Eden Senior Care

Bella Vista is a clean and friendly place. However, the maintenance is somewhat lacking. My father moved in on July 28th & since then I have requested numerous times that the kitchen light fixture be cleaned ( it was very dirty when he moved in), and also that the kitchen sink faucet be fixed (it is a double sink and the faucet will not swing from side to side). As of Wed. (August 19th) these jobs still have not been done. There is always an excuse, (like the maintenance guy is on vacation), but no real explanation why these things are not getting done.

So far I think it's a good place for my mother. It's safe. They take good care of her. The staff is great. I would recommend the Emeritus at Willoughby to anyone searching for a nice community for their loved one. Everyone is really friendly here. The staff is great because they have been nice and accommodating. The care services are good here. My mother is well taken care of here at this community.

If you don't need much assistance, and are mostly independent, then this would be a very nice place. It didn't really work for us, and I had some concerns about the amount of time it took them to respond to a call bell. Had my loved one not been blind I think our experience would have been different. They said they had a special system for someone who was blind, but it didn't really work. She would ring for someone and it would sometimes take up to an hour for a response. She also wasn't really able to participate in many of the activities. If you are blind I don't think this is the best fit, if you are fairly independent, then it would be very nice.

I found them to be very helpful and complete. They displayed follow through and listened quite well to my requests. Expressed concern for wanting to assist me at this difficult time

Everyone has been really nice and helpful. The staff is really great but I think that they are a little overworked. There is one head nurse so communication can kind of slip through the cracks. You have to make multiple phone calls and follow up. We had a mix up with cancelling pharmaceuticals so we had double of the medication, and they billed us even through my dad didn't use it. They do stuff everyday, but my dad doesn't really take part in it. It seems like mostly women participate. We were told that there was an influx of men when my dad joined, but it seems like none of the men really participate. They do movies, and some outings about once a month. They will go to a restaurant or something like that. Everything is included in the price. Size and layout of the room are very nice. Overall we are satisfied.

Compared to everything else the cost is good. I don't know if everybody is enouraged to participate as much as they should be. I think some people need a little bit more of a push to get out and participate but they're fine with people just staying in their rooms. It maybe isn't the quality of the activities program but the effort the make to get people involved. It seems like there's a very social group of women there that are very nice and do the activities and the men aren't as social, but that can be just the personalities of the people that are there. Definitely somebody who has a hard time adjusting may not be a favorite of the staff and it might be that its just a longer adjustment period so well wait and see how it goes.

I think it was fine and at the time it was the right place for our mom. She was only there two months but in general the follow through was not the best. We were in a little bit of a rush to decide on a place. I am not sure if we would choose it again after being better educated. At the time it was the right place but as time goes on you begin to see the deficiencies.

The staff is friendly and kind and the facility is clean. My aunt suffered from bedsores for too long. Not super supportive in transportation needs especially for wheelchair. She only gets to shower 2/week.

Like any place you have your loved ones, you need to be there and ask questions about their care. And ask your family member/friend their opinion. It took awhile to sort thru who does what. While this is a new experience for us, for them it's routine and they may not know you have questions. Concerns or comments. Sometimes language/phrasing may not match how you think. I can tell you that my only issue has been with communication and the CNA & nursing staff. I met with the director last week and hopefully it will be straightened out. He seems content and adjusting well.

The facility and staff were nice and helpful. My dad had hospice, so most of his care was by the hospice team.

There were more men in this community than others. It was closer to his home and church so others could visit. The creativity in the naming of the rooms-- Grandpa's Pub, the Ice Cream Parlor, City Hall, the Movie Theater, etc. showed creativity and held promise for social engagement. The room was recently redone. The view from his room was pleasant and calming.

They are not helpful resolving issues that arise. Vague to no answers. The facility has no backup generator for emergencies. One was needed last summer after power was out and the temperature was above 90 degrees in the rooms. The admin said there were no plans to purchase one. Fees have gone up. Monthly resident meetings have the same complaints each time with no resolution, mainly being short staffed and causing a delay in care. Poor quality of food and lack of choices. Running out of basic food supplies and being told we are waiting on the next shipment. They are good sales people but lack follow thru and actions.

They need more people on the weekend especially on Saturday day and night shift. The food was fine, then about 6 weeks ago someone decided to switch to "restaurant style" meaning residents order from a very limited menu, while sitting at their tables... like a restaurant. Since the switch it is typical to wait an hour for meals, order is often wrong, and if you have to have a meal in your room, due to illness, the resident will wait at least two hour for a meal, and often the meal is whatever they bring you, because no one took your order. Again, it use to be fine, and on the weekend, they continue you to serve "chef's choice", and it is fine. But during the week the food service is terrible. The food tastes okay, you just have to wait an hour to get it, and it will probably not be a completely correct order)

Some of the staff is great. The time that it takes for staff to help tends to be longer than what it should. There has been numerous occasions where it's taken over 45 minutes. I'm not sure if it's just not enough staff or they're just overworked. I would recommend Eden Vista as long as someone is checking on their loved ones.

The CNA and nurses are very nice. I don't like the pricing. They changed companies and now want to charge almost double what we have been paying. I am torn about recommendations I don't feel like they are worth the money they are charging

As a resident, I must say that the staff is friendly and accommodating. However, we haven't had WiFi for over 33 days and are going into our third day without television access. The activities department needs work. They are geared to the majority of black residents. The food is average at best and they use too much pre-made frozen and eat components to the meals.

We were only there for three days before Ma passed away. Overall 3 because we paid for five weeks and it took forever to get our funds returned....the place was clean, it did not have odors. The entire staff of care people was great. Food was pretty good too. Nice facility. Othere than the office/$$ hassle the staff and facilities were very good.

The management team doesn't work together, do not inform you about increases, never return phone calls or emails. I feel for those who don't have anyone to advocate for them. The every day staff is wonderful.

We have had issues but they have been addressed. The staff has been ok but weekend staff has forgotten about her. There have been issues with staff forgetting to change mom or take to dinner. Issue was addressed. Our loved one has complained about food amounts and quality. The staff do keep her busy and the cost has been the most appreciated

As of [date removed], Trustwell has sold the Rock Run Assisted Living Facility to Eden Vista. During the meet and greet at the end of May with the new company we were told NO ONE WOULD BE LOSING THEIR JOB. Unfortunately, Eden Vista is not true to their word as they have fired six people from the facility. This includes the activity director, maintenance director, assistant executive director and others. The facility is less than half full and now staff has been cut even further. Many people are leaving due to the changes.
