American House

I'm very satisfied with what they provide at American House. Is a nice looking community, and always looks very well kept and clean. The staff are all very friendly and personable, and do a great job keeping everyone comfortable and entertained. It's a very nice place overall!

Spoke with Rebecca, who was very nice. Much prefer an all inclusive rate instead of a point system. It took a full day to hear back from her on the rate, and by that time we had decided on Wellspring.

The staff here are very friendly and helpful, and they keep the facility itself looking well kept and clean. They were very helpful during the move-in process, and made sure things moved along smoothly. We had a large list of places we were scheduled to look at, but once we saw American House Troy we didn't feel the need to look any farther, we just knew it would be a great fit for our loved one. One area they could improve, and this was true of the other American House we saw as well, is the food. It's not bad, but it just isn't very impressive.

Elmcroft of Shallowford has a staff that have always been helpful to my mom in her transition to assisted living. There is always someone there I can talk to about my mom and how she is doing.

They are doing a good job and they are relatively clean and friendly and all. I think they do a really good job with activities, there seems to be a lot going on. The only thing that I would say that could be improved is that, they have a tax credit program that you can get a reduced monthly rental rate, and even those in the highest position have a hard time explaining that program and how it works exactly. They aren't able to assist and address questions, I think that it's a pretty important program and someone should really be able to explain it clearly to the residents and their families. The overall environment and the location are reasons that we chose them over the other options we considered. The food doesn't get rave reviews, it's about average, I wouldn't give it more than a 3.

After viewing other Assisted Living places I appreciated the Home Like atmosphere Elmcroft at Hamilton Place presented. Mr. Billy Cross, with whom we spoke, presented information truthfully and completely and with compassion. I was impressed and therefore chose to be here at Elmcroft at Hamilton Place. I might add that the entire staff is second to none.

The complex has nice curb appeal. They've recently renovated walk-in area so everything looks fresh, clean and inviting. The one bedroom apartments are very spacious with lots of storage areas and have full kitchens. We noticed about two dozen people at lunch, and were told that many of the residents like to eat in their room. Mom said it would be hard to make friends if most people stay in their rooms. The activities rooms were large and comfortable, even if the activity is watching the big TVs. There are emergency pull cords in all the rooms, and soon they will be making all residents wear a Life Alert pendants. This sounds great, but a dementia patient (like my mom) might easily forget what that pendant is. Bottom line: Mom liked the American House Southgate. My biggest concern is that this place would not qualify for a VA subsidy, since they offer no memory care.

Representative was very friendly and informative. The facility was clean and welcoming. The apple pie to go was a nice touch.

We don't have much to compare it to, but so far everything here seems very good! My parents are enjoying themselves, and seem happy. One thing I really appreciated was how much effort the staff puts into making the transition to this new style of living easy on both the residents and their families. The staff have all been very friendly and helpful in general. The food is also excellent, I've had a chance to try it a few times myself and I have been impressed!

We toured this facility while we were looking into care options for our loved one. We were very impressed by what we saw here, and this facility was our second choice. It was a nice looking place, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. This facility was older than the one we ended up selecting, and had a slightly more "institutional" feel, but overall it was still a very nice place.

My mother has anxiety, trust issues, and depression. Oak crest in Spring Lake has made her feel welcome and look out for her. Sometimes communication gets crossed, But the staff has Always exhibited genuine concern and care. Quieter facility, VERY clean, perfect size facility for people who don't like big complexes. Big enough to give a sense of private rooms, but small enough to give the personal touch.

We looked at a few places in the area, and I just really like the ambiance of this one. I feel like they do a good job overall with the care. It's a nice looking place, and they always keep it very clean. The staff are warm and friendly, and they have plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained.

first impression great. Love floor plan of bedrooms and size. Pet can visit. Going smoke free, 91 years old needs his cigar outside. Over priced. Get more at Belmont for money except upfront cost.

I really liked, but the rooms that were available were too far away from the rest of the amenities in the facility. She would have had to walk a ways to get to the dining room and such. Tricia Marks is the director, and she is really, really nice. It's in a good location, and the inside of the building is kind of a Western motif.

Some peopel are really happy to be working with elders and for some it's just a job. I would say the majority though are glad to be there. My parents think the activities are kind of cheesy. They might be in their 80's, but they think they're kind of childish and sometimes they talk to them in these high voices which is understandable because they don't really know who they're talking to, but they think it's a little childish. My dad ended up moving in with my mom, which is fantastic. They totally have their minds and it's good, but they're more into conversations, not parties, especially kind of weird parties. When she first got their I went to some loud music thing, it was way too loud and she got kind of rattled. She kind of likes it quiet and adult like so when they throw a party it's not her thing. 3/4 of that place is independent living and 1/4 is enhanced care so that's what makes it do able. They actually have people around there that can have conversations. I told them I wouldn't put them in a place I wouldn't live in myself so they trusted me. I must have looked at 50 different places and this was as clsoe to home as they could get. When I saw this I was like, this is it, it was like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.

Toured, so far high on list but cost is concern.

Really seems to offer a lot for a good price.

It's beautiful, and very nice, although I don't think the apartment is as nice as the one where I am at now but my family isn't as close to this one. When I looked at it, American House had just bought it, it had been senior apartments before and they were just in the process of changing it over.

We only kept her there at Elmcroft for one night before she fell and went to the hospital but the experience with Elmcroft was great on the front end. Matt and Tina were wonderful to work with. We worked with them for 2 months in preparation to move her down to Nashville. I looked at a few other places but I pretty much zeroed in on Elmcroft. It was clearly the choice. It was the best management, the best facility and the best location for us.

Things are going pretty well, surpisingly. She doesn't like her roommate but that's just my mother, she's high drama, she enjoys hating her roommate. American house has been very wonderful saying we can try to get her a different roommate but she didn't want to change. Things are going well, she loves breakfasts, lunches, hates the dinners, she loves it there. I don't know how many activities she does, she's never been a joiner, she goes down and visits and gossips. The care really has been excellent, they're very nice to her, they know her name, they give her her meds, they're always very nice as far as when we check her in and out. I had heard horror stories about american house and I think they were unfounded. I mean it is kinda depressing, the clienteles a little... there are people that have extreme disabilities or are extremely senile, its not real fancy or real pretty but none of that bothers her. I'll give them a glowing report. In the medical field when people hear "american house" everybody goes ughh but it's really not that bad.
