Atria

We were attracted to them because, the sweet lady who invited us to tour etc. She left soon after and so did all the charm. They want your money and then horrible service. They only cater to wealthy independent residents. You must be self sufficient.

Would not recommend. The quality of the facility has gone down dramatically over the past 2 years. Not staffed appropriately, food is poor and staff is not proactive in addressing concerns. We picked them because of the location.

The facility and it's Administrative staff was great at the beginning, while my mom was fine and doing what she was expected to do. But the people who lived there were very cliquish and non inclusive to new comers. Part of her indoctrination from the staff was to help her get introduced and included in the different clubs and activities. That lasted about a week. It was so disappointing to me as she wanted to stay with me, but I was no longer able to do everything and wanted her to be somewhere with friends and that was safe and comfortable to her since she was starting to decline in health. I feel it was a huge mistake but one I was praying would get better as I just wanted her happy and safe. The staff seemed to care. There were some very nice people. But the longer she was there the more it appeared that a lot of services I paid extra for were not being done. They were not cleaning her room the way it should be and that was an extra [price removed]. a month. The did not shower here 3 times a week. They kept telling me she denied these things and they couldn't force her. So I said then don't charge me and I will do it. She said she did not tell them no. Some of her items started to be missing. When I mentioned it, they would usually "be found". When it was determined she had dementia I moved her to the intensive care area, basically because I felt like there were not a lot of better alternatives. Everything got worse. She was escaping the facility. I was having to actually pay for people to come watch her that were not employees of Atria! To the tune of $[removed] an hour! And then these people called me constantly wanting me to come and calm her down. The very reason I had her there was I was having my own health issues with MS and could not take care of her myself. It just got continually worse! I was in and out of the hospital and dealing with this and worrying constantly. She was falling. So I had started actively looking for another place when hurricane Hilary came here. It flooded part of her room. I was not informed. I could not get there due to the roads. When I did get there all her furniture was moved to the center of her room and huge fans were running! I told them she needed a different room! They said the would do their best. That night she fell! Was sent to the hospital. A broken femur. She did not recover and passed in the hospital. Did anyone reach out to me...no!!! So here we are, my mom gone in a terrible way and my life ridden with sadness and guilt over not being able to care for her myself. There were good well meaning employees there, but there were also ones that took great advantage of her dementia. And I feel the Admin and Atria itself is truly to blame. I made them aware of the theft, the non bathing, clothes missing. It was never a peaceful experience for her or myself while she was there.

This facility is NOT recommended for any individual who lives an active life style both physically or mentally. The facility needs an exercise area with treadmill, exercise bike and weights. Needs more varied and mind stimulating activities; most are geared towards the lowest common denominator. Infrastructure needs a major overhaul/upgrade.

The aria at the Arboretum is just what I needed at this point. Family herby. Austin close good location. Lots of activities choice galore.

It appeared to be a good place for Mom but the facility dropped the ball. After a few good months it took them 3 days to figure out she hadn’t been to the dining room for meals. She was sent to the hospital where she developed a blood clot and gangrene and passed away. A few days after sending her to the hospital we were told she needed a higher level of care and the cost would be higher. Added fees were exorbitant, $[removed] per month to administer an eye drop and one pill when she was taking them by herself prior to moving to the facility

High turnover rates among staff. Poor staff performance. Poor response from management to complaints. Continual escalations in costs for care with no corresponding increases in level of care. Cannot recommend Atria North Point. Their focus is not on the residents but rather on making as much money as possible from you and for the least amount of work in return.

Most of the staff was very friendly but they were under staffed and my parents were not taking care of timely or properly.

We did not have the best experience at Atria on the Hudson. I thought that the aides who worked there were too young and inexperienced in dealing with residents with dementia, and they were always short staffed. The aides complained about low wages and no salary increases even after years of working there

My loved one was previously a resident at Atria Carrollton and the overall experience was not great. We ended up moving our loved one to a different facility. They got a new Executive Director who is very rude and doesn't care about the residents. They fired the Service Care Director and Coordinator. They are overworking their med techs (one had over 40 hours of overtime in her two week paycheck) and they were not giving my loved one his medications properly, which the new Service Care Director admitted to me.

A lot of improvement needed. Disorganized, understaffed, overpriced, issues with heating and air conditioning occurred, large annual increases. People and staff are the best however. Friendly staff, and beautiful property with good location. Overall improvements needed in many areas especially facilities, and lacking value comparable to price

I would not recommend Atria Walnut Creek to others. The staff were friendly, but the managers were dismissive and communicated poorly. My mom was terribly bored at this facility. We moved her to a different place and now she's treated like a human by people who care.

Our loved one was previously a resident at Atria Woodbriar and overall, the experience was not great. The care was not very good and that is why we moved our loved one out of Atria Woodbriar and to another facility. Also, the rooms in Assisted Living had no kitchen.

Having lived here for five years, I am constantly surprised at the hidden charges. The latest, apparently, is the secret word “personal”. Laundry means only sheets and towels. Personal laundry is at least $15.00 a load. . An additional charge of approx a month. I do a lot of my own laundry myself, which can be tiring, because the laundry person loses my laundry or gives me some one else’s. She does not make sure that the machines are empty therebye mixing laundry. It would behoove anyone moving in here to have a lawyer read the small print. On top of this we get an approx 10 percent increase in rent each January but no increase in services. We do not even get housekeeping on a regular basis

My loved one is currently a resident at Atria Larson Place. This facility has rapidly gone down hill. The support staff is rude and surly. They seem to be very short staffed. I would not recommend this facility to others.

We have serious issues with this facility. We had our mother here for 2 years, and initially (when she was independent) Atria worked well. But then we noticed she was not getting the low sugar diet she was supposed to (ending in 2 trips to the ER with skyrocketing sugar levels) and when we asked if her moods were changing or her memory was getting worse, we were assured everything was fine. But it wasn't. She stopped getting dressed, wouldn't leave her room and ordered milk shakes for every meal. No one at Atria notified us of any of this. She clearly needed more care but no one addressed this. When we gave our 30 day notice, they immediately reassessed her care to twice the rate and tried to charge us for those high-rate services even after she had moved out. Very disappointed here.

We realize service overall is very marginal in every part of business throughout US - we see it. And we understand Atria had a new main nurse start the day after they arrived. And main office person got married and was out. But.....I can compare with all the other places. The set up, service needed reviews and transfer of records part went smoothly. But then after moving in they didn't get the help we signed up for(paying $$$) or meds on time and sometimes no meds at all (paying for meds mgmt). We switched from Atria care to private home care within 10 days and took back control over dispensing meds. Now things are working out and everyone is happy. Half the staff are very friendly and helpful and some are just negative and argumentative. Probably no different at most other places. Food very good and in dining room staff have been great. Upper management very nice but disconnect with making things happen. Activities fun for all and well organized

This was for respite care on the memory care unit. I continued to have billing issues long after my husband had left. The only way it ended was contacting the CEO of Atria. When I contacted them, they had said that they were unaware. Based off of our experience, I would not recommend Atria Park of Lynbrook to others looking. I feel that they need to make big procedural changes.

It is very close to where my mom currently lives, she had mentioned wanting to look into it previously.We would not recommend this place. Our mom did not enjoy her stay. Dirty food trays were left for hours in her room, as well as dirty sheets for days. The facilities were very nice, and the food was very good, but due to the other reasons she will not be interested in moving in long term.

It's tough for a person who is still very active, both mentally and physically to adapt/accept the surroundings. Residents are very warm and welcoming. I picked this community because, given my own health issues, I needed a safety net for my wife who is in the early stages of dementia if something happened to me.
