I wasn’t that impressed with Anthology at Burlington Creek. We toured during Covid, so they had everybody locked down. The place was nice, but the staff didn’t seem friendly.

During the day the community is fine and not a bad place for your loved one to be. In the evening and overnight it is a different story and I feel no one is watching the residents as closely as they should be, or to take care of any issues that come up with the residents at this time. The staff communication with the family is pretty good, and they are good at responding to our questions or concerns.

There were no qualifying questions by the community. In the few minutes they told me what they couldn't do, instead of what they could. The assisted living area was smaller in the common areas. The fees were too much for us.

I didn't care for the community during the tour, due to it being to chaotic. This wasn't the right place for my loved one.

American House is severely short-staffed for their clients. The lack of staff has effected several of the caregivers. They usually only had one caregiver in the memory care unit at a time. Although they said there would be two during the day and one at night. Many of the caregivers had never been around memory care residents and didn't know their names or how to care for them. A caregiver approached me one day asking if there was meat in the soup, she said that a resident couldn't have meat but didn't recall who it was. Their record keeping was very laxed and my step-father was taken to the E.R. because he had 4 liters of urine in his bladder. He almost passed; the doctor said if they didn't bring him in when they did, then he would've died that night. This was a result of them not knowing that he hadn't urinated in some time. When he was discharged from the hospital, the doctor(s) refused to release him back to American House. They accepted him after their initial evaluation, although he was beyond the level of care they could safely give. He fell several times a week and had about 4 to 5 E.R. visits in total. The staff were trying, they just didn't have enough people so they were shuffling employees around. They were also using outside sources, but they weren't familiar with the residents either. There were only 8 residents in memory care; I thought that they would've had a better oversight. A note book or a chart with the residents names, allergies, etc. would've been helpful. Overall, they didn't have enough people and management staff often didn't know what was going on with my step-dad. Everyone we came across were super nice, they were just lacking in staff and everyone was running ragged.

This community was just a no for us. We saw 0 residents outside of the rooms. All of the doors were closed and they just tapped on the memory unit door and kept walking. When I asked to see the memory unit it was not up to our standards. It was a okay community it was just not the right choice for my loved one.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a very nice tour experience but that the time due to our loved one health state we did not think it would be the best fit

This overall has been a difficult time for my loved one in the community. The community appears clean; however, there was an incident with bed bugs. They try their best, and the community is nice. Most of the staff is good about answering questions or addressing my concerns. My loved one is not happy with some of the staff not listening to them and my loved one doesn't feel the staff value their opinion. I'm trying to decipher if this is my loved one or the community that is the issue for my loved one. The food has been good for my loved one and they seems to be happy with what is served. Some of the activities are spread out into different buildings. There is a hair salon for my loved one to get their hair done.

Don't go there. I had a horrible experience. My loved one enjoyed meeting other residents, but that was about it. We had an emergency situation, and they didn't come when we pushed her alert button. So I had to run and find somebody. Then they wouldn't let me call 911. They said they had to do it, so it took longer. Management was just terrible. Some of the staff were good, and some were horrible. It seemed to be one extreme or the other. The food was horrible. And the pricing was ridiculously high. There were some good things for my loved one as far as socializing and activities, but the bad things far outweighed those.

A lot of things are good. It's a beautiful place and looks like a resort hotel. But I don't care for the most of the caretakers in memory care. I don't think they're very nice to the residents, and they ignore their requests at times - although that can be a problem anywhere getting quality workers. The food is also terrible in memory care. It's always cold. Never warm.

We did have a negative happening. My loved one falls a lot and she fell and pushed the button and they came in and told her it was going to cost her extra and they did not treat her with dignity at all. She said that the food is too salty as well and the quality is not very good.

I would suggest that you gage the staff that is caring for your loved in the first 3-4 weeks. If there are changes you would like to see I would suggest you speak up and see about making these changes for your loved one.

The apartment they showed me was very small. And there would have been a lot of walking to do, as it was not near the exits. I also didn't like that it seemed like they wanted me to hand over all of my care to them - food, cleaning, laundry. And I didn’t have a choice in the matter. I chose an independent living community that allowed me to choose to do those things for myself.

It is a nice place to live at, the people are all very good. So far I really like the weather.

If it weren't for COVID I would rank it higher (assuming we had more help). I wish we could recycle. I wish we could be told when a resident is in the hospital for more than three days. We worry when someone is sick and would like know with the just di.

It is okay sometimes you can come and go as you please. Most of the tem is okay then I guess they have their days when they may issues but other then that they are fine.
