Eden Senior Care

Brookdale Prospect Heights have been very good about trying to accommodate my father-in-law who is kind of a challenge. He ended up falling the first night he was there. After a day or two they suggested that he needed more therapy. He is now back in his assisted living studio. He thinks he can do things and does them very quickly. Getting him to change at the age of 88 is a challenge. I think well of the facility. They are doing best they can given how difficult my father-in-law is. We will see how things continue to go here.

My husband and I had visited several other assisted living communities and didn't feel comfortable with my parents living there. We feel that Brookdale in Stow ,Ohio takes pride in all they do for the residents. The community is decorated beautifully and is clean!!! ALL the employees go out of their way to help and please the residents.

At this point we are pretty happy with them. It's a secured area, so sometimes there is a little bit of a wait to get in and out. I would rather have it that way, though, and know they are safe. They are doing a good job.

While the move-in has been delayed a bit, I am really looking forward to things with Emeritus! It's a lovely looking community, and everyone has been so friendly and so helpful. The marketing director was a huge help throughout the whole process, and the community has just been very welcoming in general!

Hilltop Village met all our needs and desires at the best possible price compared with all other assisted living facilities. Most importantly, the staff is understanding, cautious, efficient, and trustworthy. My 91 yr. old mother-in-law and my disabled sister-in-law, are living there together quite comfortably, and they are better off living at Hilltop Village than they have ever been. We have peace of mind now.

I wish someone would have encouraged my mother to attend an exercise class.

Overall the experience with Brookdale Prospect Heights was positive. The first night there they forgot to get her for dinner and that of course was not good. Then there was the head person that I was not very impressed with who (among other things) did not tell us we had to sign a hundred page contract. Other than those issues it has been a good experience. The nurses did really well, were very caring, and made sure mom had her meds when she needed them. Overall it is a very nice place with very friendly excellent staff.

My aunt selected Willow Falls in Crest Hill, Illinois. She could not be any happier! She loves her apartment and the food. The staff was extremely helpful in orienting her to the facility. A Place for Mom was extremely helpful in assisting with the process of finding a facility. The information they provided us with was accurate and helpful. I will be referring A Place for Mom services to family and friends. Thank you for making selecting a facility so easy!

My loved one and I stayed here briefly, and during our time there I thought they did a good job. The staff were all very friendly and the care they provided seemed good. Unfortunately due to the way the community was set-up and staffed all the residents, even on the first floor, had to be able to get out of bed and into a wheelchair on their own in case of emergency. After the fire marshal visited the community they began to enforce this rule, and we were not able to stay. The care here is good, but be aware of this if you or your loved one has mobility issues.

Our loved one has been here a few week and so far we've been impressed with the service here. The staff has been very responsive to any requests we've had, and they're very communicative when it comes to updates on my loved one's health and well-being.

My mother was here just for respite for 2 weeks so everything was inclusive. The emeritus is a very much smaller facility, it was never a consideration as a permanent placing because of the size, the programs that are available and if I'm not mistaken, I don't think they have memory care. It's a beautiful place, very clean, the rooms were excellent, the staff was excellent. I would highly recommend them as a respite but maybe not as a permanent placing for nursing. We saw the special on emeritus and I think they did a big disservice to emeritus by zeroing in on the one nursing home and I think they made a huge error in focusing on them because our experience was very good. On the one hand it was very informative and helped us know what to look out for but I kind of felt sorry for them.

Parkview Manor and their Rehab center gave me a new life! On July 1st 2013 I was taken to the nursing home unable to sit without falling backwards. The dizziness had taken over and I was unable to function physically. With determination, lots of help and care/concern from staff I am now going home not only with a new body but also a whole new outlook on life. I’d like to share some general thoughts about my Mom’s stay at Lakeshore Manor in Oshkosh, WI. When no one else would accept my Mom as a patient, Lakeshore Manor did. The facility that promotes itself as the best in the area was nice to us, however would not work with us. My mom was too angry, potentially violent, and not properly medicated to be a patient there. Lakeshore Manor accepted my Mom and worked with us as a family. Lakeshore Manor was truly a partner. The staff came to genuinely care for my Mom, no matter which one of her many dementia-induced personalities presented itself on any given day. Lakeshore Manor worked with us so that she would be properly medicated, their staff was there understanding her needs and the family needs. We worked together through some difficult situations, but Lakeshore Manor never gave up on her. The options that were available to her on a daily basis to socialize and interact with others were endless. The activities coordination was wonderful. Just watching the staff get everyone into the great room to participate was to watch an exercise in patience, love, and caring. I saw all of Lakeshore Manor’s residents treated as individuals, not just a body in a room. Lakeshore Manor allowed my Mom to remain there to the end of her life. They assisted us in recommending and working with a hospice provider. Other facilities would have forced us to move Mom once she entered hospice. Her dignity and uniqueness as a person was protected until the end. After she passed, many staff members asked me if they could come in and say their good-byes. It was personal to them, not just a job. I would never hesitate to recommend LSM to anyone. It is a wonderful facility, staffed by caring individuals and an asset to have in our community. I send my best wishes to the staff, I miss their smiling faces. I would give a 4 ½ star rating to the care my Mom received and that is because I really don’t give 5 stars to anything I review!

