Avamere

The reason we gave the overall experience a 4 is mostly due to the food is not always too good. My sister does like some of the staff members quite a bit, she doesn't like to socialize a lot, she likes her privacy. She really complains about the food mostly.

He doesn't like the food. They have lots of on site activities just not very many he likes. Also they have not had a bus to take residents on trips for close to a year. They advertise such but do not have. Their bus broke down and never got fixed. The facility is always clean. Never smells like an assisted living community. Short handed most of the time.

Always room for improvement. I am very pleased with the care my Mom is receiving and all the staff is extremely friendly and kind. She enjoys the food and the servers, they always call her by her name and remember she loves ice cream. My brother from Indiana was very impressed with the facility and better than what he has seen in the past. My Mom fell in her room [date removed] and fractured her pelvis, she was in the hospital and rehab for a month and also recovered from pneumonia, she has returned to Avamere and is under hospice care now and the staff is very good to her.

Mom died on [date removed] so I I haven't been part it the Ovation Sienna Hills community since then but here are my thoughts: They got new management personnel recently so I don't know how much my experience is relevant. But it was very friendly and clean when Mom was there. I would recommend them!

Overall experience is/was a great experience. They took time, answered my questions and seemed genuinely wanting to help. Cleanliness is excellent. From, front door, offices, dining and other rooms. And apartment in great shape and very very clean. We could move our stuff in right away and not have clean things first Everyone from receptionist to cleaning staff to waiters (and all residents) are extremely helpful, cooperative and very friendly. The quality of care seems to be above satisfaction. Two concerns. (1). No one ever checks/inquires about cares that we're to be done. Has your cleaning people been taking care on the day assigned? (2). I was told they would do linens but not towels or personal items. That's fine . Then someone told resident we can only do towels if they do your personal stuff too. Residents should be contacted at least once a month to make sure things are going ok or if they have any questions, concerns etc. Also we were asked when someone should check on them. But I really don't think anyone has checked on them , asked how they are etc. since they moved in. Dining room very cheerful, staff very helpful, friendly and meals are very good and prepared well. Menu is good and specials are well chosen I think and also tasty. Hours dining room is open I feel are great. Accommodates all ideal times for anyone. Waitors/waitresses are very pleasant and helpful. I feel really good about most of their activities. Seems something there for most everyone. I know they give a schedule for every week, days and times, but I also feel that the family and residents should discuss what may- be they want to get involved with to the staff and maybe give that resident a reminder that that certain activity is coming up. I know that's probably a lot to ask of so many residents but wish something could be implemented. I also know families of residents could help out in that area also. Of course I feel these prices are high but comparable to other facilities. But, too, I think things that were said would be done have not been completely fulfilled. Especially, the add on of certain fees for minor duties. Such as meds being given out and helping with bathing. This is supposed to be "assisted living" in the first place. (My average rating is #5. It's an excellent facility and am happy we chose Ovations for our parents. Would recommend it to anyone who would need such a facility.

The staff is incredibly friendly. But I don't appreciate the lack of info provided to new residents such as procedures. They were the only facility that had availability at the time based on our budget. Our biggest concern now is turnover of employees in only the 2 months she has been there.

I have lived in the town for 50 years. I like it here except I have no family here anymore. If a friend asked about this community of tpeople and the building I would say, its nice and the people are good. I have made some new friends.

Need to be persistent with management staff about move in transition information and medication and physician transitions

My dad was previously a resident at Avamere at Cheyenne. I will say, Avamere would be a great place for someone that has full mobility. We were assured before placing him there that they would be able to handle full care (which we paid for). The care was not provided. He was on hospice and my sister and I oversaw his care. They have had a lot of turnover with staff and that can be a problem. For the most part, the caregivers were all very kind and treated my dad good. The residents seem to like it there. I think, with our situation, I should have researched group homes for him.

Good caregivers, especially [name removed]. [name removed] in front office was very helpful as well. Unless one is going to have lunch with a loved one don' t visit during mealtime. The caregivers are very busy then. When my time comes, this will be a good place.

My mother went into Avamere with the ability to walk and take care of her toilet needs on her own. She contracted Covid and she was isolated in her room. Although meals were delivered to her room, she has severe dementia and did not know that she should be eating or drinking. She was essentially unsupervised in her dining, which her doctors have indicated may have caused dehydration, a-fib and rapid heart rate leading to hospitalization.. Eventually during her isolation, she became dehydrated and developed enough problems tshe was hospitalized for 13 days. Upon her discharge, she was unable to walk, was confined to a wheelchair, and she was essentially incontinent. The staff has been very good trying to work with her to get her back to walking and doing things on her own, but she is a much different patient now than she was before she was hospitalized. I think the staff has had a few challenges in changing their schedule to accommodate her increasing needs. But I must say, they have done an exceptional job in trying to accommodate her. The process continues and we're hoping for good things. Activities - No opinion since my mother doesn't usually participate. The basic room and board is fine. However, with my mother's increased needs after being hospitalized (see above), the added costs mount up very quickly and make it nearly cost prohibitive to stay at Avamere. I am paying much of her monthly cost out of my pocket, and I would like her to stay because of all the good features of Avamere. However, I have my mother's health care professionals telling me to consider moving her to skilled nursing or memory care, since they do not believe Avamere is equipped to handle it. I am trying to keep her at Avamere as long as I can because I have developed trust in Avamere so far.

I've had a difficult time getting information on her care points. However, based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend Ovation Heartwood Preserve to other families who are looking for a place for their loved ones

Ovation Sienna Hills is a very friendly , beautiful modern facility, very clean and well maintained, they are short staffed so the every 4 hour safety check of each resident was not happening consistently , management is aware of this and are taking steps to improve. Most residents are happy with all the variety of activities. Unfortunately my mother does not take advantage of all those activity opportunities. I would recommend this community to others.

The facility is clean and has a pleasant atmosphere with beautiful decor and great color scheme.

The community was newer and staff was eager to help. We did virtual tours and [name removed] liked the layout of [removed] apartment better. It was more convenient to where both my daughter in law and I live. Kind of in the middle. After we made the decision, an acquaintance of mine told me his mother was in Avemere, and since Covid things really changed there and he wasn't very happy.

Go in with realistic expectations. The staff is caring and patient, far more than others in Bend. The facility may be older but it's nice, clean, and the support and compassion of the staff (from the very to on down) make this an exceptional experience in such a stressful phase of life.

My loved one was a resident at this facility for about 6 weeks. The staff was very helpful. My loved one liked the food. The cleanliness and friendliness were good. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

Our family had an in person tour with Aspen Ridge Memory Care and overall we did think based on what we saw - it was a very nice tour experience but it was just not going to fit all of our loved ones needs.

My loved one is a resident here and things have gone well so far. I really like the facility. The staff takes great care of the residents and are very much on top of things. They're constantly on the go and are really attentive to the residents. They read to my loved one every evening and have a good variety of activities. Administration is very on top of things here, as well. It's a good atmosphere here and the food is good!

Avamere at Cheyenne is better than most places I've visited in the last two years. They are building a new wing that should be opening soon. The only problems we've had are the debit mix-ups that we have finally solved. Just keep an eye on the billing.
