Avalon Memory Care

I think they are doing alright. Overall with where we are in life, I think it's okay. There are a few concerns, like the way they transfer, and the we use can be wheelchair can be difficult. I don't think they have anyone that does wound care out there. They have been great with us. The billing department has been great about working with me. They are super, super, sweet, they will even help me get her in and out of the car when I take her for a visit. It's very, very, clean. The food is very simple, but it always tastes good.

Overall I think they have done really well with my mother. She is one that likes to wonder around a lot, and they redirect her as needed, and take really good care of her. She did fall last week, and no one saw it. I do kind of wish they had cameras so we could go back and see what exactly what happened. I feel that it's really been an answered prayer! They are very Godly people and have really been great.

They are doing a good job so far. The staff is really friendly. It's hard to judge the value, I don't have a lot to compare it to. They are pretty good about being attentive and responsive, except that we did have a few things go missing. We haven't really had much experience with the activities to judge them much either. The food is very good though according to my loved one.

The facility is lovely! They have a large quantity of staff, with a ratio of four staff for 11-12 residents. It's kept very clean, and the food is fresh and not frozen. It's way better than where she was before. The activities are the big thing, they have an activities schedule but they don't always happen. Other than that I don't really have any complaints.

My experience with Avalon Memory Care has been good. The staff does a good job, and they keep the place nice and clean. I've had the food only once, but it was pretty good. My son seems to enjoy it for the most part. Overall I'm satisfied with their services.

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. We liked the look of this place very much! The gentleman we worked with seemed very friendly, and the residents here all seemed to be happy and social. It was more expensive than other options we looked at, and we didn't like the individual room quite as well as other locations we had seen.

My husband is in the late stages of Alzheimer's and requires lots of personal care with toileting, eating, and walking. The experienced staff members at Glendora understand his needs and are responsive, patient and attentive. They anticipate special health needs and have been pro-active getting outside help. The facility is always clean and each time I visit my husband is dressed and shaved. The personal care residence is especially suitable for his stage in the disease and for one-on-one care. Activities are limited but the staff is receptive to suggestions if the patient requires the stimulation.

Home-like environment with people who care and try their best to take care of their residents. It takes a special kind of caregiver to work day in and day out with Alzheimer's patients, and Glendora has staff who have been on the job with Avalon for 9-12 years -- they have experience.

I haven’t seen any activities provided to my love one. He is gaining weight, so the food must be okay. I’m still evaluating this community. Memory care should respond to people as if they are individuals. People aren’t made with cookie cutters!

They've done a great job so far, I'd give them high marks on everything! The facility itself is beautiful, and they always keep it very clean. The staff are very friendly and professional, and the care they provide is great.

A place for mom

This was one of the places I toured when I was looking into care options, and it seemed nice. I really liked the staff, everyone was very friendly. I wasn't quite as fond of the facility itself, it wasn't as nice as some others that we saw.

Very helpful. My father has been there for one month and they are doing a wonderful job.

I was impressed with the company's attitude about the business. Also, the longevity of staff is impressive. Both houses I visited - Quarterway and Glendora-- seemed to be a fit for my husband.

Shiloh, Rt onto Raintree. Alzheimer's Care? Full aging place. Could stay there and not move. Highly reputable. Multiple locations. Residential care home. People other than me need appt. High level assisted care.

Small care home (capacity about 11) was try interesting concept. Staff had incredible tenure (mostly 10+ years) and appeared very kind. Lots of individual interaction and the food look fabulous - all home-cooked. There is an outdoor pool that they will individually allow residents to use in summer. Lovely setting - a little far, especially for people from church to visit but doable. Very individualized care and fairly wide needs among those living there. Appeared that activities and support was very individualized. Negative was the house did not appear to be very clean (cobwebs, etc) although the bathrooms seemed clean. Rooms were completely personalized and in general it felt very homey if not our of House Beautiful. The living area was bland and the kitchen seemed to have some maintenance issues. They are willing to keep people there to the end of life as long as round the clock nursing is not required. Would allow additional staff but discourage. They prefer to staff up to meet everyone's needs to keep it in-house rather than have the individual become attached to someone not part of the staff. (Made sense) Video monitors in some rooms. Office was upstairs and looked out into living area but was not obtrusive. Would definitely consider.

This RCH was nice. "Out in the country" feeling. Liked the director a lot; was easy to talk to. His facility was nice but seemed a bit crowded. Lots of patients in the smallish living room; one a hospice patient. Some of the patients were roaming; many were quiet. There were a couple of men there-one a former car salesman. The facility seemed clean. Two African cooks in kitchen-very friendly. Large backyard area.

During our experience here it seemed very dark. Whenever I would go in to visit all of the residents were predominately just sitting in front of the TV - from what I saw there were not many activities or engagement going on at all.

They keep everybody in the common area during the day so it does not take many staff to monitor what is going and it is easier to monitor their needs. We do think that is a great concept. They are understaffed just like many other places but for those staff who are working there, they are trying their best.

They've not been really forthcoming in letting me know when things happen, like bruises or falls. They didn't let me know that my loved one was having issues and not sounding like herself, which was evident when I talked to her directly. I ended up having a call with the nurse practitioner, and we came up with a plan. I requested a lab, and it still hadn't been done nor had the nurse practitioner been by to see my loved one several days later. With the elderly, that type of thing can be deadly. Consistently when I go in, there's no pillow cases or top sheet on the bed. I went to see her before bedtime and they hadn't put her night gown on when they put her to bed. They don't put her shoes on. That's not what I would wish for her. Her shampoo, body wash, hand soap, and toothpaste have all disappeared, and I have no idea what's happened to them. There's never any toilet paper, tissues, towels or washcloths in the room. The staff all seem really nice, it's a clean and beautiful facility, and my loved one seems to like it there. But I'm not real pleased with the care that she's getting.
