American House

The property is brand new so everything is perfect. It also means all the residents will be transitioning and getting to know each other at the same time. Lots of great amenities and the rooms were beautiful with high ceilings and natural light. Improvements would be patios/balconies for all units, community garden and more large units.

I think they're good. I just feel like the people that are in charge of the medical care - which is a completely separate entity - have some overly strict rules about meds and stuff like that. I tried to get some more natural medicine to help my loved one, and they said it wasn't allowed because it didn't come from a pharmacy. The staff at American House itself are great. I feel like I can be honest with them, and they have done all they can to help me with our unique situation. They've been very good to me and very patient. My loved one has ended up being quite a difficult resident, and they've really worked with me to give me time to figure out our next move.

American House has done a fantastic job during this past year with the pandemic, and despite the community going through some remodeling it is still kept very clean. They are doing a great job bringing back the activities for the residents, and what we really like most about this community is the way its built. Its spacious and for this area we feel that we are getting the best bang for the buck.

It is a good place to be for your loved one. Financially this is lower in cost than several other communities in the area. They don't do much for activities other than Wii Bowling and Cornhole. I'm hopeful the community can take the residents out this summer after COVID.

We felt very welcome during our tour of the American House in Petoskey. Our guide showed us two apartment options, and during the process my mom was able to have conversations with a few of the residents. All of our questions were answered!

We struggled with convincing our family member that this was the right move, but he's just been so much happier since he made it. It is incredibly clean here. The front desk staff and the property manager that we've talked to have been helpful and responsive. And while we know activities have been extremely limited, we also know that's been due to Covid. Even with Covid restrictions, they've tried to have some things for residents to do, with masks and social distancing. It was nice that they were making the effort to keep people engaged. And now that everyone has been vaccinated, they're starting to incorporate more activities. My family member has been really happy with the food. They have a good variety, with something different every day, and different choices, and everything has been well cooked and delicious.

We chose American House Cedarlake because they were more cooperative at the front end trying to help set things up for us and they seemed to know what they were doing. The room sizes here were very nice and spacious. They were above average with their communication and I would recommend them.

Everything is wonderful

The staff members would be more than a 10, they are amazing. The activities are a hit or miss and due to the state requirements if someone tests positive they have to shut back down and quarantine. However, the activities director does an amazing job with what she can.

I would highly recommend American House Milford. The staff are caring and kind and my dad was so happy there.

I think this residence fits the bill. Excellent (unscheduled) tour of the property with Tempa Finch. The one bedroom units look just like an apartment and I think my mom would like that very much. The bedroom is separate from the living area which is nice. The facility is adjacent to St. Stephens' Catholic Church, which, when my mom is fully recovered I know she would love to attend. The residents all seemed happy and friendly. One resident I spoke with gave the facility a glowing report, and she had lived there for three years and had made great strides in her health due to the physical therapy and occupational therapy offered at Elmcroft.

Out of everything we saw, this was the place that was immaculate. This would be the one I would recommend. I really wanted to get my loved one in here, but just couldn’t afford it. The woman we dealt with here was very nice, had a great sense of humor, talked to us, answered all of our questions. If I could give higher than 5 stars I definitely would.

They really took care of our loved one while he was there. They were always calling him to check in, they were very easy to talk to and just very out going. They were not strict at all, they really worked with us. And ever after we left they still called to see how he was doing.

If I needed to go to an assisted living place, I would go here. It was very nice. The dining room and the whole layout was very nice. The staff was very caring. If I ever had any concerns, all I had to do was speak to someone and they would take care of it immediately. The food was excellent. There was so much variety on the menu, and my loved ones enjoyed the country style food. If they didn't feel like coming to the dining room, Elmcroft would bring them their food in the room. They made a special effort to not have the same thing over and over again where you would get tired of it. I tried one of the desserts and had to get the recipe for it because it was so good. It was not just your typical plain cake. It was like they were cooking for a family. They had activities going on all the time. My loved one particularly enjoyed bingo. They also had sing-alongs at the piano, and Mardi Gras Day, and they went out of their way to celebrate all of the holidays. The activities director was so sweet. I appreciated that I never felt like I had to worry. I knew my loved ones were safe and well cared for here.

The community had a great activity group and they kept everyone very engaged. Communication between the staff and our family was very good and they kept us well informed and up to date. I would recommend this community to others.

So thankful we found Anthology. After being somewhere else that was a disaster, the whole family was able to sit back & relax. We chose Anthology for the location, cleanliness & freedom to visit according to State Covid Protocol. They did a through job keeping track of guesst, visitor Covid tests & quarantine when necessary. The staff (Management, Health Assessors, Main Desk, Nurses, Janitorial, Maintenance , Dinning, Therapy, Activities...) are all as sweet as can be, which is very important, but they also follow all of the rules. [name removed], the pleasant & very organized, manager, gave me her contact info & assured me I could call her anytime, She would immediately reply, which was such a difference from the last place mom stayed. It took a few days for mom to make her way out of her room, but once she did, she made many friends & loved the activities. Legacy in house PT OT & exercise class was an absolute blessing. Unlike other therapy places, they didn't give up on my mom.

Excellent staff, friendly, clean, overall I would recommend this to others for their loved ones. The best thing is the warmness, the staff get to know you and don't make you feel that you're just family to the resident. The food is something I would change. They don't have specialty dietary needs assistance for the residents' food.
