Atria

We went on an in person tour of Atria today. We believe this is the home for our mom. Our first impression on our virtual tour remains, Falls within our budget, very homey, staff is caring and attentive to all residents. Lots of activities; rooms are sizable and can be decorated with furniture from home. Residents appeared to be well taken care of an happy. We explained our inability to move in immediately and the executive director understood and is willing to work with us if possible. Pricing was good and all inclusive...no add on’s. This is the place of our choice, it meets all of our list of requirements for mom to have a quality of life that we would wish for ourselves.

My experience has been good. With Covid, I was quarantined for two weeks when I moved in, and they brought me all my food. Then when quarantine was over, they had an ambassador show me around the community. They introduced me to everybody we encountered. I think the way they have it set up, I felt very welcomed. Everybody was just so friendly, and asked questions to get to know me. You never feel lonely, because there's always somebody to talk to . The overall experience is excellent, and I would recommend it to anybody as long as you're able to be totally self sufficient. My only criticism is that when I was looking at Atria, they offered assisted living, and now that I've moved in, they no longer offer it. And I was never notified. We've all been vaccinated here, both the residents and the staff. They still take your temperature when you go in to lunch, and if you don't go to lunch, they'll come by your apartment to take your temperature. But they've lessened some of the restrictions. They take trips now to some of the stores - Walmart, Target, Kohls, grocery stores, pharmacies. Those were very limited for a long time. The dining room is still on distance dining, but it's open. They take you to doctor and pharmacy appointments if you need it, but you're limited to one trip per day. For instance, I couldn't go to Walmart if I was going to physical therapy that day. One of the nice things about Atria is the location. It's 2-3 blocks to the hospital, and there's all kinds of doctors and medical facilities in the area. There are grocery stores, drug stores, and restaurants nearby as well.

We chose Atria Cranford because we liked the variety of activities to keep residents engaged, the size of the room that she has, and the staff members have been nothing but wonderful. They are so accommodating. They do provide family face times and the director sends out emails, they do also have an app where you can stay updated. It is a little more expensive then a some others we looked at but I feel the care and quality they offer is worth it.

It is extremely pricey. While the services are excellent, it's potentially budget-busting if your family member is going to be there for an extended stay. You certainly get a high level of service for what you pay. The residents' rooms are quite good. My loved one is in a 1-bedroom apartment. My only issue has been with the heating/air conditioning system - it's pretty archaic and inconsistent. It seems like a small thing, but It's actually really important to keep the thermostat regulated for older people, especially when dementia is involved. It just surprised me that in an overall newer facility, the HVAC units are this way (needing to be adjusted often to maintain comfort). The rest of the facility is great - there's nothing old or rundown, and that's part of why we selected this community. The food took a little dip in quality due to Covid, but they just returned to restaurant dining, and my loved one has noticed a big improvement, not just in quality but also in agency - she gets more menu selection. And that's been very beneficial with appetite issues related to dementia. I think they've done a terrific job handling the pandemic. They've done a wonderful job of keeping the residents safe - I would give them 6 stars out of 5 for that if I could. I feel like they're offering a lot of activities as well.

My loved one loves the community. Communication is fair and really depends on who you talking to. I would recommend this community to others. The community is neat and clean and the staff is friendly

The staff was very nice and we really liked the community. We just needed somewhere closer to our family.

My mom loved this place, but a bit out of budget. Studios are very small for the price, but amenities are fantastic. Keeping it on the list.

Our experience has been really good so far and the staff members have been really friendly. I am on the independent living side and everything has been really good, and another loved one is on the memory care side and from what we can see they are being very well taken care of. The food is really good, and the quality is really good. However it could be served a little warmer at times and the service and be a little slow and inconsistent.

It is an older facility so it does not have all the bell in whistles, but its in a good location its comfortable and really nice. It has been an awful year, they have had to send the meals to their rooms, but now they have started going back to eating 1-2 meals in the dining room a day. Our loved one has a one bedroom apartment, its really comfortable. The staff has been exceptional and the director is wonderful. It is also a very affordable community.

I am an [age removed] year old resident of the Atria Hertlin Place. I was immediately treated like family by caring, friendly and loving staff. I made many friends and I love the activities we do together. My apartment is spacious, clean and cleaned once a week by cleaning staff. My family is close to where I live and they are happy I am here, for the same reasons as I. It is safe, secure, friendly and they have been dilligent in keeping us safe from CoVid. I couldn't be happier.

I am writing on behalf of my entire family when I say this is the most wonderful community, run by the most caring, informative, lnowledgable staff that we've come across. We have been looking for a community for our mother that will keep her engaged with friends, activities, love and support and we found it here at the Atria Hertlin Place. We would never want to see our mother anywhere else and feel blessed to have her in this community. The Atria Hertlin Place provides spacious apartments, with the amenaties of a 5 star hotel. All the staff is wonderful! [name removed] offers careful guidance in the most friendly, caring way. We are totally blown away by her attention to detail and how she knows the people in this unique community so well. Mom has made life long friends, loves all the meals and most of all loves being active. She is living her best life! And we feel Blessed

I am unable to compare this community with any other since this is my only experience of living in one. However, it would estimate that the management at this one compares most favorably with any of its kind. I have been most pleased with all about this place: staff, management, service, food, etc.

This really is a first class place, they have been working so hard during the pandemic to keep everything clean and safe. All the staff members are excellent and very professional. Having never been to the facility, the staff was able to get us hooked up with a good pharmacy. Our loved one actually really loves the food there, she is so happy with the activities. She was very isolated in the beginning, and now she is really enjoying herself. All the residents are so nice and she just loves the activities.

They were great! They are very caring and treat the residents like family members. During the pandemic they did hallway activities with the residents. I would like to see a bit more outdoor activities. This would be healthy for the residents. They do have a courtyard to use. The staff was excellent and always letting me know things about my loved one.

This is a beautiful facility and Susan was an excellent person to meet with. However, our situation is unique as we discussed with her so we have made another choice.

I would tell others to look into the community. It is a nice place to be at. I think it is worthwhile. They are starting to lessen the restrictions as long as you have been vaccinated.

We chose Atria because they were coming from another community and the activities that were provided here were much like they were used to experiencing on a daily basis. Also the building itself and the furnishings were very up to date and cozy and welcoming, it did not look like a typical senior living facility. What really sets them apart is their staff members, everyone has been so very helpful and accommodating especially during this year we have had. They have maintained the highest standards of safety as well as care and compassion. I would highly recommend them.

The community is great and there are a lot of friendly people in this community. The community does a great job with communication and does respond quickly. I would recommend this community to others.

We have no complaints with how they are treating our loved one there. The community is going through some renovations on the outside but the inside of the community is very clean. He really loves being at the community and really enjoys the people who are personally taking care of him. Our loved ones room is a little smaller, and its right by a highway so can hear certain noises so we are not a fan of that.
