Friendly staff and inviting atmosphere

The overall care is very good. They have good activites. They do outings and crafts, exercise classes and things like that. My parents say the food is good too.

Overall I like the location, the staff I think is wonderful, they're very helpful. The administrator is amazing, Donna, she's very proactive and I just can't say enough good things about her. I think it's the memory care program and the cost of that that could improve. It's an additional 2000 per month and even though it goes on day after day and for hours, personally, I think they need to factor in the people who can't afford it but need it, or at least offer a substitute program that would allow more people to come into it. Belmont was a little more expensive than some of the other places we were looking at but they have a nice sized room and they like it there.

My mother moved in here a few weeks ago. Sadly, it wasn't a good fit for her. It is a lovely facility with very friendly staff. The rooms are bright and airy. The staff is helpful and go out of their way to help. The food is delicious. Unfortunately, we couldn't make this work. My mother has dementia and is very active. She was on their memory care floor which was nice, but is not a locked community. A large part of the day is spent sitting in classes or sitting while doing activities which most residents enjoy. My mother is VERY active and hated all the sitting. She didn't like them telling her she couldn't do what she wanted, so she kept trying to leave. Belmont Village isn't really equiped to handle that, so we had to pay for a one-on-one assistant. That got to be very expensive, and the constant supervision made my mom even more upset. By the time we moved her out, we had spent thousands of dollars to try to make this work. This is a great dementia care community if your loved one is not going to try to leave, and they are pretty calm. It is expensive, so be sure you really think about how they will act once they cannot come and go as they please (if they are on the dementia care floor.) Will they stay with the group? Do they like to sit or are they constantly active? Do you have money to pay for extra care if needed? Consider these things before you move here.

On the surface it looked alright, I don't think you can really judge a place until you've had someone live there, but this looked pretty good. Everything seemed clean. The menus looked good and they showed you the dining rooms and all that business.

The care is where I get into a little bit of a problem; I guess our expectations are higher than what they should be for an assisted living place. For example, my mother in law scalded herself opening up something from the microwave so they called my wife to pick up something from the drug store; do they not have first aid there? There are a couple of different acitivites, I think my mother in law is having difficulties because she has to worry about her husband who has dementia and what he might do or say. I don't think they have any control over this, but they used to have exits other than the front door where they could go out and sit on the patio. I guess Georgia came in and did an inspection and told them they needed to lock those doors so now the only exit is the front door and they're in the very back; so now they feel like they're in a prison.

This place was awesome too. But just not as organized as The Solana Germantown. The people were very nice here also.

This was the only other one that I really felt okay about I liked that one although it seemed big. They did have things available like in staff nurses available and visiting medical staff but I felt that they rigidness of the activities was something that my mom would not respond to. She requires a lot of flexibility.

I liked this facility but still pursuing skilled nursing care as an option.

It was okay. I wish they had a little more communication but it was nice place. We didn't have a lot of information. As soon as we gave her the check she disappeared. We just found out things by talking to other people.

Really liked - a litte far, outdoor pool small and probably hard to use in winter, great dementia care, very clean and nice, residents seem content and well cared for, can possibly get room with a view

Nice facility. Residents seemed engaged with one another. Staff was friendly and attentive. Nice apartments. Price is high.

It was nice. The cost was high but it was comparable to the other places. It was a little far from us but it was nice. They were among the three finalists of places we were looking at.

We placed my mother in Belmont Village of San Jose and we have been very happy with them. There have been a few glitches, I mean, people are people and its not like she's the only person they have to take care of but overall they're doing an excellent job and mom is well cared for.

Nice environment with a majority of genuinely caring employees; only a few that treat it as a “job” and don’t seem to have that desire to truly work with seniors. The billing methods are a bit questionable and families should scrutinize each monthly invoice.

My mom was still alive when they were there and she sort of ran into the end of life part where she needed more care and they weren't able to do that so they asked them to leave. I really liked it there, I think my dad, he's pretty easy going, he kind of just accepted things and he liked where he was. I always thought their food was really good there, they had BBQs and those were always really good. As far as activities because he was legally blind he couldn't really do much but they had some card games, poker and things like that, that he did until he couldn't see well enough anymore.

We toured it. Someone told me that I have to think about whether my father-in-law would be more comfortable being a small fish in a big pond or a big fish in a small pond and that really helped me make my decision because my in-laws are very private people. The Belmont was a bit too uppity and too stuffy. Their brain training to try and stop the progression of the disease (dementia) is incredible and maybe it would help with someone younger but it was not going to work for my father-in-law's situation.

Things are going really good there, were really comfortable having them there

Liked the grand piano at the entrance. Mom may do ok with Circle of Friends, but language barrier will be a problem. I like the hourly wellness check. One of the 'pals' speaks Italian. The Secured Neighborhood was depressing. Odor in room we visited.

One of the reasons why my sister and I chose Belmont was the fact that the memory care was in levels, one being high functioning, 2, 3, and four being in the "neighborhood". When we were doign our tours they were telling us that there was always going to be a nurse on the floor and that was enticing, but we've had episodes of mom wandering and my question to them is why don't you have more personnel to catch them? We were under the impression that there were more people around that would prevent the wandering but we were told me may need to get another person in to care for her on top of it. It is a wonderful facility, they have wonderful programs I've been pleased with that, they keep them stimulated but they do chose to medicate a little bit more. I think it has a great concept but if I were in charge I would like to see more pals especially if they're going to promote the circle of friends.
