Bickford Senior Living

The Bickford facility is attractive and does not look institutional. The staffing has been a challenge over the last year my mother has lived there. Communication needs to be improved. Beware of the Value Med pharmacy it is very expensive and the cost is over and above the rent. Cable television is also not included. This could be better for the cost.

Unimpressed with almost everything. There is exactly one nurse that works here that seems to know what they're doing. Everyone else is either resistant to new things, doesn't know how to communicate regularly with a family about the resident, talks a good game but when it comes to action doesn't seem to really care. If my dad didn't have a girlfriend here that made him very happy I would have already looked for another facility. I understand that they are short-handed but if one person can make the effort and go above and beyond more people should be able to do that.

My number one concern is I have asked for seven months to be given the scale/criteria that moves someone from level of care to level of care, and I have gotten nothing. To me, the criteria seems hit and miss each day. They do give meds on time and assist with my loved one's bath. The main entrance, main living areas, and dining areas are always clean and tidy. But my loved one's room is not very clean, and he is physically unable to clean for himself. Most of the time the food is good. And they do have a lot of activities.

This community theoretically is pet friendly. It is on the expensive side. There seems to be a large turnover in staff. The communication with the staff is good, however. The number of staff has dwindled over the last year.

I would tell others that this community is a nice place to live if your loved one that doesn't need a lot of assistance. There are only 2 CNAs for 55 assisted living residents. There were hardly any activities available during my loved one's stay at the community.

They seem to be understaffed which is causing some issues. We are having some problems with the billing, they are overarching us and that is causing some frustration because now I am having to keep a really close eye on things and track it. I am not happy with the food situation either, the meals are not nutritious. I am really impressed with the physical therapy through fox, they have done a lot to help my mom out. Also the staff are great and very helpful.

Everybody there has been really nice, there are some parts of the community that is very clean and other parts not as clean. Sometimes when we visit our loved ones they have cob webs in the corner of their room, and the toilet isn't always clean. Both our loved one really enjoy the meals and dining service, and when we do stop by there is always something going on for the residents. Overall we have been very happy but there could be room for improvement with the communication, sometimes it is a hit or miss with the head nurse.

Older facility but had a very warm and homey feeling. There were a lot of residents out and about. Common areas were inviting. We really wanted a king size bed and the rooms would not support that.

The meals there are very good, however the communication is horrible that needs to be improved. Our loved one has been there for a couple of months and it seems like we are constantly having to reach out for updated. It usually takes multiple phone calls before we get a hold of someone or get a call back. It seems like the people who are in charge are always unavailable

There is nothing horribly wrong, but I would look elsewhere. It is not set up for handicap people, especially someone in a wheelchair or powerchair it isn't accessible for them. If you don't need to work with the nurse, the staff is pretty good to work with. Sometimes the nurse is good to work with and other times she is not. The memory care seems to be in with the general population and they are not in their own unit.

[name removed] was very nice. Certainly made me feel heard and understood. I loved the personal video chat + the prompt email follow-ups. However I think the facility has a lot of amenities that [name removed] just won't utilize.

The community made some promises that they were not able to keep due to staffing issues. The staff worked hard as they could but it was hard for them to have time to do everything.

I think they are going through a transition. The Director was changed, then COVID, and staff was a problem for them. I'm not sure if every community had staffing issues during this time. I'm rating them, but I don't have anything to rate them against. They are really an assisted living community, and my loved one needed full care. There were some staff that were really good, and some that were there that weren't as good as others. The new Director has been there for three weeks. It was a clean place. They allowed two people to go in for hospice residents. I don't think it meet the care, I was expecting for my loved one.

My husband entered the community's memory section, when it was just opened. In the next couple of months, the memory care section filled. They may have had a waiting list, my husband was asked to leave after only 10 weeks. The community stated they couldn't accommodate his level of need. There was no change in the ten weeks, accept the floor was full. It was hard to move to a different place after ten weeks, and get used to the new environment all over again. The activities on the assisted living side were good, and the activities on the memory side needed a person who better understood the level of resident's level of ability to participate.

Nice facility, informative staff, very flexible, but expensive.

I think they are friendly and competitive in their pricing. They are trying to improve. Overall I would recommend them to a friend. The food is okay. The room sizes and layout of the community are good. They have outdoor space for the residents to use.

They were not expecting me and [name removed] never arrived. I was told he is at the west facility. I was given a tour by the director. Too far from our home. Memory care is only for severe dementia.

Seem very caring. Lacks natural light and decor is a bit dark and tired . Feels depressing
