Bonaventure

We toured here when we were looking around and this was a very nice place as well. The only reason we didn't pick this one, was location. The other community we were looking at was a little closer to the doctor, and all the appointments.

My dad has only been there for about a month so, we are still ironing out wrinkles but, overall, it seems to be on par with the other facilities we toured. It's reasonably valued. The staff seems to be friendly and seem to genuinely care about the residents.

My mom was looking for a place to live close to the family but where she could still feel in charge of her life. Silver Creek has really filled the bill. She has a lovely apartment, with activities she enjoys. The staff is so friendly that she felt at home very quickly. I was worried that she would find it hard to use the shuttle to go to the store, but one of the other residents invited her to go together. Her only complaint is that everyone is so forgetful :) She is so much happier than she was living with us. She is more engaged and active, enjoys the activities and entertainment and says she needs to watch all the desserts! Mom gets to see us when she wants, enjoys people her age and have everything in her own space just the way she wants. It may not be quite as perfect as being in her own home, but at 93 she no longer wanted to keep up a 4 bedroom home for just herself over 2 hours away from all the rest of her family. It is wonderful to know she is close and happy.

They have excellent care. It's brand new and beautiful. They have wonderful programs and activities, but they are a little on the expensive side. It was just a lot to pay, we found comparable and even a little better care for almost half the price.

My mom was just there for respite for one week. The care was good and the activities were okay. I think they have some activities but it's a pretty sedate facility. I don't know how many people participate but it seemed like there are about 45 people there, there might be 4 that participate in any given activity so it's not a very lively group and by 6 o'clock everything shuts down. There is really nothing going on after dinner. That was too bad because my mom is kind of a night owl and really enjoys socializing after dinner. Besides that she really enjoyed it. It's a nice facility, fairly small. Overall I though it was great.

Overall experience, I would say four stars I feel that there is room for improvement for a blind client as far as she needs extra just friendship and people coming in and maybe spending a few minutes with her just ask her how she's doing and remembering to bring her the right meals and stuff because she can't see but if you were a resident without limitations, I think the overall experience is five stars.

I spent a significant amount of time at this facility while my mother lived there, which gave me a good opportunity to observe how things operate day to day. The aides generally provide good personal service, especially when family members are present and involved frequently. Being around often seemed to help ensure my mom received attentive care. The dining areas and common rooms are usually well kept. However, hallways sometimes get overlooked. There were occasions where things like overflowing trash or wrappers on the floor sat longer than they should have. One thing I noticed over time is that residents whose families visit often tend to receive more attention from staff. While that can benefit those residents, it may leave others at a disadvantage if they don’t have visitors as frequently. The core aide staff are probably the strongest part of this facility. In an industry known for high turnover, this group has done a good job supporting each other and sharing responsibilities. Where the facility struggles most is in leadership stability. Over the years there has been a long history of turnover in key management positions. That lack of consistency is very difficult for seniors who depend on routine and stability, and it was ultimately the main reason I gave my mom a negative recommendation about staying there long term. Food quality has declined and feels very institutional. The loss and turnover of chefs seemed to result in a reset to very basic menus. The activities program has potential because of the size of the resident population, but corporate-driven turnover makes it hard to maintain consistency. Residents often feel those disruptions. Many of the larger issues appear to come from corporate-level decisions rather than the local staff. For example, when my mom moved in after a remodel, bathroom vent fans had been removed in multiple units in what is supposed to be an HVAC-controlled building. The suggested solution was simply opening a window, which raised concerns about building code compliance. One important thing for families researching options: this facility does not accept Medicaid. Residents cannot transition to Medicaid coverage after a few years, which is something people should be aware of when considering long-term affordability.

We like the facilities and the staff as well as the food. They just raise the rent [date removed] which made them a 4 not a 5.

The building is very clean. The apartment is very nice. We did have some issues with the quality of the food and I spoke to the corporate office and my parents are happier. Now. There has been a good amount of turnover and that is hard for the community. The activities director was loved, but she had to take a position that paid more and the residents were very sad to see her go. Go. It doesn't sound like activities are back to the level they were at last summer.

