The sales person didn't seem to know anything about the community.

Has an odd odor. Carpet , furniture soiled. Walls need painting. Whole place in need of updating

Not very clean. Needs updating Furniture looks old. Cupboards in the rooms are old Disappointing

We were very unhappy with our experience, it was poorly ran and they did not have anything to do with the people that were in assisted living. Those residents would just sit and watch TV, there was no stimulation or engagement. Our loved one moved in being able to walk, and when we took our loved one out their heath had declined. We believe they were short staffed at the time and it was just hard to get a hold of anyone there.

We toured American House and it was not a very good tour, it was the least impressive out of the places that we visited. The facility was way back off of the road and the parking was not convenient. I just did not get a good feeling from the staff members during our visit.

I would suggest you go to a different community. The medical team at this community was horrible. I had to complain that my loved one wasn't getting the care that our loved one was promised. We asked for specific food and the staff couldn't get this right for our loved one. The food was being delivered by the medical team, and they wouldn't give the food on the tray for our loved one. Once our loved one wasn't able to eat, the team continued to bring food even after we asked for them to stop. The communication wasn't good between community and the care team.

The original Stonecrest management was very very good. With each change of management it has gone downhill. Serious issues with management and nursing care....to the point of not administering medicines regularly and to the right person. Can’t get those in charge to return inquiries and address problems.

I like the pricing of American House. They have the most bountiful supply of food out of any independent living place I have seen. They also have a very high population of men for independent living. Two things that really turn me off about American House is they do not have wi-fi throughout the building including resident rooms. They also do not have central air. There is not a lot of perks, but the cost of the place also reflects that.

We moved our loved one from this community recently due to the lack of services. I wouldn't advise anyone to go here. Most of the Office staff that was there when we started are gone, overall not enough staffing anymore. No one to provide information in a timely manner to the families.

This review is specific to the memory care area of the facility. They do have a lot of caring and helpful staff members who work here. I think the activities director does a really good job for assisted living but not as well for memory care. They advertise restaurant style food, and in assisted living you do sit and tables and get served but I do not think I ever saw fresh food. The choices were very very limited. Then in memory care it has been even worse, the kitchenette where they were preparing the food was not good and it was shut down. Now food is being brought in a heating cart and is not good. The physical facility itself is also not well maintained. If you can afford it, I would recommend going someplace else.

Despite the covid shutdown a family friend of ours has been able to visit our loved one through face to face porch visits and occasionally in the lobby. The staff turnover right has been phenomenal, and the communication between the community and the families has been horrible.

The staff is very friendly and helpful! Housekeeping is excellent and all very nice kitchen staff and chef is good! Medical team too many start and quit in a couple weeks. Not good. Maintainance man is wonderful.

My mother has been at American House Coconut Point for 4 years. They have gone down hill over this time. They have gone through so many people in upper management, dining staff and head nurses. My mother has had a few unfortunate circumstances that were handled in the most unimaginable ways! Besides the front desk attendants and a few staff members, this place has become a nightmare!

My Mom and Dad lived here together for 1 year, then my Dad lived here another 15 months after Mom passed. If you want a place that looks like a nice hotel, this is the place for you. If you want a place that provides good care, keep reading. When my parents first moved in, they were given emergency call buttons to wear around their necks. In the time they lived there, the button was pushed 7-9 times, and never once did a staff member respond. Once, when I went looking for a staff member they said the reason no one came in response to the call button was because they were on break! Marketing staff told our family that they have on site nursing 24/7. In the over 2 years my parents lived here this was not the case. When I questioned the Director about it she would say we have someone on call, but that person wasn't always reachable, and "on call" is different from "on site". In the two years my Dad was in memory care there were at least 5 directors over the unit. They would last a few months and leave. One said she had come from mental heath with the state and if she could do that, she could do this. She resigned in less than 6 months. Nothing improved because the director was always new or on her way out. In addition, staff turnover was high. Before COVID, Infection control was non existent. I never saw staff have the residents wash their hands or give them hand sanitizer before sending them off to eat, and I was frequently there at mealtime. Marketing will show you an extensive list of activities and a gourmet menu, but that isn't reality. It is easy to print a list of activities or a menu, especially when it isn't followed. The activities staff was 1 person for Memory care (she was very good when she was there) and 1 for Assisted living. The staff doesn't work 7 days a week, so when they had their days off, no activities took place. Also, when you ordered off the gourmet menu, they would simply say we don't have that today. At least half the menu wasn't available on any given day. When my Mom could no longer care for herself, she would go 2-3 days without her clothes being changed, or her teeth being brushed. Her care plan called for this to be completed daily, it was usually only done when I visited and asked someone to do it. When I would ask about it, staff would say she doesn't want to have her teeth brushed. However, if my Mom was able to make good decision about her care she wouldn't have been in Memory Care. The Executive Director would hold monthly meetings and many families had these same complaints. She would promise things would be corrected, but that never happened. Once, we were told that they couldn't hire enough staff because of the location of the facility. However, they were holding an open house to recruit more residents. If you don't have enough staff to care for the current residents properly, why recruit more residents? If you tour here you will be impressed by the looks, but nice wallpaper and a fancy entry foyer doesn't mean good care.

Not what is used to be! Very over price for what you get today and upper management will basically tell you anything to join. I notice director not very kind to working employees as well. Constantly raising fees & food below average. Working care staff was very good though & kind. Went to other local place in Highland and substantially better and all way around.

This house was clean and the residents appeared happy. Our tour guide wasn't able to answer some of our questions, however she was a replacement for [name removed] who had to leave early. We noted there's absolutely NO security. Anyone is able to walk in from outside. This 3 story house has 1 elevator that will be replaced starting today. This will leave residents on floors 2 & 3 with only the stairs The units we saw are quite nice and aside from the above mentioned concerns, it would work. We look forward to continuing our search.

Sales staff was not available at scheduled time. Business office stepped in and answered what she could. Saw a model IL 1bd/1ba. Too big. Beautiful, but parking is a problem. As with AHBS, supervised independent living possible. Medication distribution an extra for both AL and SIL. Studio in SIL not available, but in AL very large. Need to go back when sales person is available.

Director is young and kinda creepy and has no clue how to run a memory care facility. Very unqualified. However the staff seems to be very attentive to all residents. I ended up putting my loved one elsewhere. Didn't want to take the chance

The location was too far for us. The building is 3 stories and up high on a hill. Has great views and the units are good sized. It did not have adequate parking for visitors. Some rooms in the common area were a little cluttered, but clean. The layout was not ideal.

When you first arrive, Everyone is nice. Then once you move In, it takes forever to get help. It seems as though they are short staffed constantly. The food is horrible. The kitchen help doesn’t know what they are doing. This has been an ongoing problem for years and doesn’t get corrected. It is horrible!!
