Cedarhurst Living LLC

It was a very nice place and very well-maintained. They had good food. Most of the staff was pretty good, although some needed a little work. They had really good activities, but I would have liked to see them encourage the residents more to do them. But it was a good place overall. I myself would even consider going there one day if I need care.

Since this is my first experience with Assisted Living, I would say do your research.The staff tries to be helpful. The food was good. The facility are beautiful. They have vary nice outdoor space. Some of the staff really stood out.

Staff is kind and patient with my mother. They provide timely family updates. It's nice to know she's safe and well cared for.

The front-page carefiving staff is awesome. Very caring, and they get to know the residents. It's a different environment... Lots of residents and staff in one place, so a long walk for them from one place to the next. The residents doors are all locked, with the staff having the only keys, so if you go with your loved one back to their room, you then need to look for someone to let you in. My mom was not there long, but the front-page staff were truly sad to see her go. It's nice that everything is furnished. She had a private room, but had to share a bathroom with her neighbor. Considering she was removed from her prior placement for hitting, I'm not sure how this would have gone in the long term. Management staff seem very disorganized and not as caring.

The Elmcroft was a pleasant community. The staff was very nice and treated me well during my tour. They did not offer me meals during my tour. The memory care unit was nice in this facility, while we were walking around there was a birthday party going on in one of the rooms and the residents have a mixture of activities.

I did not like the part about the residents doors being locked and needing a key to get in from the outside. My friend needed more care than the community was able to provide. He was only there for a short respite care. The staff were nice. It is a beautiful newer community. He liked the food.

Mom recently moved into Tesson Heights. They have outstanding nursing mangers Rick and Latoya. Mom really didn't won't to leave home. Latoya was so nice when she came to visit before she moved and made mom comfortable enough to give it a try. The Managers followed up personally for the 1st week for so to make sure she was adjusting well. Every staff member has been nice to my mother. The apt has room for most of mom's things to make it feel like home. I see that they have remodeled the building recently and its very nice inside. Thank everyone for the great care you give my mother. I recommend tesson to families go are looking for a place that provide quality care.

We have been treated well and my father seems to be adjusting.

I think they could be better but [name removed] seems to like it there. They seem to always be short handed. The food is average, and the apartment is ok.

I had to pull my dad out of Cedarhurst Bethalto. I would not recommend that place. I have now moved him into assisted-living at [community removed] and I'm very satisfied so far. It was not a good fit because the environment was very triggering for my father and memory care and they were trying to send him out to have inpatient psychiatric treatment which he did not need

Place is clean, most of the staff are pleasant and do a good job, but they have a staffing problem with turnover and problems with my mom getting help in the evenings to get ready for bed. Had a meeting with the executive director and assistant executive director to correct the issue with evening care. Hopefully this will improve. Food is pretty good but my mom has acid reflux and on a special diet, can't have tomatoes, spicy foods etc. They are not doing that and feeding her food she shouldn't have. Trying to resolve this but difficult with the turnover in help. She is happy there and they do an excellent job with activities and medications.

It's a large community & can be overwhelming to some people. They have high acuity residents that require total care & it's hard for the care assistants to keep up with their team. My mom has noise intolerance & the dining room can be very noisy. They encourage activities but she doesn't like to be around a lot of people & noise. The food is good most of the time. You can order food from their everyday menu or choose the daily special. They have residents that have mild to severe Alzheimer's. The staff are very nice & administration is supportive. The cost is higher than other memory facilities but offer more services. I don't think it's worth the monthly rent.

Basically, we had to visit everyday to make sure they were doing what they said they would do. In assisted living, there are some very hard working staff. However, they do not have enough staff to help when people call for help. They need to have one staff member dedicated to giving baths and helping folks to bed nightly and another staff member just answering emergency calls. The assisted living side needed some staff members to get off of their personal phone. A night manager might help keep the staff working. It is a shame because the workers all get grouped together- there are some workers that really do a great job and care about people- others are just waiting to go home. Make sure you advocate daily for your loved ones for the first 2 weeks to verify their medicines are correct.

Over all experience-3, cleanliness-2 I know it is hard but place spells like urine when you first walk in. Friendliness-5 everyone is very friendly and so helpful. Quality of care-3 could have lose that are incontinent go to bathroom every couple hours instead of just letting them sit there between meals. staff is fine-4. Food-4 get variety. Quality for money-4. This place is cheaper than most, still think all places are so expensive-3 Activities-5 there are a few people that are able to attend. Hard to find things for broad spectrum of memory issues

Cedarhurst has an outstanding front desk representative. Almost all of the staff learns their residents' first names and will greet them. Med techs have been really great and personable. Room cleaning did not occur for 4 weeks, and I had to speak up several times. Bedding was not changed even though it is supposed to be changed weekly. I eventually did it for my loved one and washed it. On the cleaning and laundry, clear communication from Cedarhurst from the beginning could have prevented any lack of services. Laundry took several weeks before they told us what days to set the laundry out. I had to make several calls. They do not have clear TV channels as part of the advertised package in the room. They are "working on it"-it has taken 3 weeks of me following up to finally get that answer from them. They could easily rectify all of this. Some has been corrected and they say they will address the rest soon. Overall, I like the place a lot and am glad my loved one is there. A big plus is being offered breakfast food all day and being able to dine at any time. I do wish they could encourage my loved one to participate in activities, but I can't say if it's them declining or not. I would have liked someone to have helped them during the first few days when they were left there, as the transition is very hard and they were lost. They still don't know where the exercise room is.

It's a nice facility with good size rooms. The people were pretty nice, it just ended up being to much money for us. Food was pretty good, just too expensive.

Cedarhurst didn't want to work with me financially at all and wasted my time. Staff is ok, however there is a short older lady with grey hair n glasses. Horrible attitude and very rude. She's definitely in the wrong industry. I wouldn't move my mom there due to her alone. I'm glad we stayed with Manor Lake as they worked with us financially and staff is all great.

Bottom line, you must always be an advocate and call attention to what your family member needs. Cleanliness of Facility:9 everywhere, but my husband’s room, which I give a 6. I just had a conversation about doing a more thorough clean weekly and especially after residents have bathroom issues. Poor communication between head of memory care and staff. After all that, I would recommend Cedarhurst, but just pay attention

It was a very nice facility, the help was friendly. Real nice room that they was going to reserve for the two of us. One big problem. They didn't tell us up front that this is a private pay.once your money runs out, your out. No medicaid accepted. They told that fact to my grandson while I was in the bathroom. Later on our way home I ask my grandson if tour guide told him anything that we should know and that's when I found out about the no medicade. I was very disappointed with the tour guide, when I called her she said I didn't ask. I told her that was the first thing she should have told me, way back when I talked to her on the phone, it would of saved me a 200 mile trip.