My loved one initially moved into assisted living, and the experience was positive. The meals were good, the apartment was comfortable, and services like housekeeping were handled regularly. On a few occasions when help was needed, staff were responsive and assisted appropriately. After the transition to memory care, the experience declined. The food and overall dining experience were noticeably different, and the level of cleanliness and housekeeping was inconsistent. At times, staffing did not seem adequate. There were also concerns about personal care, as my loved one did not always appear well-groomed. In addition, billing was disorganized and often unclear, with unexpected charges appearing on statements.

Convenience of parking, free coffee and snacks at Bistro, pleasant décor. My only negative feedback is the smell in Memory Care. I acknowledge the population is continence challenging but it would be nice if there was a less perfumed approach to covering the smell. I should say [name removed] in Memory care does a phenomenal job.

Rating Bonaventure of Lacey, is overall good. The only reason I give it a 4 is because nothing is perfect. But the good far outweighs the bad here. There are different sizes of rooms and apartments. You can choose the one that suits your needs based on availability. I find the staff to be responsive and helpful. The activity schedule every day is full of things to do. The menu is varied to accommodate everyone's tastes. I personally like living here.

They were easy to contact and meet with. [name removed] showed us a few variations of rooms which my mom appreciated. We also had a to complicate things because of my mom's extreme sensitivity to sun glare we had to be sure the room was facing south (luck was on our side)and they were willing to work with us On when we moved in. All the staff has been very welcoming and friendly. They redirect mom when she gets turned around. They have numerous activities so not hard to find something to do. The food is pretty good at least my mom is happy with it. The reason I could not give a 5 is the moving day was rocky. They were disorganized and we didn't receive the welcome packet until 2 weeks later. Found out later that a long time resident had died that morning so they were a bit frazzled. The place is extremely clean with cleaning lady comes once a week and she changes bedding and washes sheets and towels ( nice touch). Mom is extremely comfortable there and the residents are friendly and welcoming too. I have heard they are a little spendy but we have the biggest one bedroom and it's been perfect for her. She's is happy and more active than I have seen her since the pandemic.

My mom was there for three weeks as she tried it and really wanted to be home. The staff were very friendly and worked close with me. There was a bit of changes in staffing while I was there. The facility I am sure works great for most needs but my mom's medical needs and her own demands needed something different. Often she would pull the cord and ask for a med tech so the caregiver said they would pass on the message but it would be over an hour before my mom saw one. They were in the presence of finding an in house nurse so the med techs seemed a bit n their own. They were so patient and kind with my mom but so often I had to work with them to support my mom. Her diabetes sliding scale made it difficult for them as they have to follow certain charges. The front desk manager [name removed] was fabulous as well as [name removed] and [name removed] . They were however difficult to get a hold of with their busy schedules. I adored all the med techs and caregivers. [name removed] is one that stood out. They tailored to my mom in ways I am sure they don't do for everyone and I appreciated that. My mom has since passed away and I am so grateful for them in the short time we were there. The others looked so happy and it is so inviting. I do feel better supervision and training for med techs could be better and maybe better staff retainment and consistency and better communication from admin.

I'd rate them at a 4 only because they don't provide toilet paper for the residents and they don't do laundry, at least not their personal laundry, they'll do towels , but that's it other than that, they've been relatively good. Very expensive there. The bill is running around 8 grand a month. Which to me is a lot. Evidently the food is decent as well. I guess I expect a lot more for that amount of money.

Overall, I would rate my experience as a 4. The facility has a good feel and is fairly spacious. Good restaurant facilities. Lots of activities for the residents. They have had some maintenance and housekeeping staffing issues which is reflected in inconsistent service at times.

What they could improve on would be possibly on cleaning the apartment, a little more in depth, checking under beds chairs etc. Then to vacuum if possible. I am sure every assistant living has room for improvement. In Bonaventure's case, it would be a little deeper cleaning in the apartment and also be sure to call back if messages are left with management, by a resident or family member. We have been very satisfied with everything else.

My husband is in memory care so my comments are in that context. He likes the food. The staff is attentive and friendly and responsive to any concerns or comments. Rooms are not huge but space is adequate. They have activities for the residents. I only go to the memory care so have no observations on the rest of the community.

The staff seems great and my mom seems to like them. There are a ton of activities for her. Food is ok, she has to eat gluten free so that can be a challenge some days. She has a studio which good sized. I don't think she has been happier. She's made friends and participates in activities which she never did living with us.

So far so good. A good facility with good people
