Good for the most part.

Over all they are a good value for the money. They are a little deceptive on their promise that they can drive you to your doctor appointments, that is only available if your doctor appointment is in the morning Monday - Wednesday. They are not equipped at all for those occupants who have dogs. They require you to pick up after your pet but do not provide any outside trash cans, at all. I guess they except to bring the bag back inside and dispose of it in the building!! This complex is only staff part time! Staff is on duty from 7:30 in the morning till 7:30 at night! This causes me a little bit of heart burn. Meals have been good, and entertainment has been good. I feel the premises are secure and well maintained.

My mom is much happier at Garden Club than she was at a different facility. She loves the staff and how friendly the atmosphere is there. Garden Club has the feel of a community center rather than a hotel. Downsides have been high staff turnover and they have had trouble finding and keeping a head chef so the food quality has diminished.

Care at Orchard

My husband was at Orchard for the last few weeks of his life. He was well cared for and his only complaint was that I couldn't take him home. The staff always seemed to know where he was when I would arrive to visit and if he was participating in the planned activities there. It may have been helpful if he had more physical/mental therapy to maintain what little strength he had. There are no RN's on staff or MD's so the level of care in that regard was not available there. He enjoyed the interaction with the attendants and helpers and was generally well cared for.

Cascadian Retirement

My mom moved into the Cascadian about a year ago, and she is pretty happy. She is independent, and in good health. We liked the Cascadian because it offered a balance of independence and support services, and was much more affordable than many other locations. She has a one bedroom with a deck (and a view), and a kitchenette. The Holiday Retirement model (am assuming that most do not have full kitchens), which include three meals a day, would provide good value, but my mom doesn't eat in the dining room. She is pretty introverted, and I have talked to the activities coordinator (I think that is her title) about ways to help mom to feel more comfortable, but it hasn't worked out. I've eaten with her in the dining room several times, and it feels like there are firmly-formed groups at most tables. In other communities that I know about, the staff assigns seating in the dining room, which rotates. This does disadvantage those people who want to sit together, but helps the less sociable, like my mom. So, it becomes less of a good value when she is not eating in the dining room. I read the resident meeting minutes, and at a recent meeting, they discussed a new resident welcome committee – this would be great, even if mom is no longer a new resident. She has taken advantage of the field trips, and a few activities. The staff has been open about our requests to do modifications - put up curtain rods, for one, and seem open to residents wanting to make the place their own. One concern I have is the staff turn-over. In the past year, there have been changes to manager, assistant manager, office manager, facilities staff, dining room service staff and chefs. The latter can only be an improvement, because the meals that I have eaten with mom have been, to put it kindly, a mixed bag. As others have said, the decor in the communal areas is pretty dated, but that's not a deal breaker. The front door was replaced a few weeks ago, and they need to finish the interior framing where the interior door was removed. The staff is friendly, and many call mom by name, which is great. The Holiday Company needs to make it easier to log into the Wi-Fi – each and every time you are required to accept the user policy, and this added step just makes it more confusing for people who aren’t tech savvy, like my mom. So, overall, our experience is positive – there are a lot of plusses to the Holiday Retirement model, and I hope my mom is at the Cascadian for a long time.

Liked Community Very Much

I toured at Rogue Valley with my loved one, and we liked the feel of this community very much. It was a nice place, and as far as the community itself, it would have been a great fit. However, it was too expensive, and as a result, was not a practical option for us.

so far so good

Pelican Point is a very nice, pretty and , warm place. They have daily activities for their clients and according to my family member who is living there in memory care---they are very clean. The dining room in memory care is rather glum, but there is an outdoor garden area with umbrella they can access. At this point (two weeks in), I am pleased. Every Monday they get an outing in the bus....go to get coffee, and the park or whatever. The staff is very accommodating, So far so good.

Kind Staff!!

My mother has recently made the move into this community and I am sad to say that she has a hard time adjusting. She stays in her room most of the time and I hoping she starts to make her way downstairs for the dinning experience as well as other activities. The staff are kind to her and make sure to bring her meals up to her room as well as accommodate her needs to the best of there ability. I am hoping they can keep a little bit of a better eye on her for she has fallen multiple times.

The Food Is Not Bad

The community is nice to live in but the food is the worst in the world. I have had diarrhea since moving in and eating the meals. They need to learn how to cook, they are using a lot of frozen food. They have 3 cooks, and they should hire people who really know how to cook. Everything else is fine, I like the therapy and the games we play. I am happy with the rest they offer.,

Positive care and enviroment

This was a nice tour that I was looking at the care for my mom. The staff was very nice and able to answer the questions I had on the care. The community was clean and the menu seemed appealing. I would suggest that other families tour this community for the care and value for other family members.

My loved one is doing well!

My loved one is doing fairly okay at this Brookdale location. They are doing what they can to cater to my loved one's needs and requests. My loved one is happy with the situation.

My tour

This looked like a clean community when I visited. The person that took us on tour was friendly and helpful. I did not like the room they had available.

Cannot retain care staff

My family member lived at the Quarry for some time and was taken very good care of. It seems that there are just a few really great caregivers that will go above and beyond for them. I was surprised with how many people I would see coming in and out of the memory care unit due to turn over. It was a little unsettling to be honest. The food service was a little difficult to be constantly pleased with because of slow kitchen staff, especially [Removed]. It was hard to communicate with her when resident's needed things and in a timely manner. I will always be very thankful for one of the medication aids, [Removed], as she went above and beyond for any resident and family member that would ask. Unfortunately she no longer works here. I feel that if they could retain the caregivers who actually cared, this place would be getting 5 stars across the board. [Removed], the executive director, was a very wonderful personable staff member. He remembers names and actually listens to your problems and I was very impressed of his attitude especially with such a high up title. Do some research, but I do like the Quarry.

Our visit

This community offers a spin down to medicaid option. It is a nice community and the people met were friendly and knowledgeable. This community was our second choice. They do offer a lot of activities. The community we chose was a little closer to the budget we were looking for.

What I found

Food was very good, facility is lovely. People are friendly. My only objections are: Room sizes of the cottage we took- are small. Food delivery to the cottage costs $5.00 per delivery. Other than that seems what I found is fine.

They need a lot of upgrading!

The staff at the Brookdale Manteca are okay for the most part, many are very nice and experienced. There is only one maintenance man for the whole building which seems inadequate. The meals are okay but servings are small. Also seems there could be more med techs. The heat/air units are noisy and outdated. The roomsand bathroomss need an upgrade. The public areas are very nice as is the courtyard.
