This is my first experience with assisted living, so I have zero frame of reference. I can say though that I am frustrated that there is little to no outbound communication to me. I get no updates on how he is doing or anything like that. There is no follow up from the staff. He does have a doctor assigned to him and I have only spoken to him one time. Medication management is very expensive, and you do have to use their pharmacy. I got a very hefty bill and a lot of it was over the counter meds. I asked for the nurse to call me so I could buy him those OTC meds, and still I have not heard from anyone. All of the staff are super friendly I will say and the move in process was smooth. It really is a good place, these are just a few things that they could improve on. Overall I would recommend Brookdale Vernon Hills to others looking.

Brookdale has been a good experience for my mother. She has short term memory loss, so they're very good with her. They're very attentive to anything I mention or ask about. I think they're short-staffed, but the care they provide is good. I feel like the experience you'll have depends on how involved you are. I visit often and have a good rapport with the staff, including admin. For my mother and her limited needs, it has been a great fit. And i she needs memory care later on, I like that I see them including the memory care residents in the activities.

We went with Columbia Crossing because when I was there for the tour, the interaction between staff and residents is what really stuck out the most. They really keep in contact with the families, but I did have to push for that communication. Once I did that though they have been great. In memory care the food is just so so, but on the assisted living side the food is phenomenal. I would definitely recommend them to other families.

Our family had an in-person tour and based on everything we saw within the facility and the staff members we met with we thought it was a really nice experience.

I have lived here since 2016 (I believe) and was drawn to the community as soon as I walked in the door. It's a beautiful building and have enjoyed it while my husband and I resided here. He is no longer with me, and I moved to a one-bedroom and love it.

The employees are very helpful, and make an effort to know residents' names. I appreciate that very much. The facility is clean and the appearance is attractive. On holidays there is seasonal decoration. The ladies at the front desk are especially friendly as is.

One thing our loved one likes is that her room is right next to the nurses station which is convenient due to our loved ones vision loss. She really is enjoying the meals they prepared. We have had a couple issues with the miscommunication regarding the level of care but they are working on fixing the issue which we appreciate.

My loved one was here for a respite stay. If I remember right, their minimum for respite is 2 weeks. They have a ton of activities but we just weren't sure if they were getting him. He absolutely LOVED the food. The staff are all very friendly and it is a really nice facility, you walk in and it feels like a hotel. I was told that they keep regular staff and do not hire temporary staff, so it is the same people each day who know the residents. His room had the type of chair he needed for mobility that helped him to stand up so that was nice. They really try to make it feel like home. I would recommend Columbia Crossing to other families looking.

My loved ones room has been clean, and they seem to be well staffed. Often, it's a challenge to get someone to respond in a timely manner. Other than that, they are very friendly. We picked this place because, we needed a quality place to go to, and it checked all of the boxes for my loved one. They keep the residents moving/active.

My loved one seems to enjoy the food. They raised the rates, so it's expensive for the care. They need to be more assertive with my loved one. We are paying for the services, so they should be able to provide more independent care without relying on the family. The staff and residents are very friendly. They seem happy, and look out for my loved one. We picked this community because, the cost was good, the proximity, and it the layout of the facility was nice.

Our family had an in person tour and we thought they were all very nice and informative. and it would of been our first choice. However they would not let our loved ones stay together on the Alzheimer wing, so it just was not going to work out.

Majority of the staff is very loving and caring. When the group leader is off often there is no replacement. The food could be better. Overall I am satisfied with the care and I like that there are separate floors in the memory care between mild/moderate and advanced dementia. Also, it's newly renovated and the environment is very nice.

My loved one seems to like the food. The staff seems to be okay. Overall, I would recommend to other families.

Lovely facility, extremely friendly staff, great amenities and location. Can't wait for my loved one to move in and become a part of the community.

Sometimes the front desk lady is friendly. Sometimes she's grumpy. Housekeeping isn't the best. It depends on who is working that day. A lot of the residents complain about the food. But the apartment is nice and spacious with a good kitchen.

We love Brookdale. It was the first one we looked at but didn't need to go look at any others. Staff is great and really know the residents well. My husband is liking things and getting more and more involved in the activities.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a very nice tour experience, they staff were very friendly and it that would of been the only community choice we would of had no problem moving our loved one in

This is an excellent community. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The dining experience and activities are great for the residents. There are three meals a day served to the residents, and the family can join our loved one for meals. Some of the activities include: dog shows, entertainment, and more for the residents to participate in.

I toured this community. It was great! The staff was caring and compassionate. They were great about answering all of my questions! Wonderful place!

We chose HarborChase of Long Grove because they talked about a men's club that they had - most facilities are predominantly women so that was the driving reason that we chose this facility. The transition could have been done much better - there was an extreme circumstance with management and there was no back up plan. What they told us would be done, was not done so that could have gone smoother. Overall we have been pleased and would recommend them to others.
