I would continue to recommend it. My daughter and I looked at a lot of facilities and this is the only place we agreed on.

Management is awesome. At the caregiver stage, not so much. There is a lot of turnover. Have had multiple issues, particularly with 3rd shift. Problems are promptly addressed when brought to management attention, but I feel I should not be the watchdog. I feel for those residents needing advanced care that do not have an advocate.

The staff members are friendly and overall the cost is reasonable. The food that is prepared seems to be good. Yes, I would recommend this community to other families based on our experience. However, It isn't as clean as it was when she first got there but I think they try

My loved one was previously a resident at Huntington Place. I would not recommend the facility. There is resident theft by staff. It is always the resident's fault for being careless. The meals tend to be served cold. Security needs to be improved 100% - there is no feeling of Security for residents or resident's family. Well overpriced for living space and services!

dining changed after mom moved in, food menu became more exotic and not basics. Most residents wish they had pasta more often. They do have meetings for the residents and family to bring concerns forward. They have a new shower room which was one of the reasons we chose them. However it isn't used and they got rid of their hover lift after mom moved in due to insurance issues, which was another reason we selected them

The overall cleanliness of the facility is as good as it gets; however, the floor nurses are not very good at cleaning my parents' room and I have had to call them in on a regular basis. For example, one day I came in and the bathroom stunk of urine. In terms of care, they should be ashamed of themselves. I hired personal aides that are with my parents 24/7. The floor nurses see this and don't lift a finger to help. I've also seen the way they treat other residents at mealtimes. They sort of shove a spoonful of food at them and generally have a pretty careless attitude. So what exactly am I paying for? As far as I can tell, a one bedroom apartment with food and activities included. For the money (being in NYC) I guess it's okay. Let me know if you'd like to chat. I realize that all facilities are sort of like this except for the very best like Sunrise around the corner from me, but that's $[removed]/month. I just didn't know how poor the overall care was in the general industry. They are for profit institutions and they understaff to make money. Anyway, that's my feedback.

My loved one was previously a resident at HarborChase of Plainfield and overall, the experience was okay at best, not great. The frequent staff shortages seemed to plague the place. The main nurses were okay, but the agency nurses/care takers that they used didn't really care and were only there for a paycheck.

The facility is beautiful and if you are looking for independent living with some extra care it's a good choice. They do struggle to keep qualified nursing staff.

On the surface, the staff seems to be friendly, but as far as quality of care there are some who do as little as possible. There is little consistency of what they are supposed to do and what they actually do. They are understaffed at night and not equipped if something happens and someone needs assistance. (Ex. I was there and there was no nurse on staff to give someone medicine only aides who were not authorized to do so. They wanted to send someone to the hospital that only required some cough or allergy medicine)The administrative staff is not approachable. They are hard to set meetings with and very defensive if you have a concern. They are more concerned with the business side of it than the actual welfare of the residents. They do not seem to realize the challenges family members face when choosing a place for their loved ones. It is a hard adjustment on everyone and after paying the $[removed] fee that is non returnable and really not understood what it goes to you are kind of stuck if you are unhappy with your parent's care. They do not seem to want to partner in making it better for your loved ones, they just seem to be defensive and abrasive when hearing your concerns. In the beginning we were told that meals with our loved one was encouraged and as time went on they acted like it was an inconvenience for staff members to host other people even though we were paying for our own meals. Meal prices raised from $7 for dinner when my loved one first got there then went to $10 then to $16 in 6 months! I felt like it was a way to discourage me from eating with my loved one.

Five Star recently increased their prices considerably. They have a new food service company which we thought was going to mean better food but that has not happened. There are frequent issues with the heat and air conditioning I assume due to the age of the building. Staff is quick to address but still an issue. I would recommend them, these are the critiques but I am not unhappy with her being there. I'm sure there are issues everywhere. She has a roof over her head and is safe. I have a different experience with the staff than she does, they are always super friendly to me and for the most part with her too.

