Avalon Memory Care

The staff at Avalon was wonderful especially [Name removed],[Name removed] and [Name removed]. They made [Name removed] last 3 months as pleasant as possible. They were also there for me. The food was excellent.That was [Name removed]'s comment. They had someone feed him when he could no longer hold his fork I would and have reccommened Avalon to friends looking for a place for a loved one.

We found Avalon Memory Care after an extensive search and unfortunately after much angst and frustration with low quality care at other facilities for our mother. Avalon's model is excellent in providing attentive care for those suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia. Ratio is 1:3-5. The small community allows the staff to get to know their residents and care for their individual/specific needs. The facility's home-like environment makes the residents feel secure and as they are part of a family. The food is prepared and served family style, not institutionalized. My mother re-gained an appetite and quickly responded positively to the staff and enjoyed the activities. We had peace of mind that she was well cared for and did not worry about her being left alone. Interestingly, she immediately stopped the 'wandering' behavior that previous facility said was such a problem. Unfortunately, mother died within a few short weeks after moving into Avalon. Our greatest regret was that we did not find it sooner for her to flourish and enjoy what time she had left. [Name removed] and her staff are skilled, joyous and loving. The most homey feel. [Name removed] made all the difference. She explain every thing. Very knowledgeable in her field. Was not trying to sell me the property. Shared very vital information, has been instrumental in trying to get my aunt transferred. This is the place!!

Avalon Memory Care Facility is a God send. My husband has been in several Memory Care Facilities since 2016. He also has been in and out of several Behavioral Hospitals because the staff is not able to handle is agitation and aggregation that comes with his illness. He has Mixed Dementia (Dementia with Lewy Body, Vascular and Frontemporal) which makes his treatment very difficult. [Name removed] and her staff have done an exceptional job of treating my husband as one of their own family members. They continue to work on building my husband's trust and I can honestly say i sleep better at night knowing he is where God wants him to be. The care is personal and they go out of their way to make my husband feel loved and cared for. Thank you Avalon for all you do! Praise the Lord. [Name removed]

Very clean,new, modern, and comfortable environment. [Name removed] was very helpful and patient, spending a lot of time with us. Outdoor space could be spruced up...a little dull and small. Food looked great, friendly staff, good feelings all around. We're definitely considering this one.

We were fortunate enough to be referred to Avalon after my father had surpassed his needs at an Assisted Living facility. The Team at Avalon far exceeded expectations of care, love and attendance towards dad. They were very engaged and communicative with me in a proactive manner. Innovative in ways they understand and build a truly honorable and dignified environment for the resident. The facility itself was spectacular. First class all the way, and a great value. Fell instantly at 'home' as my father did. I am so grateful for the compassion and care they provide to the residents.

We are so blessed to have our loved one here. After a horrible experience with a skilled nursing facility Avalon's principals and approach to individualized needs for your loved one with dementia and dementia related diseases is of crucial importance. The first time you walk in you can feel the difference. The residents are clean, relaxed and comfortable. The Administration is professional, and honest. The staff is kind, caring and compassionate. I highly recommend Avalon Memory Care! This is truly a blessing!

Our Mom has been there for almost 1 year. She has had several problems they had to work through with her. She came from the hospital and would not get out of bed but after 48 hours with the staff there they had her out of bed, of course with their help. The staff is always there to help each and every one with their different needs. Mom is not always a happy person but she can't help it because of the disease. Always a smile and a friendly hello when you walk in the door.

My mom has lived at Hughes house for over three years. In my opinion it is designed for people needing late stage care. There are not really activities because most residents could not participate. There are two care givers who have been there many years-Over a decade. The house manager is one of them. She does a wonderful job of overseeing the other employees. It really feels like a home. Because they have been with my mom for a few years it is clear they have a relationship with her. In a large setting, shift work by many people is the norm. It’s hard to have a real relationship with this model. This is the difference. They know their clients intimately and these long term employees truly do God’s work. These two are loving compassionate people who truly have a calling. There are at total of 4 full time employees at the house. The other 2 care givers have come and gone over the years but I’m thankful for the stability provided by the two who really run the show!

This facility had the right room at the right time. They were very quick in following up with me and getting my Wife in. The room they showed us was exactly what we were looking for. I’m very pleased with the staff and they know the residents by name. The staff members also know and react to the things she likes and doesn’t like. The community is tucked away and is well organized. I would recommend this facility to other families.

My dad went to Avalon 5 months ago. [Removed] and their team are nothing short of incredible. They are the ultimate definition of incredible customer service. They have really gotten to know our entire family. When mom died a few months ago, [Removed] even went with me and Dad to the wake.

This facility has is wonderful from the director down. They keep someone at the door at all times to let people in and out at all time of the night. The director is wonderful and the head nurse has been accommodating. The facility itself is clean and has hardwood floors. My sister’s room is big with her own heating and air conditioning. I would definitely recommend this community to other families.

