Avalon Memory Care

I like that this community is very caring and they are attentive to the residents. I am happy knowing that she is in a clean enviroment. The meals are appealing and a nice variety is offered. They offer activiies for her to participate. We would recommend the care and the value of thie community to other families.

Avalon Memory Care is a very beautiful and clean community. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. They take very good care of my father-in-law. The main reason we chose Avalon Memory Care is because of the staff to resident ratio. There is plenty of staff on hand and so far they have been able to handle all situations that may arise. They quickly clean up any incontinent issues the residents have inside and outside their rooms. They provide nutritious food for the residents. They have activities that residents can participate in. The staff takes my father-in-law on walks outside to enjoy the outdoors. It is a good fit for him and we feel we have made the best choice.

We are not happy with this community at this time. The staff does not always reply. This community needs more staff that will be available to assist the residents. The community is clean and the staff are nice and seem to care. We were not able to contact them when needed. The menu is appealing and they have a lot of choices. The staff is very personable and nice. We feel like they are understaffed at night. We would recommend this community to others, but more staff are needed.

My father spent his last two months at Avalon. Irene got the hospital psychiatric unit to release him even though he was being combative. He had so many physical needs in addition to his mental care, that even the hospital couldn't take care of him. She went to bat for us from the very beginning. Once he was to Avalon, then they began to care for him and to help us to understand what was going on with him. The doctors had been little to no help and we were all floundering. When we first began to visit him, he was so agitated that he even began to hit himself in the head. This change in behavior was totally out of character for him and had come on suddenly. My whole family left that first visit in tears. [Re moved] talked to us and explained all about vascular dementia, and other possible things we were seeing. She then guided us through how to interact with him so it was less stressful for him and us. We learned just go with where ever his mind happened to be that day and enjoy whatever phase of his life he was reliving. We learned to try to redirect him if he was agitated and just go with it if he wasn't. All the staff was wonderful and caring. They were quick to give hugs when days were particularly hard. Dad, who had always been the consummate Papaw, began to view the girls there as his girls. He would tease with them like his did with his grandkids. They cared for him and for us in the hardest stretch of our lives. The last several days before his death, they let our family be there as if we were at home. They were there for support but never in the way of our last special hours with my dad. Avalon is like a home, not a nursing home. They seem to truly love the people they take care of in a very difficult time of their lives.

I can not speak highly enough about this community. The caretakers and the hospice nurse have been great. They offer good food with good portions and they have a wide variety of options. They always have fruit on site for the residents. They offer a bible study, exercise class and they do puzzles with the residents. I would highly recommend this community.

Our mom has been at the Avalon Hughes Cirlce home now for over a year. She was living for a short period of time when she first came to Dallas at a group home in Carrolton. After only a few weeks there, she developed paranoia and was mean and angry and had behavioral issues which was not like our mom at all. The staff at that home and the owner recommend we put our mom on hospice. We agreed to do that. Hospice gave her lots of medications to calm her down and then on one day the hospice nurse suggested to me that some of these behaviors could be environmental and highly recommend that my brother and I look at some of the Avalon group homes. She told me she had patients at several and was very impressed with their care. [Removed] took my brother and I to some that were close to my home and work and when we went into theHughes home we instantly felt comforted by the amazing staff at this home. [Removed], the house manager, has been with Avalon for a long time and she is amazing!!! She is warm, approachable and easy to talk with. Her staff of [Removed] are all fantastic. Each one cares about the residents and truly knows what they like and how to get them to be engaged in the home. There is truly a sense of family there and whenever I visit my mom she is happy and content and loves her home. My brother lives out of state and when he comes to visit mom, although it is sad to see our mom decline in her Alzheimer's disease, he like me is beyond happy that mom is well taken care of, loved on and always clean and smelling fresh!! On a side note, after only a very short time at the Hughes home mom was released from Hospice and her behaviors and paranoia almost stopped immediately when she went to Hughes.[Removed] and I joke that the nurse was right about the environment- my mom is in a place that she feels safe and loved and is thriving and on NO BEHAVIORAL MEDS and IS SO HAPPY!! It is a sad disease for our family to watch mom but it puts us in a great mood to know that [Removed] and her team love on mom when we can't always be there!!! Avalon Hughes is wonderful!!!

We have been so fortunate to entrust the care of our Mother to Avalon. They are a wonderful facility and care greatly for their clients. The facility is very clean, and the staff is always welcoming, friendly and responsive. We have stopped in several times unannounced and have always received warm welcomes fromthe caretakers and found the facility clean and my Mom well cared for. We are blessed to have found Avalon and for the care they provide my Mom when she needs it most. Their values, customer service ethic, and pride in what they do shines. Avalon has my highest recommendation for anyone needing care for these special needs.

