I would not recommend this facility to anyone. It has been mismanaged from the start. There is not enough staff on hand to care for the residents' needs. The care givers are asked to do everything. They don't have enough time to actually care for the residents! The housekeeping has gone by the wayside. Always an excuse why something is not taken care of.

This has been our only experience with senior living so I'm not sure if other places are any better. Cedarhurst hires kids (probably for minimum wage) who do not treat elderly people with any respect. These kids treat their residents as children. The food has been mentioned by others. They say "restaurant dining" in their sales pitch which is about as far from the truth as you can get. If you send your meal back to the kitchen to get it fixed (which usually involves finishing the cooking cycle) you may wait 30 minutes to get it back. [name removed], residents don't send it back. It frustrates our family deeply witnessing what happens at Cedarhurst of Woodstock and we have started to investigate other options.

We've had an awful experience. Activities and events are great and some staff are dependable, but I regret ever suggesting this place for my loved one. We tried to give the benefit of the doubt at first since it had just opened, but over time it became obvious nothing was going to improve. Thankfully we had a video monitoring system in her room, otherwise we never would have known everything was happening. Simple parts of the care plan have not been followed for the entire year she’s been there – including hygiene elements. Poor treatment by some staff including pulling bedsheets off while she was still in bed and turning bright lights on during middle of the night checks. Early on she was left alone to shower without assistance. Luckily family was there and able to help her. The other day her walker was left a good 10 ft away from her while she ate, and she had to use a dining chair to walk to it when she was done because nobody was watching to help. There's what they tell you is included and then there's what you actually get and there's a big gulf between these two. if you have a relative in Cedarhurst, you will need to advocate constantly to assure your relative gets the services that are included in the contract. If a resident presses their pendant, it could be 30 minutes before someone responds. Imagine if your relative has a medical emergency and presses the pendant and 30 minutes pass before someone comes. Not okay. It's all flash with no substance.

I do not have anything good to say about Cedarhurst. Don't go, they sure make it sound great until you get there and then well maybe you'll get your medication most likely not. My mom was there not even an entire month and then wouldn't take her back once she was released from the hospital and they couldn't return the one time fee that was a crazy amount, I can't believe I even agreed to that but I also thought she would be there for a long time not 3wks. It's not all what it seems.

This place does not put residents first. They do not answer the call buttons very quickly. My grandfather has lived here for almost a year now and the first few months he was afraid to sleep in his own bed because when he pressed the call button no one would come. Months later we are still having this issue. He requires assistance for everything. He called me to let me know if he died it’s because he fell and no one came. There are some great employees that take care of him and we appreciate them. But their lack of answering the call button is ridiculous.

I think they cheated my father out of money and the food continues to be less than it should. I have questions every month on billings.

My mom is a resident of Cedarhurst, Lebanon. She was in the Independent Living section until recently whe she had a bad fall there. After the fall she was in a wheelchair full time and needed more assistance.       Before she was moved to Memory Care - staff in Independent Living recognized mom was having difficulty cutting food,  like large chunks of roast beef. Staff recognized that could be attributed to her new diagnosis of early dementia and cut for her safety. They said it took just a minute.     The fall not only put her in a wheelchair full time, but also weakened her left hand She can barely hold a knife.      Today I was very concerned as she coughed and choked on her chicken strip salad. So I asked what happened to precutting?      A nurse said there is nothing written in moms record, so they couldn't do it. Knowing it was "easily" done before -  I felt the staff person was rude and uncaring about an obvious health hazard. Is this the "extra help" promised in memory care

They don't even deserve a one star rating. My mom was moved from there that place is horrible and you should not recommend them I moved her 2 months later after she had 11 falls 3 ended in the er because the staff never checked on her. Because Feb only had 28 days I had to pay for March too as it wasn't a full month's notice She was in memory care for dementia and they had no memory care director. I've moved her back to a facility where I pay 10k but she is in great care. They follow up with everything and do meetings every 90 days. If I could sue Cedarhurst I would but no lawyer will go after them. The room was so small and she never left the room. They let anyone check her out with no sign in or out. At one point they called me to say she was missing. In Jan 2023 someone took her out and the doors closed on her sending to the er. She fell who h was number 11 and 911 was called because she was along and the don't know how long she had been down but blood was all over the floor and her face was bruised and had cuts from Her glasses breaking and cutting her face. When they called and asked to bring her back I said none why and they said the falls where her fault for not asking for help.

