American House

I only had one problem which I was equally responsible for. I used their doctor, but I didn't really sit down with the in-house doctors physician assistant who prescribed the day to day meds and care. I explained that he got constipated and provided miralax for daily use. Apparently it was labeled as needed upon request. My husband was very easy going and they loved him. But when he becomes constipated he gets agitated and aggressive. He is non verbal and could not communicate his problem. He was also continent. I did not pick up on his problem when visiting until he was so backed up and he couldn't locate his room or a bathroom he would go into others rooms to find one. Since it wasn't his room he became aggressive with other residents and staff trying to get him back out. It took three incidents over a two month period until they forced him to go for psych evaluation and drugs. When I finally figured out what the problem was and requested a laxative ( which they only gave if he asked for it -- again he was nonverbal) it was too late to stop the stay at a Geri psych hospital. While there he aspirated. The hospital then returned him to Burlington Creek, got placed on hospice and died of pneumonia a week or so later. When I had him in a small nursing home memory care in Texas before placing him in KC, they gave all patients something daily to keep them regular and encouraged them to drink water several times a day outside of meal times. This apparently was not the practice at Burlington creek. once he was placed on hospice and he neared his last few days, the med tech was super sweet, kind and gentle, and was as loving as a daughter. He was loved there, Burlington Creek and his medical provider just didn't understand the effects of constipation on dementia patients. None of us did.

I highly recommend and have to a couple of people.

Mom moved into mount prospect with the referral from a place for mom. She has made so many friends. They have happy hours, church service and card games every night. She said she should have moved 2 years ago. The food is good and the menu has lots of options. Her favorite is the homemade soups everyday.

I would say that the community of American House Hendersonville is warm, friendly, and caring. My Gran gets good care with friendly caregivers. She is content with being a resident. The memory unit gives compassionate complete care.

The staff was great. Everyone from housekeeping to the additional services. Everyone was always smiling and helpful. Mom had pretty low hunger and we had breakfast and dinner delivered. She went to the dining room for lunch. She'd send me home with the left overs and they were quite good. I highly recommend this facility. In fact, I'll probably end up there when I need assisted living.

American House for senior living is a wonderful community for seniors. Well maintained, independent living with options for continued care, nice facilities, fairly affordable (guess that is relative), friendly staff and accommodating.

My dad was previously a resident at American House East 1. He liked it there. The facility is very homey feeling. The food was excellent. Ultimately, we ended up having to move him to an Assisted Living Facility due to him needing more care. AH East 1 called me a few days ago because they knew where my dad was going. They wanted to make sure he and I were okay. That is going above and beyond. So appreciated.

The staff is amazing. So very friendly and helpful. They genuinely cared for my mother and for my family. It was so refreshing seeing staff that actually liked being at work and interacting with the residents. They made my mother feel so welcomed. She was on hospice when she joined the facility and they treated her with respect. They got her out of bed without me having to beg them to like at her previous facility. They checked on her often and interacted with her like she mattered. The nursing staff went above and beyond for my family at the end and I cannot express gratitude for them. I have recommended the facility to everyone that has asked. They made her final days on this earth peaceful and filled with comfort.

My Mom is very happy there and I can only say good things about American House. I'm so glad we found it.

I just want to say the American House Hunter is amazing. My mother lived there for about a year before she passed. The staff were amazing. The supervisor for the medical team was very compassionate. My mom was on hospice and towards the end the supervisor always made sure she was very comfortable. The staff of American House was awesome. I would recommend American House Hunter to all my friends and family.

Everyone at that facility are awesome. My friend lives there and everyone takes care of her. Had a question for the medical staff and the site supervisor answered my question and even went above and beyond for my friend. Which was really nice of her. My friend has no complaints. I would recommend this facility to everyone I know.

Like the cleanliness and size of room. Least, friendliness of staff, not bad but could be better.

Well, I loved the director who was there when we checked in. I never got to meet his replacement so I don't have an opinion about her. The rooms were a little small so you have to be creative about decor. I think having a room to yourself is the way to go if you can afford it. Most cannot. It took a little while for us to get her TV working because of issues with the cable but finally got that worked out and was great. The staff was really knowledgeable about who to contact if you needed to use outside services like physical therapy or home health. The meals were pretty good. My MIL really likes the sweets. We chose that place because it was in an area that was already familiar to her and convenient for us to go there. Also the other places we looked at were more expensive and we didn't really like the area they were located.

I would recommend American House Coconut Point to a family member or friend.

At this time I'm a little frustrated with how the Covid outbreak at Ahvb was handled my dad ended up in the hospital. Overall I would recommend this facility to others looking for independent living.

We're just very happy.. small patient to staff in the memory care unit, staff know their patients well.

Staff are very informative and follow up as needed, especially for some things that non-residents may not be aware of.

Wow! Moved mom in last week and couldn’t have been a better experience. Therapy, care, and food has been excellent. The first night I even stayed with her. The staff is so loving and attentive. We now have mom set up with therapy 3x week. Couldn’t ask for anything better. Thank you mount Prospect.

The facility is always clean. The staff are all friendly. There are available activities. The move in was smooth and quick compared with another facility that was quite troublesome. I would recommend this facility. Suggestion: Our family member has a small refrigerator so that he has access to some of his favorite snacks and desserts and drinks. The menus at the facility tend to be repetitive.

They are very good to her and we love the facility. Staff is very friendly and attentive to residents. The onboarding with [name removed] was easily understood and pleasant.
