Benchmark Senior Living

We chose The Atrium at Veronica Drive because it was recommend to us by someone in our Alzheimer's support group. The room sizes at the facility are excellent, she is in a private room. I do think they could offer some more activities. but they may just not have enough staff. I would recommend them to others looking.

Its not like living at home.

Our family was able to do a virtual tour and they did a good job taking us around the community. We were looking into another community at the time, and the reason we did not choose Benchmark was because they did not really have a backyard outside area where our loved one could walk around freely without having an escort be with her the entire time.

I like the staff very much. They are very supportive. The director is extremely approachable. They all seem to care very much about the residents, which is lovely. We haven't really had many issues. We had some challenges at first with his medications, but that has all been ironed out. The food is okay, but sometimes he's not happy with the way things are cooked. They tend to be dry and overcooked. But everybody is very attentive, and they genuinely seem to care about the people who live there. I think every assisted living facility is grossly overpriced, but they do a good job here.

My loved one is in the memory care unit, and there are such extremes there, from people who are very far progressed in their dementia, to others like my loved one who are not. So that can be hard for her. I don't know that there's a solution for that, but it's challenging on many levels, including activities. I feel like the higher functioning residents could be engaged in a different manner. But the staff have been remarkable, both with my loved one, and with their communications with me. It's a journey, and it's really nice to have people who can walk with you through it. They've been so communicative and wonderful.

We toured Greenwich Farms and it was a nice facility, very comfortable and clean.

Our virtual tour was good. Their building was clean. But it seemed like most of the Alzheimer’s patients were very far gone. So my higher functioning loved one wouldn’t have had enough interaction with people like herself.

I went on several virtual tours, and at this one the building didn't seem as nice as others I had seen. Mostly the residents in the memory care unit seemed to be pretty far gone, and my loved one who is higher functioning wouldn't have had enough interaction with people like herself.

Our family was able to do an in person tour and we have a great experience. The community was beautiful and the gentlemen who showed us around was very nice, we really did have a good feeling about the place. However, the other community we were looking at just had a huge advantage because of the location, it was close to a shopping area and this community is not.

While our loved one was there, they did a good job. The care our loved one needed they were able to handle, she needed a assisted living with a medical room and they were able to accommodate that. We were happy with then, and given the circumstances they did their best with communicating to our family. The meals and dining service we think was good, our loved one seemed to like the food. The staff was fairly attentive, and everything worked out it was a good experience.

We moved my loved one here form another community, and the care is a hundred times better. The staff is wonderful. They seem to have more staff, happier staff, and their communication is better. We've been very happy with The Village.

The person who took me on the tour seemed knowledgeable and understanding. She took the time to introduce me to each of the support staff we ran across in the course of the tour. The rooms had more of a "hospital" or "nursing home" vibe but were bigger than the previous facility. Perhaps it was just an older building than the other. still, the support staff seemed caring and efficient. I have to remember that a memory care unit is necessarily different from an assisted living facility.

This past year has been difficult with the pandemic and now always getting to see our loved one on our own time, but all in all our loved one is well fed, well taken care of and always kept clean. She has never once complained to us regarding any red flags, everyone is nice to our loved one which was the most important thing to us. We wanted to find a place where she is safe.

My loved one needed the highest level of care, and it was still not enough. It is a great place if skilled nursing isn't needed. The care that we utilized was in the memory care area specifically. The care staff seems to be more task and not the overall care. The task comes first, and that is what they think about first. The task of whatever and the individualized care isn't thought of. I have seen this within other communities and home care. The schedule is important, but sometimes it is at the expense of the individual. The community itself and the office staff seems lovely.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. I would make sure that the community is clear on all the costs. I felt there were a few surprises along the way. There is a community fee, and I don't remember the community talking about that. The staff are good to work with.

The staff is very friendly and they have done a great job taking care of our loved ones. The community has plenty of activities for the residence to participate in also. I would recommend this community to others based on my experience

Communication between shifts can sometimes get missed but the communication between the staff and our family is very good. They keep us well informed. The community is neat and clean and the staff is very friendly. I would recommend this community to others
