Cogir Senior Living

We chose The Fountains at Washington House because I got recommendations from some other people who had good experience and when I went to tour I liked what I saw. The apartment sizes here are adequate for the needs. I would recommend to others looking.

My advice to others isn't specific to Cogir at all, but I would just say consider everything before you go down a certain path. I'm not sure I would do things the same way again now as when we first decided. I have two loved ones with very different health needs. One is in pretty bad shape, and the other doesn't really need any care. And looking back, we would have pursued a different avenue for them to be together since she's very unhappy being in a facility. It's nothing to do with Cogir itself or the staff. She just doesn't want her husband to die there and wishes they could both go back home. I think overall Cogir has been fine. The staff have been very helpful. The sales manager spent a lot of time with me and was very helpful in the move-in process. I would say read carefully what you're signing, especially regarding costs. And realize that costs can increase when care needs change. I understand that they're a business. And I suppose even if we had known certain details up front, we still would have signed the contract. I have no reason to believe what they're doing is different from any other place. I think they have good owners and genuinely want to provide good service.

We chose Cadence at Mint Hill because it just seemed to be the perfect fit. It was not too large of a facility, seemed to be very clean, and just looked very nice. It is a place I would go if the time comes. The staff members have been friendly and pretty good with communication. I would recommend them to others who are looking.

Make sure you clearly understand what is meant by independent living vs. assisted living. They were able to provide more care than we expected, but we weren't expecting extra fees for those services. I'm looking forward to when all the renovations are completed and more dining rooms are available. I'm also looking forward to having more activities are going on once Covid restrictions end. The staff have been very responsive. My loved one hasn't been liking the dinners lately, the meat specifically, but she loves the breakfasts.

We chose Cogir of Stock Ranch at the time because it was cheapest and the location was good for us. The room sizes are pretty spacious. They did have a menu where residents could order like restaurant but they have reduced the variety some. I would tell others to be prepared for the price to go up once you get in, what they quote you isn't necessarily what it will be the next month. If you add care it increases the price quite a bit. I would recommend to others looking.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. I have to repeat myself to the staff to get things done. Overall they are good to work with.

The community has a great covid plan and did a good job keeping the residence safe. They have residence meetings now and my loved one is making friends. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

Our tour at Harvard Square was fine. It was a relatively old property, but I was very impressed with the person who handled the memory care section. She seemed very compassionate. I do know that the state cited them for how they were handling Covid issues, so that was a deterrent to us.

All in all, it was a good experience. If you need more assistance than what you think , it's probably not the right place. They didn't have a lot of care assistance there, and some of the staff were older ladies who couldn't really physically assist. It's more of a housing community than assisted living. And they do advertise that. The staff were nice and friendly, no complaints there. They just thought they could take care of my loved one, and they couldn't. So that was a frustrating experience. And it was not the greatest as we transitioned out of the community. Some of that is on me, some of that is on them. In the end, it's no one's direct fault. But if you don't need a tot of extra assistance, it would be a good place for you.

We chose Cadence at Clemmons because of the availability and the location of the facility, it is brand new. The room sizes here are good for what he needs. They have been fairly good with communication, but could use some improvement on that. The staff members were very helpful with the move in or when you want to bring stuff in. They will install it and put it up, so the maintenance staff is great. I have been overall very pleased with the facility.

We chose Carmel Place because they were running a deal and we could get him in cheaper than anywhere else. Also talking to the sales director, he was very personable, efficient, and comforting. I have only seen the studio apartment and it perfectly adequate for his needs. There are only 2 washing machines and 2 dryers on each floor with a lot of people and you can only use them after 4 or on weekends. They could use improvement with quality and variety of food, but they recently have had a meeting and that is their main priority to work on that. I would absolutely recommend to others looking.

We chose Harvard Square because we were looking for 2 bedroom apartments and that was kind of hard to find. The sizes of room are good. I think the nurses are really professional, they definitely have a good nursing staff and there are plenty of them. I would recommend to others looking.

The community is currently going through a transition. We are waiting on new activities director, and several other new positions. I enjoy it here and would recommend you look into. They have low sodium diet which I enjoy. Sometimes the food is cold. Otherwise suppers aren't up to par, such as the bread being hard. The suppers seem to be lacking overall.

The community is very clean and they have really kept the community clean to combat covid. The food is very good and we are able to eat with our loved one in her room. They have started activities back up and they have a list of activities daily. They have multiple levels of care so they offer independent, assisted, and memory care. I like the layout of the community and we like the safety of the community also. I would recommend this community to others.

I would recommend it, but make sure you focus on a clear line of communciation with the managment. and staff. At times they seem understaffed, and this could be based on teh Covid issue. I feel like my rating would change if not for Covid. It was good when we moved in, and then took a bit of a nosedive when Covid hit. There was a little breakdown in communication, but it's coming back. But my loved one is very happy oveall. She has commented that the food could be better. They do somnething a little different there, with teh main meal at lunch and lighter meal for dinner. That's taken her some getting used to. She feels it more like a heavy snack than a meal at dinner. As things are opening up, my confidence is being re-established, and that's been good to see.

Our experience has been good so far, the community is in the right location. The staff members are very good and really take great care of our loved one. Our loved one is in the memory care unit so there are not to many activities going on, but we are not displeased with the value.

Communication was slow they did contact me if anything was needed but it took longer to respond to my emails and texts. The community is a really good value and they keep it very clean and neat. The staff is also very nice and friendly. I would recommend this community to others.

I appreciate that the staff makes special allowance for people with special needs.

I chose Garden Valley because of the closeness to family members. The apartment sizes are a little tight, the 1 bedroom is about 535 square feet. I think they could provide more vegetarian foods on the menu and add more real fruit. They do have good parking and they have decent security especially with covid going on. I believe they are trying to make everybody as comfortable as possible.

It the best place you could have your parent at during covid. They could come and go as needed, everyone followed the covid protocols. The communication was very between the staff and our family. They kept us well informed. I would recommend this community to others
