My uncle was a resident here. When we were involved with the admission people they promised the world. Once my uncle moved in they could care less. The social worker is a joke, no one returns calls and when they do they are useless. My uncle got bedbugs here twice ( never had an issue before he moved in). It was so bad the second time they had to move him out of his apt for 2 months then tried to bill him for a bigger apt. While he waited for them to fumigate. I would not recommend this Place to anyone who does not have family nearby who can run interference. What they charge is unbelievable and what they deliver is a joke. BTW, I am a retired social worker in another state so I understand the system.

I am writing this review so that people who are trying to make the right decision with respect to their loved one. Atria Grapevine is not what they portray themselves to be. I want to first start with my overall experience with respect to the facility based on my actual experiences for the 5 months that my mother lived in the facility. • They are chronically understaffed, and this leads to a level of service that was not anywhere near what they portrayed when they we first visited the facility. They didn’t have enough staff to: o promptly serve the residents their meals. o check on my mother as often as they said they would o communicate patient care effectively and promptly. This lead medication not being stopped, not being changed, etc. • The food steadily deteriorated over the time we were there. When we moved in it was good, the menu was varied. By the time we moved out it not as good as your average high school cafeteria • Maintenance and cleaning were almost non-existent. We had to make repeated requests for the lock on her door to be fixed, her toilette to stop leaking/running and to fix her a/c. The a/c unit for the apartment was woefully small for the square footage of the actual apartment • Even though you pay for cleaning, they are not very diligent and thorough when it comes to cleaning the apartment. I even swept some items into a corner to see how long it would take them to clean them up. They never did and I had to point it out to them Now we need to get into the financial aspects of the operation. My mother executed a lease in April 2019 and moved into the facility in mid-May. In the lease there is a clause that points out that if you are not physically living in the facility, you must pay your rent to keep your apartment but you are not going to be expected to pay for care, meds, etc. We noticed what we believed to be some billing issues and requested a meeting with the facility director in June. We discussed that per the lease we should not have been billed for the care and meds. Janie agreed that we should not have been charged and would get them credited back to us. We asked for a second meeting in July to discuss the issue from June as well as some other issues. This time the Medical Director was also included. We informed Janie that we were still looking for our refund for April and May. She was going to investigate it. More importantly we discussed that they had a new staffer who is charged with assisting the residents overnight. My mother complained that this new person was “mean” and when we asked what she meant she told me that “this lady asks me if I just stupid. And that I need to help her “We were told that they had an idea of who this person was and that it would be addressed. Instead of terminating this person they simply transferred them to another job. After that fact we discovered that there had been multiple complaints about this staffer We finally did get this credit to our account sometime in late July. There was change in Directors in October while my mother left the facility for a medical procedure. She was in the hospital and a rehab for the next three months. During that time was continued to be charged for the charges in excess of the monthly rent. We have repeatedly requested a refund of this balance with no response. To top it off, even though we were told that they could not accept my Mother back due to their assessment they did debit her account for the January payment. On an aside, my Mother was able to get into another facility at a reduced level of care. It does not appear that we are going to receive the requested refund amiably so “buyer beware” when it comes to Atria Grapevine

The food is terrible and they always say they ran out of the daily specials. The weekly cleaning staff who do the apartments overlook so much dirt, they never clean the microwave or refrigerator and I’m not able to do it myself because of my limitations. Some of the aids are downright nasty. And I thought I was misplacing things until I spoke with other residents who also “misplace” their pills, jewelry, and money. You figure it out!! I’d leave but I have no one to help me move so basically I’m stuck here for the duration.

Poor management. Some caregivers are great and others not so much. Very short staffed. Caregivers are overworked it. Residents don’t get the care they are paying so much money for because of lack of staff. Many residents are inappropriate for the facility because they are too heavy and caregivers have gotten hurt. Also a few residents in LG are verbally and physically abusive to other residents and staff.

My mother moved into a 2 bedroom apt. in Independent Living. The apartment itself was great but residents were not friendly and remained in cliques. Mom has always been a social person and has had many friends so this was not her fault. She had to move to the Assisted Living area there after 2 months due to a fall and needing more help while she healed. Staff there were friendly at first, then things went downhill, due to the head nurse in that area. She refused to let staff wheel Mom to meals which were on another floor, Mom was chastised that she was fully able to walk herself, which she wasn't, due to broken bones. Staff actually were mean to Mom several times, refusing to help her when she needed help. She was found unconscious a couple of times, and when moved to a rehab facility, we had had enough of the treatment she got there, and moved her directly into a different facility once she was released. Others have followed us and are leaving Atria. We had high hopes for Atria, but soon learned we had chosen the wrong place. (The head nurse there has now been fired.) (She is extremely happy where she lives now, has MANY friends there, and enough activities to stay busy. Staff there are great and always are willing to help.)

