While touring properties with my mother, I am mostly considering this location to move her. The lady that runs it was very friendly, she took the time to answer our questions, and she really connected with my mom very well. She was willing to sit down with us and show my mother around the facility. It is a smaller facility which my mother liked. My mother is from a small town so it made her feel comfortable and it made her feel like she would get individual attention. The rooms that we saw were nice not too small that have their own private bathrooms and showers. They would have 12 rooms in one hall, 6 on one side and 6 on the other. Then they would have the central kitchen and dining area. We didn’t get a chance to eat the food but we noticed that they posted on a whiteboard what’s on the menu that day. It sounded good and it seems that they do that daily. We were also very impressed on their cleanliness. Everything looked new, from their kitchen to the private rooms. I wasn’t sure how often they do the laundry or take out the trash, but I didn’t see any trash bags overflowing or anything so it was a good sign. I would recommend this place to others. They also have some fun activities like BBQs in the summer and they play bingo with the residents. Since they don’t have on site church service the staff has worked with nearby churches who offer transportation for the residents who want to enjoy church. I thought that this was attractive because it would get the residents out and about.

Very pleased with Bristol Manor at Smithville, MO. The food is excellent and the people are very helpful and friendly. Small, homey atmosphere. Only downside is the parking lot not being cleared of ice and snow in the winter.

Bring your own TV as the rooms don't have any there's no internet or cable TV other then that it was okay.

It's very small and very quiet. Not a ton of activities but they do a great job caring for their residents. I would recommend to others.

The staff helped Mom with her wash and changing her bed because she was unable to take care of it herself. Even though it was assisted living they did more for her than expected. They were always nice and helpful to us when we showed up. They would have welcomed us for dinner if we wanted to stay for dinner. It was basically a quiet facility.

Essex did a good job all things considered. Had to move sis because they said she would need more assistance than they could provide. Good facility compared to others I looked at. Staff too small. Too much turn over in staff!!! Staff under payed. They can make more at almost any job around.

The Bristol Company (which includes Ashbury Heights) model is small places with a dozen residents and few staff, and very low price compared to other assisted living facilities. They don’t offer much at all in the way of activities. The staff work hard to care for the residents and don’t have much time to be setting up games or entertainment except for special occasions. In my experience with two Bristol facilities, in Fayette and Centralia, I have liked the staff and found them to be caring, although at times they have to be firm, for reasonable reasons. One downside about the small number of residents, and their different stages of aging decline, is that there are not a lot of choices when it comes to making friends between the residents. However, Bristol’s business model makes it possible for my mom to live in assisted living and still have some savings. And they do take Medicaid residents, which made it possible for another relative to live in the [community removed].

Generally our loved ones are enjoying it there. Maintenance is slow and there is some internal drama but overall for the money, you can't beat it.

My dad is comfortable there and has been welcomed by everyone. Yes, we would recommend the Essex of Mexico to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

The facility has a new administrator and staff which has made a world of difference. They had some issues with the previous ones but have made some very positive changes recently. Great place for loved one. We picked this community because of the convenience, spacious rooms and homelike atmosphere.

The staff were consistently caring and helpful. Turn over was very high, so house managers changed frequently. This seems to be a reality of health care and perhaps all industries at this time. Administration came in at one point and discouraged people from filing grievances (apparently someone was viewed as filing too many/frivolous grievances). This was not helpful.

Transitioning to the new place at first was awkward. There was a quick turnover in management and it was confusing. However, the new administrator is wonderful. My mom quickly fell in love with her and is happy in her new home.

Finding a facility for our mother was a trying process as one would expect. We all want the best of the best, especially for our aging parents. Two years ago, I wouldn't have given Bristol Manor a second thought if someone had suggested it. Today, choosing to move our mother into this facility has been one of the best decisions yet. The way you feel as if you are walking into "home" when you go through the front door, gave me full confidence in leaving my mother here. The administrator is the main reason we chose to move Mom in. Her compassion and ability to make each and every resident feel heard, cared for, and safe while providing amazing assistance with ADL's and managing to keep the entire facility, residents rooms and all, clean and comfortable is something we will not find anywhere else. So, if you'd ask me today, there's no place I'd rather have my mother than Bristol Manor of Carrollton.

I love that it is a very small community more like a home. Each has their own private room and private bath. That's very hard to find.

We like that the manager is level headed and seems to be organized. We like the food overall, and my brother who lives there had dental surgery and they accommodated his need for soft food. Things for improvement. There seems to be an overall neglect of the property. Inside is very dated and dreary. The potholes in the driveway are just awful. The residents are not able to lock their doors. In a way I understand this but if management had a master key then it seems like it would be safer. For a while there were 2 residents who entered by brothers room without permission. There was little he could do.

I would recommend it. We picked the community because of the appearance of the facility and the location.

Well, my brother is the client and he has mental illness but it sounds like there isn't much communication to the clients about what is going on. As an example, the manager and her boyfriend live on site. My brother complains that they go to an amusement park everyday. I've tried to tell him that she probably has vacation days or comp days when she does that, but it is upsetting to him. I understand that he doesn't need to know but it would be a nice courtesy if the manager is "out" for the clients to know. For such a small and affordable place overall I think they do a nice job.

The facility is always clean when I come to visit. It's a friendly place. The staff are good people, and they genuinely care about the people they serve. My dad likes it there and is able to maintain his independence.

[name removed] was amazing and very very accommodating and had lots of patience. We very much appreciated her care. Based on the experience we have had with Bristol Manor of Warsaw we would recommend the community to other families.

Bristol was in Wentzville that I looked at and not really a skilled facility. Very small and no activities. Not ideal for someone with memory issues. More of a residential care not assisted living.
