[name removed] who gave me the tour was very knowledgeable. The facility was nice, but nothing really wowed me.

VSL, which is now CIEL, seems to be a very nice place. The people seem nice and friendly. The cost, although obscene, is lower than many other places. My spouse has been there since [Date Removed]. Currently, she is in a rehab after breaking a hip falling out of bed.

I would rate the experience a 4.5. The people are very friendly and there are a lot of activities if you are inclined to attend.

Ciel has evolved over the years to provide improved service, activities and support to its residents. My father has lived here over 5 years and continued to enjoy and feel safe at Ciel. Staff are friendly, responsive and safe and the food is good too.

The staff and food/ dining are all excellent. Cleanliness and size of apartment are more than adequate. My mother attends few activities because of her dementia, but the staff attempt to include her whenever possible. There is a continuing issue with bugs on the ground floor, because the entrance doors are frequently open for movers and visitors, but there are regular pest control visits included in the apartment rental so I believe management is doing the best they can.

We visited while looking for memory care for mom. The place was clean and set up nicely. Apparently the whole building will be getting new carpet this year. The room we saw was decent size with room for bed, nightstand and chair. The “Sensory Room” was odd.

It scored highly on our three most important characteristics; smell, cleanliness and staff attitude.

I think it's nice that they stop by the rooms and try to get people involved in different activities. As far as improvements I would say when a new resident moves in make sure they are aware that nursing staff will be checking on them throughout the night

The staff have been attentive and caring for the most part. I feel like they are really helping our family through the transition of having new management. They helped us last year find a place to have my daughter's birthday party. We had it in a room at Five Star. The apartment t is beautiful and the staff have helped to hang pictures. The apartment has a view of the Hudson River in the living room and bedroom . I wish there was a bath in the bathroom. One elevator has been broken for months. That makes things run slower and that is a problem. My mom has trouble with the dining room. She sits with others who are either too low functioning for her or too high functioning. I think staff should be available in the dining room to sit at tables and help out people who are struggling to make conversation. Also, I think that if they can't do that then they should allow aides to come to the dining room to help people have discussions and also help with the logistics of eating their food. The activities are not enjoyable to my mom. There need to be more activities with just singing and music and dance. Not exercise but dance. There should be weekly support groups to help people talk about loss and grief which is a big part of life at this age. On a good note, they allow my mom to linger a long time in the dining room after dinner has been served.

The caregivers and med techs I come into contact with on a daily basis seem to truly love the residents they take care of. I give them a 5 but upper staff is where the 4 comes from. Caregivers and med techs are much more important to the well being of the resident. But they have to take orders from above of course.

They could do a little better on cleaning of the residents rooms. But every time I have mentioned it , they got immediately on it. Overall they are wonderful. Very friendly and listen to me every time. Very excellent attention to my mom. They really treat her well.

Food is being revamped (thank goodness) Activities staff are great Dining servers are in training and have challenges sometimes

The staff is always willing to help, willing to find solutions, and makes you feel welcome. The rooms are very nice and clean. Lots of different activities.

Spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff. The administration makes itself readily available for questions and concerns.

Friendly staff, good quality food, caring staff. Ability to communicate with staff would benefit from improvement ie being able to communicate with direct care staff. Staff turnover frustrating at times. Charging [removed] dollars for food delivery x 3 a day is very expensive - and tray removal very slow. Mom is happy and feels safe here which is the family's largest goal

Nice and clean, nice food menu, and good activities. I think the administrative staff could improve by reaching out to family (phone calls) on any changes of family member changes of health or needs.

Ciel was wonderful overall. There were some concerns around staffing or lack of in the memory care unit; however, an overall great experience I believe.

They provide transportation within 10 miles of the facility on designated days. Plenty of activities. A very nice facility overall.

Shuttle service, salon , dr visits all the other extra logistics for life stuff is what stuck out over other places.

Overall, very nice place, friendly staff, homey environment ; just not as much oversight as I expected. Edible items were not put out of sight , the floor was greasy , they did not ensure all paperwork was completed when we moved in. I was told to leave him alone for at least a week do he could acclimate. In retrospect, in his case, I should have been more hands on . He probably felt totally lost and abandoned by me. He was not being cooperative. There are so many things that seemed obvious to me that they ( the specialists in memory care) did not seem to consider. My husband could be difficult when prompted to change his pants and/or to take a shower. But he would brush his own teeth of offered the toothbrush, and he would drink or eat everything I put in front of him. He slept a lot during the day. They had scheduled meals, I do not know if they gave him food as needed when he was awake. I never saw water or coffee available. At home he always had a beverage easily available. I made sure he took his meds ok. There, I think they just set them in front of him and did not watch to see they were swallowed. ( at least that is how it appeared when I was there with no more than 4oz of juice). I think maybe the staff taking care of that wing were borrowed from the assisted living side (?). I could only maybe give some advice on looking for help with care. But everyone has a different upbringing, living environment, emotional needs ....
