Avalon Memory Care

My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's and later developed dementia related to the Parkinson's. Mother had been taking care of him at home but then she stared to have memory issues of her own. The thing that impressed me the most, right of the bat, was that the staff really understood his disease and the differences and needs he had. It was hard to make the move from home, but Michelle and the staff made this so easy for us. We were amazed and so happy to find that he was treated as an individual. What he wanted and liked, mattered to the staff. My daddy always loved buttermilk and Lou Ann who cooks, always made sure daddy had this. It was just all the little things that brightened his day. He was there 3 1/2 years until he passed away. He was surrounded by people who loved him and the familiar faces he came know, love and trust. My mom is now currently a resident. I would highly recommend Avalon for the care of your loved one. They were such a blessing!

We moved our mother from another memory care facility where the care was not good, Avalon was in the process of building a new home next door and was not going to be ready for a few months. We wanted a room for mother in the new home but couldn't wait so we decided to go ahead and move mom in to this home next door while waiting for completion. I was initially worried about how mom would make the transition but the staff made it so smooth and easy for her and for us. It gave us a great deal of peace of mind. I can't say enough about the staff. Many of their staff have been with Avalon many years. You don't see that often. We know our mother is being cared for by people who really love and adore my mom.

I moved my mom from another "upscale" memory care right down the road. Where mother was at before, the staff seemed indifferent and just there to do the bare minimum. When we moved mom to Avalon, the staff took an interest in who mom really is. They know all of the important details that make her day special...from how she likes her coffee to what time of day she would rather bath. When you walk through the door, you really feel the love. Before moving, mom was spending her day in her room and sleeping a great deal. Now she is up and spending her day engaged with the staff and other residents. I feel peace of mind knowing that when I leave, she is in the hands of people who truly love my mom.

My loved one was only here a short time for hospice care, but what they were able to provide for us was wonderful. The staff were friendly and caring, and the facility itself was well kept and clean.

I am so impressed so far with this facility. The living center itself is very nice and the care providers in his house have been very helpful and kind. Most importantly, our Early Onset Alzheimers loved-one has adjusted far better than we expected and is happy is his new surroundings.

We really like Avalon. They are super friendly and they take great care of the residents. They have a code to get in and out and it is secure. Everybody is always eating, so the food is ok. They are very accommodating, and we even had a birthday party with cake and ice cream.

Avalon is amazing. Communicative, caring, sincere and smart. So far so good. My mother seems at peace for the first time in months. My Place for Mom advisor is also the best - she was a true blessing.

This is a very nice community! The staff are incredibly friendly, I'd give them 10 out of 5 if I could! They've been very accommodating, and are happy to work with you to figure out how best to care for your loved one. The people here really are exceptional, the residents and the staff, and we feel like it is a great environment for our loved one. I'd highly recommend it.

This is a really great place, I'd rate them higher than 5 if I could! The only area where I feel like they need improvement is with the activities, and I've been talking to them about this and I've seen improvement already. We came to them in a bit of a crisis and they were able to help us quickly, and since then have been very accommodating with any adjustments we've needed to make.

I'm glad we found this place, it ended up being a great decision for us. The staff here really go above and beyond when it comes to care. We felt like they were helping our family as much as our loved one who needed care. I liked how I was treated even from the first time I contacted them, the first person who answered the phone spoke with me and answered everything that they could, and transferred me to the appropriate person when they couldn't.

They provide great care here. It's very clean, and nice looking, and the staff are very friendly. Any time anything happens with Dad they always give us a call with an update to keep us informed, which is great. We really appreciate all the individual attention and care he gets. He's always been looked after and clean when we visit, even if he needs to be cleaned up a few times a day.

It's very clean, they're very friendly, I can't speak specifically to all the activities but I know they've got her exercising, they've got crafts, they have lots of things and she actually likes being out of her room more than it is which was not the case at the place she was before. One of the cutest things about it is she's always got one of her best friends with her whenever we come to visit. As far as something I like, they're giving her a lot of attention which, of course, is what I appreaciate a lot, I want someone keeping an eye on her. Her room is smaller but Avalon is much more condusive to being out with the group, I like the face that she's not just in her room. I would definitely recommend it, you don't need to worry if you come here

We chose avalon mostly because of the administrator, Sue, we just hit it right off the bat. She's excellent, she acts like she owns the place herself. Shes there, she takes care of all the residents, she keeps one on one relationships with all of the residents and i really think the world of her. My mom has good days and bad days, but that's apart of the disease. There's a helper, shes kind of Sue's right hand girl there, her names Debbie and she has alot to do with my mom. Shes great. It was the first place we checked and sometimes you're led to where youre supposed to be.

The staff is extremely friendly. We are very happy with them and could not have found a better place. The staff is caring and they go out of their way to make things happen. They are very accommodating. When I leave I do not worry about my loved one. We are very pleased with them.

We chose Avalon because of its location; it made it very convenient for our family. It provides a much more open feel to it and was just the best fit for our situation. We are very pleased with our choice and would recommend it to anyone.

My siblings and I moved Dad into the Avalon Alzheimer's Care facility in Irving, Tx. Michelle at the Arlington facility was my first contact with this community. She moved heaven and earth to make this possible for us. Dad has only been a resident in Irving for 14 days. In that short time, we have seen a remarkable improvement in his health and overall demeanor. Sue Boyd, the director in Irving, is absolutely wonderful. The staff is so attentive and personally committed to their tasks. The home cooked food is so appetizing and Dad's appitite has just amazed us all. Overall, it comes down to caring. Not only is the home beautiful, but perfectly suited to Alzheimer's patients as is everything they do for the residents. I cannot say enough good things about Avalon. The peace of mind knowing how well Dad is cared for is priceless.

Very impressed with everything I saw and heard. Staff ratio;nice rooms. Alz specific care. Would not move Dad. Room is close to common area. $300/month for incontenence care-covers everything needed. Willing to work with us on $ issues. $500 dep-refundable if not moved in. Only problem is shower would not accomidate wheelchair, but they would take him to another shower.