Select staff/nurses are great. [names removed] (corporate) are wonderful. They make this place go round. [name removed](corporate) Most condescending, unprofessional, and insensitive person I’ve met. [name removed] wanted to immediately evict my mother-in-law with 24 hours against a psychiatrist’s recommendation. We chose Cedarhurst based on their policy they are knowledgeable and trained in Alzheimer’s/Dementia care and can handle multiple situations. My mother in law is prone to UTIs (makes her crazy), she had some aggravated behaviors (normal for this disease) Had a bad UTI in Nov 2023 and once clear was normal. No behavior for 5 months and then evicted out of the blue in Mar 2024. No conversation that was a possibility or in the works. Raised rent 10% even then this is a cheaper facility than most, but classic “you get what you pay for” nice walls and decor don’t know how to handle these residents. Also use agency who don’t care about residents

I normally visit my 103yr old dad every day and do general housekeeping for him. I was gone 3 days due to illness and came back to find his apartment smelled like an outhouse! His bedroom commode which needs to be emptied every day was full. His bathroom toilet was full. I had called "caregiver" staff twice yesterday to remind them to empty his commode, but they hadn't. It took a lot out of my dad to move here and I can't move him again. High turnover of staff here. If I didn't come here every day, they'd ignore him. Some of the nurses are rude, a couple are caring. Mixed bag.

I took my Mom here for a 2 week respite stay but only lasted 6 days. The best way to describe this place is unorganized and incompetent. They were given all the information needed to provide outstanding care for Mom including the Med list which was provided, twice. Daily drama from this facility; rather it be inaccurate distribution of meds or clear violation of Resident rights, its a disaster. Mom's meds were clearly off as she started hallucinating and falling... After abruptly removing her from this facility it took me over a week to get her back to "normal". They are short staffed and it shows. This place should not be trusted to care for your loved ones.

This facility started out great but recent changes in admin and other areas have me very concerned. No regular administrator, no head RN, money being pulled from my fathers bank account for no reason and no one able to get it back. Also the quality of food has sunk to new lows. My father informed me of a possible food poisoning outbreak. I was told that there was a Christmas lunch for family but they sent the invites out without stamps so they all came back. Someone needs to take charge at this facility now!

My mom was given the option of a hot dog or a grilled cheese for dinner on Christmas. She pays $[removed]dollars a month to live here. Then the manager on duty wouldn't even comment if she thought that was a proper level of care for what she pays. The manager on [name removed] and frankly I would be embarrassed to have her manage anything. Zero help and doesn't even know who to contact or there numbers. Do something if you are actually a manager.

Oh it’s a pretty place alright and the meals look good but beware. My Mother started at assisted living. Then she had repeated falls and they moved her to memory care and paid over [amount removed] a month for 3 level of care and they were to look in on her every 2 hours. Well she continued to fall. She had over 10 falls in 3 months. You pay [amount removed] for a call pendent but they take their time to answer the resident, they are too busy with taking breaks. As a fall risk resident they don’t invest in fall detection pendent which is needed should a resident fall and is unconscious. Not a place for fall risk family members. For my mom’s safety we removed her from Cedarhurst Ft Wayne.

That lasted about 4 months. The amount of turnover has been unbelievable. I understand this is not an easy job. From the Director and Assistant Director being forced out or fired to Assistant Nursing Director leaving. Everyone we had a relationship with is gone. They are severely understaffed in Memory Care. The attention to detail, care and communication have been terrible the last three months. The final straw was getting a call that my mother has declined and that she needs enhanced care. There would be a [amount removed] fee increase for that. We were told when we moved her in that it was the same price no matter her level of care and she can stay until end of life. I said that was not the agreement and there is nothing in the contract stating that. I told the new director I would like to talk to her boss. I never heard from them. Then it was relayed to me that the directors boss simply emailed her back and said no exceptions. We are now moving my mother to another facility. Bait and Switch.

My loved one was previously a resident at Cedarhurst of Oakwood and the whole experience at this facility was terrible. The communication between the top staff to the bottom staff is terrible. Communication between staff members and the families is also terrible. We had a bad experience. I would not recommend Cedarhurst of Oakwood to family and friends.

We transfered my loved one, out of the place after a month since it was soo bad. The experience was not good. I would tell a friend, to put there family member somewhere else.

There is no nurse at night, no transportation to the hospital at night, the bus only ran on certain days to go shopping or to doctors appointments, infrequent or no checking on residents at evenings or night either. Based off of our experience, I do not recommend Cedarhurst of Springfield to others.

We told them we needed memory care. They must have price assisted living. At signing time it went from [removed] thousand. We were out of time. Told them we would go month to month and look elsewhere. We never moved in. Another place where we were on a waiting list called. Cedarhurst kept all of our money. A partial month, a full month, and a deposit. About [removed] thousand!
