My mother has moved into The Merdian. She was hesitate at first which is normal. After one month I asked her it she wanted to move back to her house and she said " no way" She wa living in the big family house alone for a few years and was ready to be around some nice people. We should have moved her to the Merdian a year earlier.

We were just there for a two week respite stay. It was clean and the staff is friendly. We didn't really have any complaints. The only thing was when we left we were missing a few pieces of clothing. But from what I have heard with any of these places, if you are worried about it, you do your own laundry.

Rooms are bigger than others, Clean, no odor, staff was friendly. Good first impression.

I pretty much like everything. I really don't have any complaints. I find them to be very, very kind. My mother has dementia. They seem to go over and above to make sure she was comfortable. They constantly reassure her, tell her everything was OK. There are a wide variety of activities for residents to do there. My mother mostly gets involved in things that had to do with music. She unfortunately isn't much of a joiner. The location is ideal for us, because I have seven brothers and sisters, and that is kind of centrally located in Washington township.

Although The Solana had some challenges in the past, I've been nothing but happy with the new management. The community has been more cheerful in recent months. The staff care a great deal for the residents and truly know them. Nothing is perfect but I am glad to see change for the good.

My loved one suffers advanced Alzheimer's disease and has lived in the memory care unit on the second floor since 2009. He is very comfortable and content at the Five Star. The program for entertainment and memory support is excellent and highly interactive. I visit regularly and appreciate the compassionate caring staff members. The residents on this floor are treated with respect and dignity. Nurses call me to let me know of needs as they arise. The cost is very reasonable for this level of care. I have compared the prices in multiple other memory care facilities. i observed that my loved one was content from day 1 when the family placed him here. He seemed more comfortable to be in the company of individuals suffering the same memory challenges he suffers rather than struggling with my help in public and in his old home. I immediately realized he is safer in a memory care unit than he ever was at home. He previously wandered away twice and it caused great worry. We also had challenges with potential kitchen fires. Another wonderful thing about the Five Star is they allow me to bring my dog to the memory support unit and encourage interaction with all interested residents. I always feel a sense of upbeat happiness, music, and nice decor while visiting. Residents have freedom on the protected floor to walk around in many different areas including a safe outdoor terrace. It is a wonderful place and I am truly thankful to the superb staff I have come to know over the years.

This is an absolutely beautiful place. My Mom loves it! Every day she looks at the schedule to see what she wants to do. There are so many choices of wonderful things, She is very happy there. The staff is professional and looks out for the residences. The maintenance is up to date and on top of any issues. It is worth the cost.

They are very clean, and the staff is very friendly. My dad likes it there, he likes the food, and he likes the people. This was such a great fit, we didn't need to look at other places.

I placed my mom, who has alzheimers there. She is doing well there and seems comfortable.

It’s very, very activity oriented, there are lots of things to do right outside of the facility, so even if your loved one – there is so many things to do. I have tried the food – it is decent. What’s great about this place – instead of a cafeteria style dining – it’s more restaurant like. The servers have bow ties and everything. There are lots of choices for the residents.

My mother and I were so impressed by 5 Star that it made her decision easy! She had not yet committed to moving to independent living when we visited the facility but everything about it helped to make up her mind. She moved in last week and so far so good!

My 87 year old mom was very reluctant to move from her townhome to a supported living community. However, her ability to safely drive was in question and the safety of her living alone became a concern, so we urged her to decide on where she'd like to live next. We toured a few places, after having had toured various senior communities for years. She decided on Brookdale Plaza (formerly The Park) because she felt that she would be proud to have friends and family visit her there. While the adjustment took a little time, I'm happy to report that she now loves it. The staff knew her by name within a week. She participates in a variety of events and activities. I am certain that she is healthier as a result of moving there. She no longer drives, but continues to be independent due to the driving services that The Plaza offers. She has also been delighted to host a variety of family events, as families are welcome! We've had birthday parties, a wedding shower and Mother's Day brunch there. The staff is always welcoming and helpful. She is particularly fond of the drivers and maintenance staff who cheerfully drive her to church or assist with various projects in her apartment. Mom calls it 'Vegas without the Machines and Florida without the bugs'! Probably the only concern we've had has been the pool chemicals and temperature. They could do a better job on that. Otherwise, like any place where there are many different residents, a few issues come up here and there. The staff and administration do respond to concerns. The setting is so beautiful and it was great to know that during the 'Polar Vortex' she was safe, warm, had beautiful surroundings and lots to do - without stepping a foot outside. Another convenience is that Northshore Medical Group is next door, as well as a lot of stores and restaurants. Great place and great location!

My Aunt and I toured and stayed for lunch and we both really enjoyed our meal. Rolando was one of the servers who sang to the residents and they all chimed in. She really loved the common area decor and the staff; probably everything about the place. I like how many options they have for floor plans. I'm sure my Aunt will find a home here.

My grandmother has been there about a year now and has nothing but good things to say. Although this was a difficult decision, it has been the best decision for her wellbeing; both physically and emotionally. She now has regular companionship and has made friends. The staff and residents have exceeded my expectations in making her feel welcomed and "one of the family". As soon as you walk into The Solana Olney it just feels like home. We have found the staff to be the key to a warm, caring, healthy environment. They really answered all my questions and went out of their way to help with the transition from home to assisted living for my grandmother, and even for us kids. My grandmother’s current state of health gives her the opportunity to be with some people who still have mobility like her. The facility constantly offers projects and events for the residents. I am very pleased with all aspects of my grandmother’s care and have recommended the community to many of my friends with elderly family needing assisted living.

Everything has been great here so far, we're very pleased with the community! It's a nice clean place, and the staff have all been very friendly. My Mom really seems to be enjoying herself here, and if she is happy I am happy! She's had nothing but good things to say about the food, as well.

So far we've had a great experience with Brookdale Place! They couldn't have been more helpful throughout this whole process, they've been nothing but wonderful and accommodating. They've been very receptive to the specific needs of our loved one, and very patient when it comes to working with him. They have a lot to offer here, they have an on-site in-home care agency for any supplemental care a family needs, as well as various sorts of visiting doctors.

They are above average with everything. I would highly recommend them. The issues we are having are with our loved one, not the community. The cleanliness, the staff all of that is very good. The food is good, and they respond quickly all of that is good. We are happy with them.

I've been really pleased. They are very nice, and they are clean. The rent doesn't include all the meals, and that can add up. She was really pleased with the laundry. The food is phenomenal here it's amazing, high quality, very nutritious, they even have fish. It was very homey and the residents were really happy. It was like home, and the people at the front desk were really helpful. The guy who showed us around, knew everyone's name and a little something about them.

Everything is fantastic! Fives all the way! The only thing is the food. The portion size is a little small. They’ve scaled back on portion size a little bit. I really feel that it is a very caring staff. It’s very clean. We’re very happy with this community.