Full disclosure, my dad no longer lives there. He moved out on [date removed]. He got strong enough while living there to move back to assisted living at [name removed] in Deerfield. Dad worked really hard because he was motivated to get back to [community removed], which I didn't think was possible. He was able to get stronger because he took full advantage of the OT and PT services he received at Eden Vista. Mentally, he improved significantly just by living in a studio with his own furniture, which was so much better than a nursing home room that had only a few pieces of generic furniture, no dining room and limited interactions with other residents. Dad is cognitively stronger than many of the people at Eden Vista, which was hard. It was better than the nursing homes, but still not enough. It is important to note that the care staff (like CNA) is happier at Eden Vista. Not as dramatically overworked as at skilled nursing facilities where Dad has been. So they are generally more cheerful and more able to converse with residents. It was good for Dad to have them to talk to because they were more his level cognitively. I never worried about my dad's safety at EV. I never worried that he wouldn't get good care. I knew I could go to [name removed](sales) with any questions and he always responded to texts. [name removed], at the front desk is fabulous. They get lots of good music and singing in every Wednesday afternoon. Bingo is good. Dad didn't do many other activities but he could have. The staff will pop in and ask residents if they want to go. They don't just leave people sitting in their rooms. One of the activities coordinators made my dad chicken paprikash before he left. She is Hungarian. They had talked about it being Dad's favorite Hungarian family recipe. That's above and beyond anything we could have expected. The food options are pretty limited. They don't give rides to appointments. That might be a problem for people without family nearby. But in general I always tell people they should look at EV. It's a good place. I went in to see the director when Dad left to thank him for everything he did to support my dad. I thanked everyone I saw. I was kind of embarrassed that he left after such a short time, after all they did to have a great room for him and help him improve. It's very unusual for someone to go back to a true assisted living situation. They told me at [community removed] that residents who get sick rarely make it back. Dad was really sick and gone for 15 months. I think that counts as a win for EV.

Overall experience at Eden Vista is good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. With my brother being on a feeding tube, cannot rate the food. The apartment is small, but based on what I saw at other assisted living facilities, they're larger than most other places. I would give Eden Vista a positive rating.

Staff is very friendly and so accommodating to my dad. [name removed] gave my dad a hug after visit #2 and reassured him he would like it there. It is bright and cheery and compared to another facility in town this has much nicer amenities and activities for the residents

My overall assessment is that I was pleased with the care that my husband was given while he was there. The apartment was big enough for him and his brother to share. The food was good and if they didn't like what they were having, they had alternatives to choose from. My husband was in hospice so the care given was between the workers at Eden Vista and hospice. There were activities every day.

The staff really works with the family to create and enact a care plan best suited to the resident. I am confident that if there are concerns from either staff or family, it will be dealt with. The ability to accommodate a married couple in memory care who are at different levels of need was the deciding factor. The less memory challenged of the two could use a bit more activities suited to the higher level of understanding. Family visits help give a better level of activity to the less affected half of the couple. And family is always welcome. I would definitely recommend Eden Vista Prospect Heights. Caring for a married couple with challenges unique to each one is a lot to deal with. Family support is very important. But even with the family working together it would be an absolute nightmare if the facility wasn't so accommodating, patient, kind and understanding. All care has up days and down days and it helps to be patient and flexible as involved family members. Communication is a big part of our loved ones' care running smoothly. The staff do their best to keep us informed whether it is to reach out with new information or following up on questions or requests.

The facility is nice, but at times understaffed and my Dad has had to wait to be helped. The room is sized well and overall the facility is clean.

I chose Eden Vista because my sister needed Skilled Nursing and choices were limited. Everyone there has been really kind and helpful. I wish they would have an additional CNA per floor. Otherwise it's quite a decent place. Thank you for finding it for me at a time that I was overwhelmed with responsibilities regarding my sister's situation.