I was very frustrated where my mom was previously located. I did a Google search on dementia care in Arlington, TX . Avalon was the first place listed. I reviewed their website, in which they happened to offer a Move In special. I spoke with Jon who was very cordial and listened to my concerns and what I was looking for in place for my mom. Once I visited the facility, I was very pleased with the layout and the number of Caregivers ratio to resident. They have the recliners so that the residence can have their feet elevated. This was an absolute plus, because my mom's ankles and feet were swollen and this really helped her tremendously. My mom has been at Avalon for almost 2 weeks and she seems very relaxed and no longer anxious. The staff is very attentive and have been there for longer than 10 years. That says a lot, as Caregiver that they enjoy what they do and really care about the residence.

I would absolutely recommend Avalon at Willow Bend II. My mother is doing very well, it's working out just great. I have family who drops in randomly and she is always being well-taken care of. We are very pleased with this home.

We had my Mother in an assisted living. It was a nice place & I really had no problem with them. As my Mother's condition worsened she required more care than the assisted living could provide. Avalon has truly been the answer for her. They have the ability to observe her on a more constant basis due to the number of staff members to patients they have. Nothing but high praise for Avalon and the care they provide.

After my mom feel and broke her hip requiring a partial hip replacements, she needed more than skilled nursing due to her increased memory loss . Avalon Willowbend in Carrollton is everything we expected. It's only been 2 weeks that mom has lived there, but much to our family's surprise because she was living in her home prior to the surgery, she is very happy and content. She is enjoying the food, likes the staff and the other people living there. One of our family or friends visits with her everyday which I feel is a huge factor with her happiness. The staff at Avalon welcomes our visits and phone calls. I feel Avalon's mission is to care for each of its residents on a personal and individual basis and that is hard to find in any priced facility. I hope that continues no matter how long she lives there.

Dad has been in Avalon a little over two months. He seems to be happy . All employees are very attentive, out going and are exceptional in caring for people with memory problems. [Removed] is committed to insuring all residents receive the best care possible. Dad is very happy with meals. They do not permit patients to remain in their room, but strive to get them involved in all activities.

After a thorough search for good memory care in the area, my sister and I both knew Avalon was the place to be for our mom. The facility is clean and well kept. The care philosophy was not cookie cutter but was customized based on the residents' needs. The size was more like home with only a dozen or so residents. We wanted to avoid a "facility" of numbers where your loved one could easily get lost in the shuffle. What amazed us even more over time (mom has now been there 1 and 1/2 years) is the gentle hearts and genuine care of the staff. Avalon has managed to attract the best and manage the culture. When we take mom out for holidays or other visits outside, she can't wait to go home (Avalon) and is happy when she is back. Thanks to them, we are able to spend quality time with mom when we visit and sleep a good night sleep when we are away knowing that our mom and our best friend is in good hands. We are truly blessed to have found such a place and people who care!

This is very nice place, and my father is doing very well since his move here. I'am pleased with all they have done for us. I know he is safe, and receiving great care. It is well-kept community, they do a good job with the cleanliness. The staff is very friendly too the residents, and the guests. I'am very pleased with the staff. Everything has worked out very well, and I would recommend this community. It has a very homey atmosphere.

My father was here for a year until he passed away. I cannot speak highly enough about Avalon Memory Care. It's like a huge family, all taking care of each other there. [Removed] and [Removed] are terrific. [Removed] is the head nurse and is just so sweet and caring to all of her patients. The cooks are [Removed] and [Removed] and besides preparing the most delicious home cooked meals, they are fun and loving towards the patients and their families. The activity director, [Removed], is just about the nicest person you have ever met and has the patients making creative items, reading stories, and even playing poker. I recommend this location to anyone in the area. My dad had been in two other locations before moving here, and this was the best decision we've ever made for him.

I was happy with the care that my mother received here. The food was appealing and very good.The staff was very nice and always attentive to her needs. They d offer activities to residents who want to participate. We would recommend this beautiful community for the value and the care that is received by the families.

Our mother lived in the home 4 weeks before she recently passed away. She was also under Harris Hospice care! Her large bedroom had 3 windows and a walkin closet. She shared a large bathroom but this was never a problem. The staff showed compassion and love to all of the residents and their families. The residents were visited almost daily by loved ones! Our mother never experienced bed sores or was left in soiled clothing! She was bathed and had her pjs changed EVERY day! The staff sanitized the entire house daily! This is an excellent location.

II am very happy with the care that is given here to my dad. The staff are outstanding and always keepling me informed on his progress and any changes in the community even if my father is not affected. The food is appealing. They offer my father activities to participate in. We find the community to be clean. I know that he has excellent care here. I would recommend other families come and tour it for themselves, I am sure they would be happy with the value and excellent care.

my brother was able to tour this community. He was not happy due to to the odor. He found that other residents were not active and seemed not to have anything to keep them active and that is one thing that we really needed for our mom to stay alert and active. The food seemed to be appealing. The community was not a good choice for care here. Families might take a tour to consider the care that is received here.
