American House

When I toured this community it was clean and beautiful. It was more independent living and we were looking for assisted. There was a certain odor that I couldn't put my finger on that I didn't like. The staff was friendly but pushy I felt a sales pressure. They gave us a pie when we left that was delicious.

We toured American House Carpenter Senior Living. We did not have lunch there. The staff was friendly. It wasn't as well-kept as we would have like to see. It did not appeal to our taste.

I had a tour with this community and I did not like them. It had a smell that was not good. Because of the smell I ruled out them as an option for me.

My mother has recently made the move into this community and so far things are going okay for her. The staff have been helpful with the transition and I am comfortable with the care she has been receiving. The one complaint my mother does have is that the meals could be better quality. She does say the desserts are excellent but that they could use some improvements on the quality of dinners. I also wish they would have replaced the carpets before she had made the move in her apartment.

My wife hasn't spent much time here due to her being ill. But the little time that she has been here there have been I have not been overly pleased with the attitude of the administration or the nursing staff. There have been a couple of people in the administration that have been helpful but for the most part, I have not been pleased. I wish they would offer transportation to places like dialysis treatment centers even if it were an additional cost it would make my life easier.

My mom is doing pretty well here she likes her apartment and the staff has been helping her with her transition. She does like going down for the afternoon bingo and she has a special table in the dining room where she joins her friends during lunch and dinner.

They only offer a few activities including bingo and exercise classes. The staff do not seem to be encouraging my loved one to participate in any activities. The food is ok, however they said that we are not allowed to eat with our loved one. The community is clean and the grounds are nice. You need to supply sheets and blankets. This community is close to family.

After touring American House Bonita Springs, I give this facility 3 stars. I was not impressed with the separate dining for assisted living and independent living. I also would prefer the bathrooms in the units were right off the bedroom.

Management is GREAT. I have been in contact with [Removed] for over 2 yrs and it is really nice that we finally got my grandfather into the American House. But for the Med Team that is not American House but is the company for the residents at a cost is not A team. My biggest rule of thumb is treat others the way you/ your family member would want to be treated and just feel if there better training and understand of their jobs, better care could be given. American House has great residents, good group activities and great atmosphere for the residence.

My mother has been slowly adjusting since her move into American house. All of the communities are different, so I can not say that I would really recommend this one in particular. The meals are okay, but they are not geared towards anyone with a special diet. It's been a little bit of challenge. Right now I would say different parts of the medical team there are better than others. In home care are good, but the daily care I have not been very impressed by. Other than that, my mother is doing well and still adjusting.

I had a pretty good tour of this community. For the most part the community appeared to be well-kept. The staff I met was kind and friendly. There were many factors that played into where to place my mother. This community wasn't the right fit her and her needs.

The staff at the American House was very nice but the communication between them was not so good. They were unfortunately completely unorganized, no one knew what was going on. If my mother would make a request, it would take weeks before anything would happen and if it relied on it having to get to another person, you can forget it. Other than that the place as nice, they provided 3 meals a day and had 2 different options to choose from which my parents really liked.

My wife and I are doing pretty good in our new facility. Everything from the staff and upkeep of the community is perfect. I feel the meals are good and bad, some days it is just like institutional food. A new chef could improve the meals we eat. I also have a nurse who assist me well.

She did not like the facility

When I went to visit this place, I noticed that it was not complete and still under construction. I was able to look at a model room. It seemed like adequate space for a resident. I was not given a full proper tour but I was given a folder of information about the community.

Physically, the building is welcoming and well kept although the hallways need updated light fixtures and carpets. Not sure about the weekly cleaning of the apartments-could be more thorough, but the maintenance is quick to respond and that's good. For the cost of the living package , the food should be great, but the food quality and preparation is not up to par and the service is sometimes challenging although they say they are working on improving the wait staff. Supposedly, you can eat anytime between certain hours, but in actuality they don't want you to be late, and if you are, you are made to sit there until they can get around to you. There are no care services unless you buy them additionally. Overall staff puts on a friendly face, but there doesn't seem to be an effort made by staff to make things inclusive and encouraging residents to get to know one another through activities or other ways. I suppose most facilities are about the same and this one is probably one of the better homes, but there is always room for improvement.

Mom was admitted to Elmcroft of Hendersonville on Saturday Feb 6th. She seemed to adjust well, but after several days it became clear she needed more help. She was sent to a geriatric unit at a near by hospital. There, she is being evaluated to see if her meds can be adjusted to make her more comfortable and less mobile (I am assuming). She has good days then a bad night. She is in sundowners most of the night and this is the reason we needed help with her care. Please help her adjust to a new living environment. This is really our only hope. I cant rate Elmcroft above fairly because Mom was there only a short time before being moved to the Hospital for eval.

the main floor and model apartment are very nice. However when we viewed the available apartments ( on the 2nd floor) they were not as nice. and the general cleanlyness of the 2nd floor left something to be desired.Most of the residents we encountered seemed distant and sad. This placeis not for us.

I don't think American House Milford Senior Living was a good place for mom. She needed more help than what they had. She was new there and the residents already had clicks formed. The social director did not do a good job at creating activities and a better atmosphere for her. The facility is nice but they should do better with activities. I paid for service to escort mom and she didn't get that service. She had to walk herself to the main area. Not very pleased.

At American House Grand Blanc Senior Living the food is not good at all. My dad says need to offer eggs and steak. Dads medical button went off accidentally once but no one even responded . That is cause for concern. They do a good job of cleaning at the facility. Definitely some areas they need to improve on!
