American House

If friend asked I would not recommend. Not enough support staff. Too hard to get anyone and things take forever to get resolved.

Our family had an in person tour with American House Lebanon and overall it was a good tour experience but just not going to be the correct place for our loved one. We were not as comfortable with their set up for services at the time, however they may have made changes since that time.

The cleanliness became a problem due to the inability to keep workers. The quality of with the new company declined - lost staff and staff quit working as a team. The initial staff were friendly but as new staff arrived they (CEO didn't bother to know patients names, but eventually was fired and left). The meals varied again, some issues was not have a chef months at a time. The activities were great, until the director of activities left. The cost went up for lesser value and that is when we left. The overall value as of [date removed] would be a 1. The community lacks amenities and design of newer facilities. In other words, during the transition of ownership things fell apart and almost all of the staff turned over. They kept promising "to get better," but I couldn't count it so I moved my spouses. It is a beautiful old campus in a lovely neighborhood.

American House Bristol is in a nice location, decorated well, rural setting, very patriotic. They need daily activities for the memory care side. Meals provided need more vegetables and less starch and carbs. Fresh fruit cut up small would be good for them. It would be nice for residents to have a cup of water with a lid on it and a straw placed in their room everyday since most of them need water but don't know how to ask for it.

The Mount Prospect Senior Living community needs more staff in all departments. Needs a nutritionist who can assist with meal planning. Needs a social worker or someone to assist family with the transition to assisted living/memory care, Or to a skilled nursing facility - when the senior resident needs more help than this facility is licensed for.

Our family had an in person tour with American House Bartlett and the manger [name removed] was awesome. However we just felt like the place was older and that our mother in law could afford a bit more.

I would caution others to research carefully their options. While I believe America House is on the right path, they are still experiencing staffing difficulties. The rooms were fairly equivalent, but large windowsills at American House won me over. Since then, the place has been in turmoil, with probably 75% staff turnover from the top down. Activities are sparse because of staff at that position either quitting or being fired. Cafeteria issues are prevalent because of turnover and inconsistent meal planning and choices. However, my mother enjoys her friends there, the staff treats her royally, she has a set routine, and at 97 she does not want to move.

The American House staff were pretty helpful and caring. I suggest asking residents and there families how they like it.

As far as assisted living facilities go, American House is a safe place in my experience. They are more inexpensive than most, so you have to overlook a lot of things (cleanliness/care) I feel should be better. They need to keep the bathrooms cleaner and be more receptive to Hospice and work more together with them. They could also do better on communication with family members.

Our family had an in person tour with American House East and I believe that one was outdated and old feeling. It had a regular door to go out to the porch, and the porch had a railing with bars that did t allow for my dad to let his little dog out to do her business. It also offered small apartments with apartment sized appliances. The location available was a distance from the dining room.

My loved one is a resident at American House Riverview Senior Living. I would have rated this facility much higher if it wasn't for the medical team. From the beginning, with only a few exceptions, they have proven to be useless. My loved one's condition/care and assistance needs have changed since she first came to this facility. The staff is not well trained and have made comments that have made my loved one feel terrible. She went from independence to being almost shamed. After complaining, both she and I, things have improved a bit. I would completely discourage anyone who needs medical/ physical care to come to this place.

There's a severe nursing shortage here especially. Certain nurses don't believe there's any hurry to aid a resident!!! I was told that I was going to pay around $[removed]/month..... my first bill was for $[name removed]!!! I Can't afford that.

We toured American House Bartlett when searching for Assisted Living for my loved one. The facility was okay and our tour was good. The cleanliness and atmosphere were good, also.

Sometimes we have to go down to get [name removed] his meals. He is not leaving his bed anymore and needs his food brought up to him. However overall [name removed] is doing good there. We would definitely recommend American House Bonita Springs to other families.

My rating is average. The place looks good. I find the Memory Care staff is split, some are very good. Others are loud and condescending. None of them honor the extra little things they promised prior to move it. They will NEVER take my loved ones outside to the patio area in Memory Care - one of the things that drew me to the facility. The staff in Memory Care seems short staffed. I am finding that they add extra people from regular Assisted Living and Hospice, so the caregiver-to-resident ratio isn't what they really advertised. It becomes very congested in a small area - creates issues and staff seems overwhelmed with the duties during those times and they get very short with residents. Housekeeping of main areas is good. They do laundry once a week and clean the shower area once a week. They don't do daily housekeeping. They have few activities. Communication only occurs when I approach them or they are unhappy with my incapacitated loved one's behavior - which he can't control. They do not seem to understand how to communicate with Memory Care patients. They forget that the people they work with can't remember 10 minutes ago. Meals are 3 times a day, they provide snacks, not enough push on hydration - none at all - a memory care problem. They will not allow family members to sit with their loved ones at meal times in Memory Care, so I cannot comment on the food. My loved one receives adequate meals and snacks - not specific to dietary needs.

The office staff is a bit condescending to the residents. The food quality has been poor since they hired a different cook. The head of the medical team was finally caught and fired for stealing money from residents (my dad was missing money 3 times). The rent was raised several hundred dollars a month because they redecorated the common areas. It's just been a lot of things that we are disappointed with. There are activities and the Senior Center is just behind the American House building. The dining room staff has been outstanding too. I do think my father would be happier if he socialized more. Many of his friends had to move when their rent was raised.

Upon our move in day they did not have any housekeepers. When it comes to the meals, the food is horrible - sandwiches for every meal. The activities are very good, there is no staff employed to do the activities. For the value it is overpriced for this place. There are many areas of opportunity to improve on.

My loved one needed more care than they could give, she could not walk or go to the bathroom by herself, so if an individual person looking into this facility can walk, feed themselves and can go to the bathroom themselves, then yes I would recommend American House Hamilton Place.

I toured this facility and the tour was fine, but the facility lacked curb appeal (primarily landscaping). There were lots of activities, but they were spread out amongst multiple buildings which would have meant walking outside to go to the salon, for example.

So far we are happy with the facility. Overall it's a good place. It's clean, the workers are nice, and I feel like my parents are watched over and taken care of.
