Avalon Memory Care

We are very glad we chose Avalon for the care of our parents. We appreciate their family atmosphere and attentiveness to my parents individual needs. Carrollton is a brand new facility and the level of activities available is increasing.

They were the best. Michelle and Sue were awesome! Sue was especially amazing when we first got there. Dr. Rivas was awesome too. We didn't end up being here long, but that wasn't because of them. They were amazing.

This is a great place for senior care. The people treat your loved one just like family. When hospice came in to take care of my mom during her last days the faculty gathered around my moms bed and prayed over her and said their good byes. Every one cares so much for your loved one. This place is top rated in my eyes.

So thankful Place for Mom sent us to Avalon ALZHEIMER'S Care. Our intake coordinator saw that my husband needed extra care, and the service we received was just what he needed. Staff was able to handle him during difficult episodes, and was always polite and helpful.

My brother ,who is in early onset , was involuntarily in a horrible facility ,living in terrible conditions. Our search was for cleanliness, friendliness , and professionalism. It was an answer to prayer to discover Sue Boyd and her excellent staff at Avalon in Irving..My brother is now living in a handsome apartment , with excellent support services for food, recreation ,entertainment and treatment. We recommend Avalon highly.

I was told just to pop up and ask for a tour and I did just that. Kia, the house manager was awesome. The place was clean and everyone were so friendly. I moved my dad in and was absolutely pleased of how caring they were. If I had any concerns, I was able to call Kia personally and she was on top of it. My dad spent his final days in a great facility that seem like home. No regrets.

They were great! We moved him from a different place, that hadn't cared for him as well. They did a really good job caring for him. They were really good about getting him up and out of bed. The last place had a difficult time with that.

I've been real pleased so far. The only thing I've been a little concerned about is that the furniture is a little old and worn. I feel real good about her care. They are all very friendly. The food is pretty good, she is eating pretty well. They are able to continue to care for her even if she runs out of money. There is a gentleman that bathes the residents and I think that can be a little uncomfortable for some of the female residents.

I loved Avalon!! For the first time since mom required care she seemed happy. She loved the guy that came into sing. ... She clapped and sang along. She loved to sit in the garden area. She ate well for the first time in forever. The caregivers really cared, no bad apples in the place as you will find in other places. And Jon Seib, the owner, is the most patient and flexible person to do business with. Thanks to all of you at Avalon!

I toured this home along with 2 other Avalon Homes in the nearby area. My wife and I were referred by a couple in our Sunday School class. Their mother has been at Avalon for over 3 years, and they have not had anything but positive things to say. We knew this day would come that we would need to place my mom. Matt with Avalon spoke with me at length before we actually met to tour. During our conversation, he really honed into where my mom was at in the disease process. He toured us in the 3 residential care homes that he thought would be the best fit for mom. At each home, we were greeted with smiles and it just felt like home. What was most impressive was watching the staff interacting with the folks there. There was no desk for staff to be perched behind. The staff were very tuned into the residents. It was also interesting to learn that much of the staff had been there for a long time. That really spoke to me and my wife. You don't see that often. You could just tell that the staff really loved the residents there. They each had their rooms decorated with their own belongings. At all 3 homes, I had the chance to talk to other family and they all had really kind and helpful things to say. Matt has been very helpful in making this difficult decision a little bit easier.

The last 7 years of my mothers life she resided at the Avalon in Irving. During her time there, she was treated like a mother by all of the employees. Every time I visited she was happy, clean and dressed nicely. The times I visited varied from morning to late night and I was always pleased to know she was safe and with people who cared. For an extended period of time she was not totally aware of her surroundings but was always out of her room . At times I would travel for weeks at a time and never did I worry about her; staff took total responsibility for her care. If I ever need a facility hopefully I can reside at Avalon Irving.

My mom moved into Avalon when she had mid stages of dementia. She was diagnosed in her 60's and this was very devastating to our family. Mom was asked to leave 3 other facilities due to agitation before coming to live at Avalon. Once we moved her, it was like a flip of a switch. The staff knew how to work with her and it made all the difference. Mom lived there 8 1/2 years and they cared for my mom all the way until she passed. Abena, one of the care-givers, took care of my mom all those years. My mom was like family and the staff became like family to us. This is such a horrible disease and it is so hard on the family. I can't imagine my mom having been anywhere else but Avalon

My father-in-law has been a resident in Avalon for over a year now. We were so lost when it came to knowing what to do. Dad was living at home and we knew he was not safe but we were so anxious about moving him. The staff helped us step by step through the process. He has been so content and we know that when we leave that his is in good hands. In fact, when we bring him home for the day or out for lunch, he is always anxious to get back "home". The staff are so caring and love him like family.

My dad was at Avalon until he passed away several months ago. His care was amazing and now my mom is living at Avalon. There was a comment made below by a Tim R. I recognized who that must be immediately. You need only to take his so called "opinions" with a grain of salt. I spent a lot of time in the home and knew this family member. He was so completely ungrateful, unappreciative, rude and degrading to the staff and nothing would make him happy. I felt so bad for the girls when he would come in and treat them so badly. I really had to bite my tongue more than once. It's people like that who are so miserable with their own life that they feel like they have to tear everyone apart. I saw his mom daily and saw firsthand how his mother was cared for. The girls adored his mother and he should have been so grateful but he was just rude, hateful and incredibly unprofessional.

My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's and later developed dementia related to the Parkinson's. Mother had been taking care of him at home but then she stared to have memory issues of her own. The thing that impressed me the most, right of the bat, was that the staff really understood his disease and the differences and needs he had. It was hard to make the move from home, but Michelle and the staff made this so easy for us. We were amazed and so happy to find that he was treated as an individual. What he wanted and liked, mattered to the staff. My daddy always loved buttermilk and Lou Ann who cooks, always made sure daddy had this. It was just all the little things that brightened his day. He was there 3 1/2 years until he passed away. He was surrounded by people who loved him and the familiar faces he came know, love and trust. My mom is now currently a resident. I would highly recommend Avalon for the care of your loved one. They were such a blessing!

We moved our mother from another memory care facility where the care was not good, Avalon was in the process of building a new home next door and was not going to be ready for a few months. We wanted a room for mother in the new home but couldn't wait so we decided to go ahead and move mom in to this home next door while waiting for completion. I was initially worried about how mom would make the transition but the staff made it so smooth and easy for her and for us. It gave us a great deal of peace of mind. I can't say enough about the staff. Many of their staff have been with Avalon many years. You don't see that often. We know our mother is being cared for by people who really love and adore my mom.

I moved my mom from another "upscale" memory care right down the road. Where mother was at before, the staff seemed indifferent and just there to do the bare minimum. When we moved mom to Avalon, the staff took an interest in who mom really is. They know all of the important details that make her day special...from how she likes her coffee to what time of day she would rather bath. When you walk through the door, you really feel the love. Before moving, mom was spending her day in her room and sleeping a great deal. Now she is up and spending her day engaged with the staff and other residents. I feel peace of mind knowing that when I leave, she is in the hands of people who truly love my mom.

My loved one was only here a short time for hospice care, but what they were able to provide for us was wonderful. The staff were friendly and caring, and the facility itself was well kept and clean.
