Our tour at Holiday Carmel Place was great, and our tour guide was great. It just wasn’t a good fit for my loved one. It was an older facility, and a lot of it smelled like cigarette smoke, which was a problem for us.

My mother has already asked to move after only a few months. The décor is pleasant. Staff is kind but extremely understaffed. There are attempted thefts. Showers are regularly skipped by staff. Food is absolutely terrible. On site physical therapy contractor is impossible to get ahold of or schedule appointments. Resident has been regularly declined for physical assistance.

Review for Cogir of Manteca Senior Living

They did not check in on my loved one regularly, in the short period of time of being there. The first caregiver we encountered was really rude and made us feel unwelcome. I was paying the highest amount and they did not come get them for meals. Consequently their blood sugar was high, and so I pulled my loved one from that facility. My suggestion to them is to line out exactly what ASSISTED living means!

Community Tour

We had a nice tour, but I thought the facility was just okay. They were halfway through renovations, so there were two starkly different areas. The updated communal space was nice. The dining room had a spectacular view and seemed like lodge/resort living. Everything is centered around that space. But the rest of it is pretty institutional. It felt old and dated. I got to see some finished rooms, and it still just seemed old.

What's happening at The Virginian

We've had mixed results. The good things are the level of care they offer from independent all the way to long term nursing is a benefit; it makes it easy as your parent(s) progress. The first group of staff we met were super friendly, very helpful and very encouraging. Their sales staff helped us in our decision to come here. I would tell others that you probably don't want to move in until next Summer because they are going through major construction. They are reconstructing the entire facility on the outside and inside; that includes every floor, every unit, every apartment, every wing, the common areas, the dining hall, the front door, etc.. Cleanliness is kind of a mess right now and that's been hard for my parents. It's confusing because certain halls are closed and the elevators go up and down, but not side to side. The front lobby/door is closed until Spring. There are certain things that would make it super hard for anyone wanting to move in right now. On the care side, I've had to be really pushy to get communication and clarity on who is responsible for making decisions, changes, and so forth. They've had a lot of changes in staffing, their current staff are temps from corporate. The chef is brand new which is why the food is up and down. Maybe next year once everything is done it will be better, but right now it's a little challenging.

Holiday Longmont Regent location is stuck in the back of a stripmall. The people here were all super friendly though and when we toured they were playing balloon volleyball with the residents. The rooms were very tiny and also you had to have a meal plan to live here. It was also expensive. It was just not nearly as nice and the value was not as good as another facility we were looking into.

Dissapointed

I'm kind of dissapointed. They are not doing what hey need to do. For example, They are supposed to help dad, with his selection of clothing, and they are not doing that. He is not getting the help that he needs. The staff is very friendly and nice. Again they are not doing everything that they should be doing. There is no complaints about the food. Dad does not participate in activites but attends exercise classes, three times per week. It is expensive, and I am not real happy righ now but I am satying optimistic, and hoping things will get better. Anuyone else looking into this community, should stay on top of things, that should be done.

Not as it once was

Beginning BEFORE covid it started going down hill dramatically. Beginning in 2019 food became much like institutional food. It went from gourmet meals to often times in eatable.. A few months ago it improved some but portions became extremely small. They never have variety of choice they once had and no longer cover the plates with metal trays to keep the food warm. No steady bus driver since before covid. Sunridge has dramatically changed over the last years and it has not been for the better. It is un fortunate that the warmest most caring individual, the assistant manager has quit and was not given the opportunity to take the place of general manger that is quitting in less than a year. Makes one wonder why? 5 years ago, 5 star. 3years 3 star and declining. All but 1 of Staff, put at 5 star but hard to do your job when there is no help. Care service 2 star because no bus they have not had for years. 3 star on cleanliness because of lack of staff. Who they have try very hard.

There is No Correlation Between Appearances and Services Provided

The community is very understaffed where my loved one is located in the community. The staff communication isn't what it needs to be, as the staff doesn't get back to the family within 24 hours. There is no way for the residents to alert the staff that they have fallen and can't get up or need any assistance. The staff ratio is typically 3 staff members for the residents that are in the specific are where my loved one is in. I end up caring for my loved one during the visits, and this has caused more stress for me. It is waste of money due to the community not being able to provide the care that my loved one needs, and that the community said they would be able to provide the care that they said they would. There have been personal belongings removed for my loved one's possession since being in the community. The community is willing to accommodate the staff more than the residents.

My tour review

We did not like this this community. This was not the right environment that we were looking for for our loved one.

Our family had an in person tour and we did not really appreciate the experience, some negative things stood out to us pretty quickly

Tour of Tribute at The Glen

We toured Tribute at The Glen after we had already seen an amazing community. The rooms here were darker, not as nice or spacious, and they only had a mini fridge as opposed to a full sized one. The cafeteria looked and smelled like a 'cafeteria', whereas the other community had a restaurant-bistro like setup. It just boiled down to the small details; Tribute had a handrail going down the hallways and stairwell, and the other community had shelving. When you're at the other community, it felt more like a Hilton than a senior living community. Tribute was also 2x the cost of the community we chose, but had a lower quality of aesthetics. Tribute is nice, but its just not [community named removed].

Used to be great

Mom has been here 5 years. Last March it went from Sunrise to Cogir. Horrible management w Cogir. Horrible communication w the transition and it continues downhill. Staff is lovely but they aren’t trained, kind but not trained. Way too much tv , nothing happens in the evenings and the walks have stopped under Cogir.

Cogir is The Place to Consider Moving a Loved One into Assisted Living

Overall it has been a good place for my loved one to move to for their safety. There are communication errors with the care services, that could be improved. The hiring of more staff and better communication between the resident and care staff could help improve the overall rating for communication. There is an answer to my emails within 24-48 hours; however, there isn't always a resolution provided by the community to me about my concerns or questions. The food isn't consistent in quality and taste according to my loved one. The activities are pretty good, as my loved one likes to engage in them. There is bingo, chair yoga, outings for the residents, and more for activities for the residents to choose from. They have a new driver starting next week for transportation. Cable, utilities, housekeeping, laundry service, room and all three meals are included in the monthly rate. Medication management and bathing assistance are some care that the community is able to provide for my loved one. It is a nice location for the family to be able to visit my loved one.
