A Place for Mom has scored Civitas Senior Living with 8.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 334 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Civitas Senior Living has 879 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.1 out of 5.
Our family had an in person tour and the facility is brand new which was great, but we could hardly see anything going on. We saw no activities, or no activity schedule. We were not told us anything they do for the residents outside of the community like day trips. The people giving us the tour was nice but newer so they had no idea how to answer our questions. It just seemed very unorganized and unprepared.

My loved one was in The Cottage (memory care). While the majority of the staff was good, [name removed] who provided activities was awesome! However, the upper admin/management do not know how to run the facility. They need to train the staff on how to take care of residents with dementia. They need to make sure all the cameras are in working order. They do not make it easy on the family members. There should be a no cell phone policy while working. I got tired of seeing staff on facebook. Glad we found a much better place that has experience with dementia and work with the residents, instead of against. Also, they talk about chef prepared meals. There were many "chefs" that quit while our loved one was there. Not to mention eating on styrofoam. We understand with COVID, but this was ongoing. Getting things in order start with the management. It shouldn't be that difficult. People are in positions that know nothing about memory care or how to handle staff.

The independent living cottages are fair. The layout is convenient for seniors, but you are getting the basics. No granite counter tops, the VERY cheapest appliances etc... for what you pay. The REAL problem is the management in the office. My mom lived there for 4 year and had no less then 30 different schedules for house cleaning. (sometimes it would change twice in one week). The last months my mom lived there she asked for an early morning cleaning time as she had been there 4 years and I get off work at noon to help run errands. The ladies in the office claims cleaning can only be done in numerical order of the cottage. GIVE ME A BREAK! The people who lived next door had only been there a month! The day my mom died and the paramedics/police were there she walked down to her cottage and said to me: You mom was so angry! Never in my life has I've ever seen such little compassion and rudeness. Even the paramedics commented on how rude she was.

They are a lovely facility with great caregivers. However, BEWARE, If your loved one is an Alzheimer's resident, they will not necessarily keep them until "end of life" as they assured us they would do. Their website claims to "provide specialized care for ALL stages of dementia" and accommodate "two person transfer", yet as soon as my 100lb mother could not support her own body weight, and it took two caregivers to move her, they wanted me to move her out. We were told when we signed our contract, that we would never have to move our mother and that she could die there. They spent the last two months of my mothers life and time there, coming up with every kind of excuse to not keep her. It seems, based on everything I know and researched, they didn't want to hire or train additional staff to deal with someone who requires the extra care. Anyone who has a parent with Alzheimer's, should not use a Civitas facility and search elsewhere.

I would tell others that they do not have it together at all here. They assessed my mother and took her after evaluating her, when it was time for her to come after rehab they said that they were not able to take her and that she should have never been able to go there. It was not a good experience.

My loved one moved from the independent living area to the assisted living area. I moved my loved one out of the community in roughly 3 weeks after the transition. There were a couple of reasons that made me make this decision. The first one being that I used the buzzer to try and get the attention of the staff, and no one responded. The manager stated that they had pull all the buzzers due to a meeting with the care staff. This upset me so much. The clothes were lost every week, and I had to search them each week. I feel the care manager was be running over.by the staff, as she seemed to be inexperienced. The Hamptons didn't seem to have a lot of activities. The Director of the community seemed to be new and looked like a deer in the headlights when I approached her about concerns.

Dining room continues to be a source of disruption. Lack of serving staff. Diabetic woman was not served timely and caused her blood sugar to crash. Working on fourth chef. Due to dispute in salary, new chef simply did not show up on first day. Civitas has now raised prices on meals. Dead trees and shrubs abound on the campus. Depressing.

Expensive for what you get. They had a chef when my mom signed up, then he was gone in two weeks, we hear due to low pay. Food has gone downhill. Management all left due to overwork and low pay. Very understaffed now. They were way too slow and it required way too much demanding to fix serious construction problems, flooding, sewer overflows, showers that leaked on the floor. We've ALL communicated extensively with corporate to no avail. They talk a lot and not enough action. Corporate greed, trying to cheap out on the expenses and wages, and still LOOK like a high-end place. A whole group is planning to move out.

We moved my mom in there when they had a chef that made delicious nutritious food, but he soon left (word is underpaid), then they replaced him with mediocre cooks they're insisting on calling chefs, and the food went downhill. The management all left en masse due to overwork and underpay, and the remaining staff is super sparse, and still underpaid but really caring. They won't last is they find other jobs. Legacy didn't quickly enough fix some serious construction deficiencies, and toilets overflowed, apartments and common areas flooded in the rain, and showers ran onto the floors. We've all communicated with corporate till we're blue in the face, but we've mostly gotten lots of excuses and too little action. It' seems they're trying to run it on the cheap and still be seen as high end luxury, as the building does look high end. The only ones not complaining are memory care, and they can't complain! Corporate greed at its finest. Residents are getting fed up and threatening to move out, but geez it's expensive to move! We're giving them another month to get it together. We'll see.

My father is a pending resident on the wait list & has completed his new resident package so we are close to getting him moved in. When he calls to get an update he is told I’ll have [name removed] call you back & that does not happen 90% of the time, he even asked to speak to the director which he was transferred too & she told him she would look into the situation & call him back within an hour.....no call. Do you all realize how bad this is for your public relations? What is the care level I should expect for my father if you cannot simply return his calls? We are very excited for this next chapter in my Dad’s life but I’m concerned.

It's new and clean. Assisted Living building staff are nice and work hard but there's a shortage of trained staff and a high turn over rate. Food is mediocre to fair. Their nurse left or was let go after 2 months of bad performance and covering up mistakes. Services we paid for were not rendered. I had to remind the manager, nurse and caregivers of weekly/daily services and I had to coordinate them. I had to take out trash, bathe my loved one and change the sheets myself on several occasions. Activities are entertaining but very basic and minimal. There's no weight-bearing exercise to maintain muscle mass or led walks for cardiovascular health, only sitting in chairs and lifting their arms and legs. It's very [Removed] oriented, which may be nice for some people but makes other people feel uncomfortable because they're not supposed to impose religious practices. This is not disclosed in brochures either.

We toured this community for the care for my mom. The staff was very caring and able to answer the questions we had. This community is clean and the menu is appealing. We did like that they offer activities for the residents that want to participate. We would recommend that family tour this community for the option of care for a loved one.

This facility if severely understaffed. Calls for assistance sometimes take as long as two hours. There is no one available for help during dining hours because all of the people working are called to the dining room. Food is often cold. The carpet is damaged and filthy. Carpet cleaning occurs only when expected visits from company people. Shortage of silverware and basic needs for meals. Cold showers have been frequent over the past few months because of badly needed repairs to the boiler.

They incorrectly evaluated my dad as NOT NEEDING TO USE O2. That was actually my MAIN concern, and the reason I was moving him to Assisted Living. The evaluated him as a level 2. However in order to use oxygen in the facility you have to be level 3. Oops. So they increased my monthly price $[fee removed]. There was a lot of talk and concern and red tape concerning Doctors orders that frankly left me feeling rather uncomfortable. The community fee was $[fee removed]. They charged my card $[fee removed]. Oops. Then I got a letter welcoming a new executive director, apparently they did not have one at the time. They also had a new executive director in [dates removed]. At this point I'm done, and notify them that we would not be moving in. They assured me they understood. TODAY THEY DEDUCTED OVER [fee removed] FROM MY BANK ACCOUNT.The paperwork stated rent was $[fee removed]per month. So far, they will only communicate with me verbally, not in writing. They said they were trying to resolve the issue. If they do,I'll GLADLY EDIT