Staff is nice and helpful and trying to learn how to work with her. The executive that we signed the contract with was gold. The food is excellent. There is a high turnover of staff though. But she is happy as a lark. They will try to engage her to join in the daily activities. It is clean and never smells. The owner [Removed] has his whole heart into his business and memory care. I would recommend this place.

Although it is a little pricy, it does compete with other nursing homes in the Arlington area. At Avalon, dad is in a home-like situation in a small building with 22 rooms. In his building there are about 14 patients. He is well cared for and the staff has been there for many years. There is not a lot of turnover in the staff, and that adds stability as one of the benefits of Avalon. They keep him clean, shaved, and treat him with the greatest respect. And they know the residents and their needs.He loves the food there. They gave me a list of the families that have had loved ones there to get feedback.

Avalon Quarterway did a spectacular service for my mother [Removed] Gentle Check for the last three years of her life. They were kind courteous helpful and loving. I highly recommend Avalon. Alzheimer's disease hit the founder's family which I think started them on this journey. If your family needs this kind of care, Avalon would be a great choice.

We were very satisfied with the community for my mom. They took very good care of her. This was my second time using A Place For Mom and it was very helpful.

Three years ago this month, my Daddy had to be moved from a nursing home into another facility because of his Alzheimer's. They could no longer take care of him and they gave me only 1 day to find a place. I had been praying about Avalon Memory Care in Arlington because it was close to our home. I called and talked with [removed], Vice President of Avalon and he was so awesome to work with, and he was so compassionate and caring. He helped me figure out how to make it all work and we could move him in the next day and work out all of the details then. What a load off my shoulders. Daddy went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2017 and from September 2014 until that time, he was cared for and loved by the compassionate caregivers. I never walked in for a visit that he was not dressed for the day except for a time when he had a cold and was in bed. Many times I walked in and one of the caregivers would be dancing with him, or maybe they were just assisting him with hugs and loving concern. Avalon also thought of the families by providing special events throughout the year where we could bring the extended family members together. Avalon was family for "Mr. [removed] or Papa", as many of them called him. As he lost his ability to carry on a conversation, he began to sing, not words but just a tune, and always the same thing, over and over! Never once did they complain about his constant singing because when he was singing, they knew that he was content with his "family". Alzheimer's is so difficult to experience the progression of the disease and knowing that he was so well taken care of really lifted the burden of uncertainty. We never worried about his needs being met. Many thanks to Avalon Memory Care, [removed] and all of the caregivers in Arlington #2 that crossed our paths over the past three years. God truly blessed us and we are so very grateful that He provided our Daddy with such an awesome "home" for the final years of his life. This is an excellent community with outstanding care. I like the menu for my mom. The staff is working to make sure she gets the meals that are needed for her special care. The community is clean with a nice environment. They offer her a lot of good activities. We could recommend this community for the nice value and care. I like knowing that they have the care that is needed now and in the future.

A couple of years ago, our mom began showing signs of dementia and was scared to live alone in her home. Because my siblings and I work full-time, it was necessary that she move into an assisted living facility. However, as her illness progressed, the facility could no longer meet her needs. She was extremely unhappy and felt angry most of the time because she was told to stay in her room in the evenings and not bother the other residents. She was experiencing “sundowners” and needed to roam during the evening. We even paid private sitters to sit with her in the evenings, so she would not be a problem for the facility. I received calls daily from their staff saying they needed me or her sitter to come up and help because Mom would not stay in her room. It was heartbreaking to see our mom feeling so sad and worthless. My sister and I set out to find a place that could meet our mom’s needs and make her feel special again. We wanted a place that understood dementia and could help our mom and our family through this difficult journey. After visiting several facilities in the metroplex, we chose Avalon Memory Care in Keller. We were immediately impressed with their professionalism, patient-staff ratio, level of knowledge about dementia/Alzheimer’s, and the love the staff had for their residents. We witnessed this all in our initial visit. We were sold and moved our mom in within a week. Avalon has truly been a blessing for our mom and our family. After about a week, we saw dramatic changes in her behavior and mood. The director and staff are amazing! They are highly skilled in working with dementia residents and truly have a passion and calling for what they do. Their attentive, caring, and loving spirits shine through and are easily picked up by their residents who know they are valued. Our mom no longer had to remain in her room in the evenings. She is encouraged to be out with the others in this home-like environment. We just celebrated our mom’s 88th birthday at Avalon! They prepared mom’s favorite meal, and we brought cake and ice cream for all the residents and staff to share. Our mom had such a delightful time interacting with staff and other residents. Our mom is so content and happy! We are so appreciative and thankful for Avalon, and for the founder who had the compassion to provide such a positive environment for those going through dementia.