My downside was moving in during Christmas weekend. Did not get the attention needed to settle in. We love the appearance of the place and location. Staffing issues like everywhere. Mom's assessment put her in memory care. Reasons, to get better medical care. That's a big no! And for social stimulation, again a big no! We got tossed around with ideas to move her to assisted living, but must hire an aide. I couldn't reason with that when we are already expected to pay around $[removed]!! Her medical needs were not being watched properly. Half of the team was great. Other half, need to find a new career. In the three weeks we've been here, mom started to get her bedsores again. Got a UTI, which I had to tell them she had. They were not changing her often or she'd wait up to 45 minutes when she pulled the cord to be taken to the bathroom. Then I inquired about her blood sugar. Was told, we have to get an order to test. Ok. Waited a week. Approached again, same nurse, we have to get an order. Yes, so did you?! Told me to bring in my own blood tester. I did. Her blood sugar was 210! They took my tester to use. They don't provide. I asked if she will go back on her glipizide and Metformin like she used to do. Well, they didn't have it in the report from Brooke Grove, so no. Though they noticed she listed as diabetic. Also, her medication was not properly ordered. She takes Seroquel to control her anxiety from CBS. By the end of the first week, she was wide awake for 48 hours!! Finally got her meds the following week and she slept for 36 hours. The people in memory care for the most part are not social, due to dementia. No one for mom to talk with. The manager said, well you take her to her room before we are going to do something. I told her, I either take mom to her room because she told me she needs to be changed or she doesn't want to sit in the loud dark room. And, the manager can come to her room and ask if she would like to join. Never asks me or talks with me. Just text with short comments. I come every day to take her downstairs to eat with the assisted living people. Why me, because I will have to pay for a chauffeur. They were leaving mom's door unlocked. Several times other residents were found in her room. Undressing and yesterday, in her bed sleeping!! It took me 2 weeks to get a key to her room. Every time I inquired about something, I had to wait until our two week meeting. Meanwhile, the chef here got us a key. Finally, they are testing her blood daily and doing bloodwork this Friday. Oh, she had a hip replacement and needed PT and OT. Again, 3 weeks in before she was even evaluated. Yesterday we had a medical meeting with Ms [name removed], nurse [name removed], [name removed] the memory care manager, [name removed] who is the business manager, chef [name removed], and physical therapist. I listened. A few were defensive others were very caring and concerned with all I had to say, including, I just gave them a 30 day notice. I'm taking mom home. She does not fit in any place here. She cannot see or hear well. She has CBS, not so much in dementia. She needs physical therapy, social stimulation, not so much loud noise and dark rooms. Ms [name removed], PT and OT, nurse [name removed], Chef [name removed], all understood. We discussed ways to change things to see that mom's needs were met. Even reduce the cost. We are to follow up in two weeks. Today, door was not locked. Found her not participating in exercises but untangling yarn, which she hates to do. Because mom will just do as she is told. Nurse [name removed] whom has an issue with me because I ask questions, just handled me mom's reports. I asked what her blood sugar was today. Not very nicely, answered me 150. I will give them a chance, but gosh, heck of a lot of money to leave someone you love. And heartbroken that she isn't cared for properly. But, I will leave it at, they don't have the ability to meet mom's needs. Which I do understand.

When my Mother first moved in things were fine. Within a few months she had many items stolen. The quality of the food was awful. Served cold most of the time. The residents wouldn't eat much. The assistants were rude and talked to the residents rudely. My mother was in the memory care. I actually found her laying on her bed with no sheets or a blanket. She was freezing. I witnessed her asking for water and was turned down. I moved her immediately

My loved one is a resident at Voorhees Senior Living. This facility is not as expensive as others in the area. We have found that many Assisted Living facilities are over priced, even this one for what they provide. This facility needs to pay more attention to the caliber of staff that they hire. The facility itself is a very well constructed building with beautiful grounds.

I'm not sure if you can see the notes from my family's search, but I have a Nursing Degree, so I kind of knew what to look for. While, in my opinion, they provide care, my dad's Alzheimer's is too advanced for them to provide the necessary care for him. There were a few HIPA violations that I noticed and there were little to no activities. It would have been more stressful on my mom and my family even though he would have been much closer. Sorry to be so blunt. I'm sure it's fine for some, but not my family

Improvements: a call button was not issued immediately - this took two months. Once our loved one was places on hospice, things did get better with the care. There are some communication issues between staff members. It took them three months to get our loved ones meal plan straightened out. Nighttime staff is a bit inconsistent. However when our loved one passed away, the staff were very kind to our family. If something wasn't ok I heard it from all of my siblings. Very stressful. I get the sense that there was a bit of overselling.

They have activities, but my loved one does not participate. They have a new administrator, who is making changes. They don't seem to have enough care aides. My loved one is benefiting from the therapy and is making improvements. The food is outstanding, and they have a lot of choices. They can improve with medication tracking. Overall, the building looks great, and is newly remodeled.
