American House

I love most of the staff here who make this place feel like home. Only suggestion is to have one department wash all laundry.

In general I would recommenced American House. The family members need to stay very involved with their loved ones care.. There are only 20 or fewer residents in each building which is nice for residents to build relationships but is harder for activities to be brought to each building. American House would be better for residents in Independent or Assisted Living. Memory care staff is lacking in training. The memory care could use some stimulation for residents such as a fish tanks or bird aviary. It has gotten better but is a work in progress. I have never had an issue with how my parents have been treated, the staff has always been kind and professional.

Everyone was so nice there and made my mom feel very welcome, The staff was very polite and quick to answer any questions I had. They have lots of activities, outtings and family and friend events.. My mom is very happy here

The Beach House has been open for around a year and there has been quite a bit of turnover with the staff. The facility is beautiful and the staff has good intentions, but many just aren't experienced enough to do the job on their own. Some of the nurses and aids are fantastic and treat the residents like their own mothers, but others are rude and defensive. Depending on your situation, you may also have hospice involved for care, oxygen, and medication. If that is the case, you will need to oversee both parties to make sure that they are communicating. I assumed initially that The Beach House would be responsible for everything related to the resident's care, but I quickly learned that there were simple things that they were not responsible for. They won't tell you up front, but you will have to figure that out. The nursing staff is very junior and they have been through multiple Director's of Nursing in the short time they have been open, but hopefully they will fill that position and get the experienced staff that residents deserve. The Beach House has a solid playbook, but some of it has not been fully implemented yet. Read the agreements carefully, ask a lot of questions, and get involved!

All in all the community is nice. The staff engages with residents with care. The food service could be improved. Every meals is mostly a sandwich. This is not good for diabetic residents as they are not great at making smart choices. They eat what is serviced. The east entrance could use grass around the new sidewalk. The property is well maintained and decorated per season.

The staff of American House is excellent. Everyone hard working and kind. That being said, if you need the medical staff you are out of luck. They are hard to find don't come when the help button is pushed and not nice for the most past. I would not choose this facility if you need the medical staff!!!

The staff is great. The building is beautiful and new. There is an outdoor patio so people can be outside but they are still safe. The price is amazingly low. The only problem is the [Removed] director, who treats family members like garbage. Steer clear of her and you will be fine.

The people I met during my tour were friendly. This community seems to offer some nice amenities and activities. They offer transportation and they allow pets.

After meeting with the staff here and discussing my husbands level of care needs we determined that his level of care might exceed what they are able to provide. They had concerns about the ability of what he could and could not do for himself. The staff was very friendly and nice. The community appeared to be well taken care of very clean it was just the level of care they were able to provide.

My parents seem to be fitting in. American House made it easy for all in the transition. It is never an easy subject with your parents. A Place for Mom also got us moving in the right direction. Having all the family being so far away out of state having A Place for Mom giving us community's in the area my parents wanted to stay in and finding the one they wanted to move into.

This community is not up to my standards. The first night of food seemed pretty good. The type of care he is receiving is not what I thought it was going to be. I know they can't watch him as well as I can, but I expected them to take him back to his own room when he falls asleep in someone else's room. Whenever I visit there doesn't seem to be any staff available. We had to hunt someone down to help clean him up after he had an accident. The patients are often unattended. They need to help him brush his teeth. I do not feel good about him staying there. There is no communication with the staff and family members.

When we toured American House Riverview, we were not happy with what we saw. They showed us a couple of dirty apartments. I don't know if it was because they were not expecting a single woman like my mother to be looking at 2 bedroom apartments, or that people had just moved out of these apartments, but they were dirty and it was disappointing. It was not an option for us.

It is very clean and the staff and residents that I usually see when visiting are very friendly and helpful. My loved one has gotten more depressed since being there, but I think that comes it costing her and my siblings so much she can no longer afford to go out and enjoy herself. She's always complaining that the housekeeping staff will come in and make the roommates bed then leavr without making hers. In the amount of time she says it takes for help to come when she pushes the emergency button around her neck she'd get faster help calling one of us kids to come help. When help does arrive they check on the roommate first. As for the food I've had some and while not as hot as I'd like I thought it tasted pretty good. My loved one on the other hand does nothing but complain about it. I like the place and I'm always made to feel welcome , however my loved one it depends on her mood at the time you ask her.

Overall I really like American House. My loved one has only been there a couple of weeks and still adjusting. The only thing I don't like so far is the food. I've eaten there a lot and for every decent meal you get 3 nasty ones. Ham salad sandwich, Asian ribs and the beef pepper patty to name a few. Oh and the Tuna casserole ugh! Other than that I really like it there.

The American House was very similar to the community we went with. This place was nice and kept very clean, but it just seemed less homey. It was not as bright and cheery.

Our experiences with this community have been mixed. They appear to be providing our parent with good care. It is a nice looking community, but they are less than diligent about cleanliness of the actual apartment. It is still a work in progress. The process of Negotiation of the residency contract was very frustrating - a sleazy experience.

Our mom has only lived at American House for 2 weeks so it's a little difficult to give an accurate judgement at this time. But with that being said, her first 2 weeks have been very encouraging. The staff have been very open, friendly and so willing to give mom the best care possible. So far, mom is happy and that is all we ask for.
