Avalon Memory Care

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful but I did notice that when we first moved in many could not speak English I know my dad is a little introverted and possibly no matter what is offered He may not accept but I am not sure about the activities, but they seem to be geared towards those that enjoy coloring and my dad does not enjoy coloring, and possibly playing games and not being able to see well or hear is difficult to join in but I have not got a list of the activities I was told at the beginning that there was a form of pet therapy and that does not seem to be happening at all, which is disappointing The size of his room is a little small, but appropriate I have had to inform the staff several times that his toilet and sink are not being cleaned- and they seem to get the toilet clean, but not his sink- I do know that they have washed my dad's windows several times and I'm very grateful for that, but I do feel that the window facing the field needs to be replaced because the problem seems to be inside of the double pain and is extremely distorted and if someone is going to live there and knowing they spend so much time in their room, they shouldn't have to look out of such distorted windows but be able to enjoy the few things they have, which is looking out into a peaceful field I cannot even imagine trying to keep a memory care facility clean, but I do know that often when I walk the hallways, it does smell of urine I do know that at Brookdale they did use air purifiers Which did seem to help I have had to ask several times about my dad's sheets getting washed - I do think it is getting done now When I have alerted staff to the situations, it seems like they intend to take care of the need Many times it seems like the breaker pops and my dad's lights do not come on in his bathroom- that has happened four or five times since he has moved in -the good thing is he does have a light right outside the bathroom that seems to work, but that should be taken care of They are very attentive when you are needing to enter and exit which I appreciate and they greet myself and my father almost every time ??

I liked it was a family owned facility that was smaller sized. They seemed committed to getting the residents up for the day and meals and back to bed in the evening. Liked that they focused on behavior modification to correct undesired behavior. We were concerned that they seemed short of staff

The staff is genuinely interested in the wellbeing of the whole person of their residents. They are helpful, kind and attentive. There are a few people on the care team that have trouble understanding English without some form of special attention. That is concerning.

I think I would like for people to know how caring the caretakers were. They were very friendly and very attentive to the residents. We were very pleased with my brother's care. Hospice came in and took care of his medical issues.

The reason we choose Avalon was the low staff turn over then about 6 months in they started having a hug turnover Loosing your memory makes it really hard for the residents to adjust I hope they have fixed this. I would recommend them if they were able to correct the overturning staff.

Avalon has a very caring staff and is a great community for those needing memory care, but not as well suited for those with low mobility but normal memory.

Overall, we were happy with Avalon's care and would recommend it to others.

I was pleased with the facility/ staff at Avalon. The staff are very caring and try their best to accommodate the patients and family members. The only draw back is the food. Food seems to be made for teenagers and it is not diverse enough or appropriate for the elderly.

A father has been a resident for over a year now. He is very well taken care of by the staff. Our family feels the staff is loving and kind. We wish the facility could have an on site chat for meals so the care takers can focus on care on care only. The meadow Ranch site is on a beautiful serche setting with a tree line view. Feels like home.

The facility is a converted older, one level home on 3 acres so very nice setting. The 2 caregivers per shift work hard to keep residents clean and fed and individualize the care as much as possible. They (the 2 caregivers) are also responsible for all of laundry, cooking all meals, showers for residents, cleaning their rooms as well as rest of house giving and tracking medications. It's too much for 2 people to do.

I chose them because it wasn't too big, my mother could smoke outside. Seemed like a good fit. First time living away from home. I would say the staff is friendly, helps if I need someone to go turn on her TV. I would recommend it. But I don't care for the décor, doesn't give you a homey feeling. Would like to see a table where residents could work on a puzzle or something.

The thing I like most is that the caregivers are all extremely sweet and treat my mom very respectfully. I would like to see better communication between staff, but I will say this has started to improve over the past couple of months.

Staff was friendly and respectful.Shortage of staff and cleanliness could use improvement. Response time to call button was about 30 minutes.

The cleanliness was not necessarily in the bedroom but in the activities rooms. Some of the staff members were really nice. When I went to move him to [community name removed] I could not get anybody to help me do anything .

I like the setup - individual buildings with only 20 patients per bldg. If I have an issue, I can go to the office in mom's bldg to discuss and get it taken care of. I would recommend to a friend but I think it's really important to stay involved and address problems as they come up. Be kind to everyone and let them know you appreciate them and thank them for taking care of your loved one.

The staff were warm and caring. They kept the residents clean, the floors clean and it never had a foul odor. They were very good at communicating. The food was wonderful and the floor plan allowed the residents to see and smell the food cooking. I would highly recommend Avalon. Because of its size, I felt that my father-in-law received exceptional care.

I would recommend. It's been a Good experience with Avalon. We connected well with the staff and like the small size of the facility.

On my visit it was very clean. I didn't see a lot of residents out in the common area. The administrator made me at ease with their plan and she sounded well versed. It was also within my budget.The staff is better qualified and equipped to take care of my loved one than I am, so, I think there is value in that. If housekeeping and maintenance were more attuned, they'd be almost perfect.

My loved one was previously a resident at Avalon Memory Care Tuckerton. Overall, things were good for her while she was at this facility. I would recommend Avalon Memory Care Tuckerton to others.

I picked Avalon because of the cost. I would say Avalon Irving has nice caregivers and take good care of my mom at the stage she is in. They don't have a lot of activities daily, but my mom couldn't participate in those anyway. Residents that still have their mind like the caregivers which makes me feel better.