The level of care promised was never delivered. They do not have the proper staff with the proper credentials or experience. The sales person will say yes to about any question you ask, so buyer beware! They were not equipped to handle my mom and we had to move her out of their only after a few months (and two falls later). If you are a single person with good mobility and able to drive, I would recommend it. But, any higher level of care beyond medication management is asking too much of this facility.

my aunt no longer resides at Atria. the care givers were just okay. services not rendered for charges. the management was terrible. never available to answer questions or responded with "that is not my job". did not return calls or emails. had to contact atria's corporate office. issue not resolved. my aunt was hospitalized for two weeks and atria charged her care fees when service was not provided. questioned charges and a small adjustment was issued. understand this is a business and atria's goal is to make money. did not feel atria cared about my aunt's welfare.

There is not enough nurses at night here, definitely understaffed. Father had an issue and it took forever for a nurse to come. Was no way to send him to the emergency room by myself. If you want your loved one in jeopardy, stay here. Everything with elderly people happens at night, I felt helpless. Place clean and hotel looking.

I moved my 94 year old Aunt and 88 year old Uncle into this facility in July of 2017. In February, 2018, I requested that my Aunt be moved into their memory care ward. All was set, room chosen, furniture ordered and due to be delivered, when the afternoon before the move, the non-licensed nurse called to say my Aunt was evicted because she required two people to transfer her. Her assessment was made after two emergency hospital visits the week before, one due to AFIB, second due to a second fall after being released from the first hospital visit. She had not fallen previously, was walking in the hospital, so had leg strength. Now that she was on blood thinners she fell and was afraid to walk, and she was on pain meds making her fatigued. Instead of giving her a chance to build her strength, Atria kicked her out of "the last home she would need to move to", according to the sales woman when we signed up, just seven months after they moved in, one month after the $8,000 move in fee was non refundable. At no point did this facility show compassion or empathy once they decided to evict a 94 year old woman. So, apparently, if you are healthy, you are welcome to spend $10-20,000 per month at Atria Foster Square. If you become weak, you're out on the street. Meanwhile, at the new facility my Aunt and Uncle were forced to move to, my Aunt is being transferred by one female caregiver multiple times per day, receiving better care and being given physical therapy. Before deciding upon an assisted living facility, contact CANRH, or other elder care advocates and the State Ombudsman. There have been two fall deaths at this facility that should be inquired about.

This use to be one of the nicest senior home in Scottsdale but since new ownership of Atria (large corporation) it has gone downhill fast. The major issues are: 1. The food is absolutely awful. New chef but worse than ever . 2. They increase prices by over 7% per year. Poor value. 3. Management makes promises to upgrade the home but don't deliver. 4. This use to be mostly independent living with a separate section for assisted living. Now they try to upgrade you to their "Legacy" program which cost $500 more per person and offers inadequate staff that just roam the hallways with 2-way radios. 5. the dining room is packed with wheelchairs and walkers and it is dangerous for residents to walk through because it was not designed for this purpose. 6. There is always a shortage of staff so the current workers are overworked. Turnover is high. The only redeeming element is that they do a pretty good job with events for the residents. It is very sad that such a prestigious property has gone down hill so quickly. I would definitively would not recommend it unless you have a very large budget and can put up with horrible food.

I have only had experience with the LG/memory care and so my review only applies to that portion of the Carrollton facility. My father has been a resident for several years, and the staff that cares for him, has without exception, been outstanding. The management is like a revolving door. I have seen five directors come and go and it seems like the good ones leave sooner than the bad ones. LG only has 10 residents now and I think it's because of management. It's very difficult to move a memory care patient, but families are finding a way to leave, that's how bad it is.

Very unhappy with Atria Las Posas. My mother has been there for almost two years and the quality of care has really gone down. I went to visit her today and her clothes smelled of urine and her bedsheets had not been laundered for 2 wks! Her cotten bedspread was soiled as well. Ironically, they also raised the rates and insisting that she be upped to level 3 care at almost $6.000 a month. she does not have dementia and is ambulatory. Seriously thinking of moving her!

agree that they promise lots more than they deliver. don't believe it! some of the positive reviews are based on tours and visits, not actual experience of a resident or family. that's not even valid. all they're interested in is raising fees and adding extra services that should be included in standard care. money hungry! very poor responsiveness from top management; calls or e mails not returned. barely include families in any activities as in most other facilities. they just do what they want and don't answer to any one.
