Artis Senior Living

My brothers visited this after we'd seen some others. They liked the set-up, the amount of activity & proximity. With what we've experienced so far, I think we'd recommend Artis.

Artis is very welcoming and is homey. Staff is approachable. I only looked at 2 places. Artis was picked over the other one because of its size and the atmosphere.

My wife and ended up having to do basically all of her father's showering and hygiene care for 8 months. There was some progress last month. We both regularly wipe urine from the bathroom floor, clean a filthy toilet seat, and return dishes and food from in-room meals to the kitchen. We did not expect to have to do this. We picked Aryis because it was new, 4 miles from our house, and in our price range.

As with many congregant living, personal care homes, turnover is high among the newest direct-care hires. The more senior care-providers love the residents and are dedicated to providing great care. They often accept multiple shifts and/or overtime to ensure that residents get the care they need. The facility is laid out in a way that is ideal for residents who like to walk. In warmer weather the outdoor courtyard and porches are especially nice.

They helped my mom out a lot. And was even able to come back home. They were able to figure out it was more medical induced dementia. Been home for almost a year! I do recommend them but better for more severely memory problems. Mom wasn't as bad off as others there. And she never fit in. Mom was better fitted for a retirement community. They also charge for her for the highest level of care even though she wasn't. Which was fair. Even if it was a vitamin or aspirin, it was added to meds so they could charge the highest price for stay.

My loved one was previously a resident at Artis Senior Living of Davie and everything about his experience at this facility was very good. The staff was great. Everyone was very nice and attentive to my loved one and his needs. The cleanliness was very good. The food was good. My loved one didn't really participate in the activities, but they seemed good. Artis Senior Living of Davie is very nice, I would recommend it highly for dementia and Alzheimer's.

What we like the most about the Artis Senior Living of Lexington community is the cleanliness, it is spotless. We also like the surrounding grounds - it is open and the grounds are great. However the daily grooming has been somewhat inconsistent. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.

The facility is nicely laid out. Residents have plenty of opportunities to change their environment if they want without getting lost. All the management staff know all the residents by name and assist with anything that is needed. I like that they are hands on and not isolated in their offices. All the residents appear appropriately dressed and groomed. There are activities for residents all day but they are allowed to opt out if they aren't interested. It was critical for me that there was a range of residents from pretty high functioning to not. I ruled out many other places that were geared more to lower functioning individuals because my person needed to be around people who could walk and talk reasonably well at her time of admission. I'm a little disappointed in the responsiveness of staff to address issues that are not immediately critical. I hope this improves.

The only issue I had with them was that when my mom was first placed there, she was definitely having cognitive issues. While she was there, she improved and then felt isolated because she really didn't have anyone she could talk with. Overall due to our experience though I would recommend Artis Senior Living of West Shore to others looking.

We toured Artis Senior Living of West Shore when searching for a facility for our loved one. Our tour was given when activities were in progress. The facility was very clean and we were provided with a lot of information. They were very helpful.

Great philosophy about the care of dementia residents. Caring staff that is attentive and responsive. We picked this community, because of the location, activities and outdoor environment. The ability to walk around inside the building and gain the freedom of movement. Artis Specialized with dementia residents.If I had to make the choice again I would still select Artis. The only negative was that the building and interior showed its age.

The Director of the Artis Way/Case Manager, [name removed], plays a pivotal role in overseeing the wellbeing of the resident and their family by ensuring the care partners and staff understand an individual's needs. She "sets a resident up for success" and really pays attention to details about likes, dislikes, and family connection as well. My mom was declining, and they surprised ME with a birthday party so that my mom could be present. It meant everything. That being said, it takes a village, and being present and visible as a loved one is always beneficial in making sure needs are met by the staff.

The value or cost is way to expensive, but what we like most about the Artis Senior Living is the amount of staff to seniors residents living there. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would definitely recommend this community to other families.

We picked this community, because the location is close to me. I'm mad that the rent goes up every 5-6 months. Family should be careful because they raised the prices almost immediately after my loved one moved in with 30 day notice.

We picked this community, because my dad had a fall and went to the hospital and then to rehab. Over 30 days his dementia worsened and he needed a memory care facility as soon as possible before being released. They were available, very quick to evaluate and accept him. They were also very caring throughout the process. I would recommend it.

Since my dad moved in this past February, I have been Impressed with Artis Senior Living of Somers (which is impeccably maintained) and the staff. My dad comments every time I speak to him that the staff could not be nicer or more helpful. I am very comfortable with our choice and would definitely recommend Artis to someone looking for Senior Memory Care in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

It is a good fit for my loved one. It is a dedicated memory care facility. It has 4 communities, each with 16 rooms, their own dining room and screened in porch. So a fairly large facility but a hometown feel. They have a beautiful outdoor courtyard, tables and walk ways. Overall, we are grateful knowing that safety and health are monitored, and that music, art, books, and socialization is provided daily.

My loved one is a resident at Artis Senior Living of Woodbury. I really haven't spoken to anyone but the managers, but they have been very nice. My loved one says that the meals and dining is fine. My loved one chooses not to participate in the activities, but it looks like they have lots of options. I think the value for the money is very good.

All of the people that I met who conducted the tours were most pleasant, eager to answer questions and gave freely of their time. The facility itself is very modern and attractive. I thought it a little too big but was otherwise pleased.

It was a really good tour experience. it was a further dustance but it looked like a great community.
