I would recommend to others but would clarify that the rooms are small without room A/C. However the people are very nice along with the management which makes it work for people like my mother on a low budget.

You need to ask a separate question about the medical team, because they are technically separate! You pay a separate bill and they technically do not work for American House, but they are certainly part of the reason they are getting a 4 instead of a 5. So maybe you should ask the quality of medical (nursing) care and friendliness of nursing staff. Maybe those should be questions 9 and 10. The feedback that the nursing staff could use some retraining. My uncle (who lives there) says some of the nursing staff is rude and dismissive and will actually be talking on the phone while escorting him in the hallway. Which is super rude.

My mother has been there for one year. It’s very clean. Food is very good. Just know that lunch is the main menu and dinner is lighter. They pick up trash & make the bed daily. Clean the apartment once a week. Wash clothes & fold once a week. Clean sheets every 2 weeks and remake the bed. However, some times the medication and food delivery to room is late. Overall, when it is my time for being in an assisted living home this is the place I plan to move to.

for memory care as they only bring them to the activity if there is staff and that never happens. As with any place in healthcare, you get the ones that this is their passion and calling and you also have the ones that are just there as a "paycheck ". Admin staff is amazing!!! Our loved one is in memory care, and doesn't get to participate in all the activities due to short staffing and they don't have anyone to cover. That's probably the 2nd biggest issue. 1st is the staff that just wants the residents to be in their room. Memory care is already hard enough on the person.

Overall it's above average. Being clean, having a lot of planned activities, and the price stand out the most. The rest about average.

The facility that she is in is the detached non-assisted living section, my knowledge of the inner, assisted living section is going to be very limited. Cons: Minor repairs take longer than expected. There is one single handyman for all the facilities there. Simple repairs such as fixing a door skirt to keep the snow out in winter time, took over a month to complete. A task that took about 15 minutes to install once started. The sidewalks and parking lots are in a bit of disrepair. The residents have complained multiple times. This is a trip hazard for many of the residents. Long story short: upkeep is lacking a bit, and it makes for concerns for trip and fall safety. Cafeteria food is apparently REAL bad. They recently had a resident meeting to get these cons addressed and the only answer they got was a "we'll see" so hopefully they get fixed soon. Pros: most of the staff is wonderful and nice to the residents. They are treated with respect and are well looked after for their needs. Medical staff on site is helpful and schedules plenty of programs for the residents to assist with fitness, balance and do it in a fun way for the residents. The events planner there is a great person, obviously loves her position and the residents she plans outings for, actively engaging the more introverted people to get out and be a part of the community. Which brings my next point, the community is great. Nearly everyone in the community is friendly and accepting. They have stared suggesting & adding activities to the calendar for all the residents to do and enjoy at free/VERY reasonably prices. The apartments themselves are spacious enough and well constructed. (Again I have not seen the assisted living portion but I'd imagine it's similar) All in all, the facility is great, and I believe it offers everything my mom needs to thrive, both physically and mentally. But I believe the upper management there leaves much to be desired. All of the above Cons I've had can be directly traced to the upper management of the facility. Other than that, the place is clean, well put together, both physically and community wise. 8/10 would recommend.

[name removed] and all the Ameeican House team were kind and considerate for my mother's respite stay. [name removed]found a way to have my mom stay during my 5 day vacation. The faculity was clean and maintained including my mom temporary apartment. The medical team made sure she had her meals and meds each day. My mom said she enjoyed her stay. I would definitely entrust her care to AH Farmington Hills

We were shown a dining hall where there are servers and everyone comes to eat. The memory care patients do not participate in there they are brought simply a tray. We were shown all these "activities " and places for the patients /residents to go... memory care DOES NOT participate unless there is someone to take them and of course they are short staffed so activities (outside of coloring at their tv room) are limited. Of course it's expensive which all places are but we are aware that our loved one needed more than we can give at home

What we like the most about American House is the small long term staff of housekeeping and activity directors. Friendly office staff.

The cleaning staff etc are very kind and friendly. The kitchen staff are attentive to different needs and friendly. The administration isn't the friendliest. You will see them at their best when you're shopping for a facility. They have a lot of entertaining experiences for those who choose to be involved The medical side is leased out to another company and if one needs medical backup I'd recommend doing your own research on that company. They cover many facilities. Theres a lot online. Very little medical there. The boss nurse is a LPN ( when she's there).

Unfortunately, my Mom was not able to stay at the American House very long due to a number of reasons. However, American House was very supportive. They were great about setting up a medical team and other services. Overall the staff was great . The only concern I did have is that cost of assisted living did not include the distribution of medication , that was a separate cost .

We like the fact that the facility is smaller and unassuming. A small, home-like feel, no elevators (which are confusing for our mom).

It's a nice, clean, and friendly atmosphere. The food has a lot to be desired.

My loved one is currently a resident at American House Elmwood Senior Living and overall everything about her experience at this facility has been very good so far. The care provided to my loved one at this facility is very good. The staff is very friendly and engaged. The facility is clean and free of any odors. I would recommend American House Elmwood Senior Living to others!

The reason I didn't give 5's is because 5's would imply perfection. There isn't anything specific they need to improve, but the place isn't perfect. They are willing to work with you to make your family member feel at home.

We like American House Farmington Hills. The staff are great, and the surroundings are very clean. I would highly recommend it to other families in need of assisted living.

Moved my folks in after my dads stroke, and before covid. The activities are great, and they take time with each resident. After covid. They really have done a nice job getting the community together for group activities and outings. Dad has made many new friends and enjoys the music activities and other special events. He also enjoys the meals and he says "they serve good food" the staff is very friendly and they always have a moment to bring a bit of happiness to his day. When my mom passed away, they were very supportive, and very kind.

Our family had an in person tour with American House Westland and from everything we saw it seemed fine, but the community is a little to small for us and the location is a little farther away. Their activities director had recently left, but when we were on the tour there was a gentlemen there that gathered the residents into a room to sing and play the guitar which was nice to see. The community itself is also nice and neat.

It's in a bad location, and a scary neighborhood. The tour experience was good. There are two buildings. The building without the cafeteria was newer, and better.

This is a clean and friendly community. It needs help with activities and meals and dining. I would recommend the staff pay more attention to the residents needs in meals and activities. There are three meals a day served to the residents, and occasionally there are choices for the residents to choose from. The staff communication with the family is pretty good.
