American House

I came to visit this facility because it was recommended to me and I was invited on [date removed]. I took a tour and it is beautiful. Very open, very clean, friendly, busy but not loud, and my meal was good.

Its a pleasant way to retire.

The building is clean, attractive and tastefully decorated. The amenities offered are up scale and the tenants are very friendly. The food was excellent and if I lived in Florida I would consider American House Wildwood. Our hostess Joanne Ling made our stay exceptional.

The first time I visited this community I knew that this is where I would live when I retire. This building gives you such a comforting feeling the minute that you walk through the door. everyone is so cheerful and pleasant and my lunch was fantastic!!

The experience with Elmcroft Kingsport has been wonderful! Our family member needed a safe environment, but more outgoing opportunities and independence than were previously available. Social interaction, and some guidance with meals & medication are her biggest needs, & she was greeted, validated, & included in the many activities from her first day there! In the scant month she's been a resident, I see more spark and liveliness in her. With others who care and show interest, her level of engagement & interest is growing! The dining set-up is relaxed & cozy, it's like the heart of the facility. With varied and tasty menus, the staff are friendly, and they circulate among the tables, speaking and joking & chatting with residents. Guests are encouraged to eat with the residents and visit--this has been a pleasant experience! We also love the fact that our family member's pet can stay & life with her! If more help with her pet's care is needed, it's available for us. The facility is clean & well run, the planning and carrying out of daily routines smooth and seamless--I visit 4 or 5 times a week, and have the highest praise for Elmcroft Kingsport and its administration and nursing staffs. Up-to-date computer systems track each resident's activities & meds, so I can get an update from any nurse on 'how the week has gone'. Medical staff come in several times a week. The several sheltered courtyards allow gardening and some outdoor time, and the shady front porch has ample cushioned rockers to sit and visit in. There is a little library, an exercise area, a TV nook, as well as a large, airy infirmary & a huge living area One difference I've noticed here, is that a pervasive spirit of inclusion & kindness seems to be modeled by the staff, and then, in turn, by the residents for each other. This makes for a safe and homey feeling--& one that's hard not to smile with and become a part of! Activities are meticulously planned, with many outside groups and people bringing interesting experiences to keep everyone lively! The Elmcroft Van seems to always be on the road. From manicures to line dancing, art projects & music to word games, Elmcroft Kingsport is providing an inviting and interesting lifestyle to our older loved one. I'm so glad we are a part of this vibrant community, and I recommend it heartily to anyone needing assisted living--they are crafting a good life at this lovely little Jewel of a facility!

I have visited many other assisted living communities and Elmcroft of Kingsport is by far the best around. The staff is well trained, the resident's are always engaged in activities, and the building is well kept.

My mom has lived here for 2 1/2 years. We couldn't ask for a better place. They have great events and good food. Everyone is helpful and the building is always clean.

My dad lives here. The staff is always attentive to his needs. They are very courteous and polite even when my dad can be "too much" or not very pleasant. He is taken very good care of and he seems to like it here. Thank you!

Cannot beat the staff and care you get at Shallowford!! It's like one big family there.
