Belmont Village

They are understaffed. The food is very poor and the service of food is very poor. It all depend on the kind of service that you need. If you have a normal intellect, I would not chose this place because most everyone has some form of dementia, so it makes for poor conversation and company.

To be a beautiful facility in March. Looking for a memory skilled program and they. will have it. Tiered. levels in this area whicn we liked. Affordable and would have a great access to trained nurses.

My mother lived here for over 3 years before she died. We chose this place because of what previous reviewers have praised above--mostly superficial information. They have a terrible theft problem. We thought having a lock on the door and a separate locked drawer in the room would protect her valuables. We were so stupid. EVERYONE who works there has a master key. My mother lost thousands of dollars she thought was safe in the locked drawer. Her engagement ring was stolen, also lots of other jewelry disappeared. Her pain pills (hydrocodone) were stolen many times. Often the nurse would bring her pills to her room in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT and just lay them on a table. The staff, including the director, was pretty indifferent to this problem. They gave her a small safe, which for a 90 year old with arthritis is not helpful. The nursing staff tried, the PALS (most of them) tried, but the administrative staff kept to their ivory tower with their noses in the air. They should have given us some kind of warning, and I still resent that they did not. SO--WARNING! THEFT PROBLEM!

We really liked [name removed]. The place seemed fine. Nothing particularly memorable, though. It was the first place we saw, and we just wanted to see others.

Very good for memory care/Alzheimer’s. Small rooms. Broad range of memory care and physical care options. No stove seems like a dealbreaker for mom. Seems like mom is not ready for something like this.

Potential

The senior advisor helped us find bellmont I like the idea of in between care for assisted living and a dementia unit. The place is clean and pretty the apartments are very nice and they have a pool (although its use ended up not being quite what was described) getting a hold of people by phone is very difficult but when you do they do try to help and are nice I think email in person and appointments are better .I'm not sure if the front desk are volunteers but it would be nice to have them trained and given information I think they are working on it . They do answer the phone right away during day hours. (Evening hours and night time I heard they are working on a new phone system that the nursing department can answer easier and convienent for them )

Great rooms. Expensive. Was very quiet.

Pricy, undergoing a big remodel. Many amenities a memory care paient would not have access to.Two floors of memory care. Third floor does not have access to outdoor space. Allows pets. Provides free transportation. Onsite 24/7 nurses. Visitor parking a challenge. One way exit.

Met with [name removed] for a tour and got financials. It is a lovely place, but [name removed] is checking with her head nurse to see if [name removed] would be considered with his extensive care needs. Not sure [name removed] would be comfortable there. We will see him on Monday and talk to him about it in case they would accept him.

Heavy emphasis on memory care, which is not a priority for us right now.

Tour was informative. Not sure that it will provide the appropriate level of care that I want at the price point that I can afford for my Mom. The community does seem to stress social programs that encourage and stimulate cognitive support for aging residents- which is very important.

The community was very beautiful extremely clean well maintained we were very impressed. The staff was really kind and you could tell they cared about the residents in talking with the staff. However, as you walked around we didn't see any residents out and about doing any sort of activities or visiting with any family or friends. Being so quiet almost reminds me of being in a hospital ward during quite a time.

We have been dealing with several issues here for my mom like seeing that she has stayed in her pajamas all day and because we do pay extra for the use of Circle of Friends we thought that they would be more attentive to our mother's needs. I have gone to management about all our concerns such as her empty oxgyen tank, not taking her to the dining room, monitoring her meds and hopefully these will all be addressed, but in the meantime, we make sure that we check on our mom daily because she can not remember things. I will say the staff is responsive and they have started taking mom to the activities and they bring her back to her room when she asks them to. This community is very nice and we are hoping to keep our mom in the assisted living are for as long as possible that is why we are pay extra for that extra care for her.

Belmont Village Geneva Road was a clean community that we toured. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. I saw that they were doing activities in the hallways and it seemed that the rooms were too small. We chose another community for our current needs.

Belmont was a nice small community neat and clean and the staff did a great job with the tour answered our questions but it just was not the right fit for my mother as the rooms were too small. And she did not feel like she would fit in here.

We toured this community for my father, and his needs. The tour went pretty well, everyone was kind. The staff we met was polite, and informative. They answered all our questions. It was a good experience, but we did not feel this was the right fit for my father, and his needs.

I toured a very nice community but I didn't like their a/c unit in the room. They built a wooden box that took too much space and it had sharp edges. For a fall risk that concerned me. It was located in an area that can get congested with traffic. For us to visit, there would be a traffic issue.

We were not crazy about this place for US. Whereas it might have been fine for others, and I could see some advantages, especially with the ability to rehab there, and the ability to make the transition from independent living to assisted living without having to move. The pool was great! The rooms were not appealing to my mother in law. In a hig-rise, you have a different set up, but we found the rooms dark and a bit cold. The dark flooring did not add to the lack of ambience. Also didn't get the sense that there was a big emphasis on full time activity direction. Since this was very important to us, we kind of wrote this place off.

Decided that Oak Park was just a little too far from family & friends...never toured Belmont Village. Have heard many wonderful things though.
