregivers and nurses are great. They need more help per patient. Found my dad in a [Removed] state a few times and wet through a few time. I would never use this facility again. The building also smells of urine.

Needs Great Improvements!

The tour of the facility and the folks who get you to "buy in" to their facility were very convincing. They do not make the residents come out of their rooms nor make them participate in any daily activities. There is no such thing as Montessori type program! The nurse is a joke!! The director is completely uninvolved and is never available to speak with. Staff turnover is very HIGH!! The staff speak spanish to each other in front of all the residents as if they are not humans at all! They are on their phones and not paying attention to the residents. There is no schedule for the residents other than when the meals are served. The food was great at first and now it is horrible - the staff will admit they won't touch the food! Very disappointed with the facility.
