The overall experience, cleanliness, quality of care, and the meals and dining was poor. The overall value for cost was fine. The memory care manager got fired during my mother's stay. I think the rest of the community is good She was in memory care and they were lacking at the time

The owners are straggling to keep it open and the residents suffer because of it. I think that this summarize the problem there. The staff are so sweet and try to help but because of management. Their chore is difficult

They have taken away most of the things we did have. Housecleaning is now every 2 weeks and all they do is change the bed and sweep the and throw something in the toilet. The meals most of the time are terrible. They took our dinner meal away from us and breakfast is cereal and eggs that are almost inedible. The halls smell. They say we will start having dinner back one day at a time buffet style. The front desk is embarrassing. The people are very friendly but are not professionals dressed.

No gym as advertised. The only transportation they provide is the doctor appointment and back. Not as advertised at all. I feel later way overpriced for what you get over $[removed] a month is ludicrous definitely come to this place before you consider it

I can make this easy, in the beginning when my father in law moved in it was as great place, I would give every category a 5. Then the facility went through new ownership/management and every category dropped to a 1 or 2. He has moved out.

There are a lot of complaints about the FOOD. That is, the quality and the portions. I have talked to the Food Service Director and the Director about this.. We'll see if things get better...

We were looking for something more than just a room for assisted living, more like an apartment. The tub in the bathroom was step in and that would not have worked for my loved one. Other than that, nothing special really stuck out to me about NewForest Estates.

I was able to have an in person tour and it was not very interesting at all. New Forest did not really stand out, it is in a woodsy area and it just seemed like it needs a lot of repairs.

Apartments are small with very little storage. Dining room was dark.

Our loved one was really happy with the people and the food, but once management changed the switched chefs. Everything became really bland, and our loved one was not happy. He started having to go out and buy his own food.

Please be careful of your first visual of this place. It appears to be small and nice on the surface. My mother was here for nine months. She liked it in the first two months, but then the food went downhill and stayed that way. She constantly complained about the food and so did her table mates. When she would buzz for help it could take anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour for a response. When she left to go home, it took over six months to get our money back and they did not refund everything owed to us with no explanation why. The people in charge are not qualified and the people in the corporate offices do not care enough to take care of their business. Do not stay here!!!! The activities director was great as was the Community Relations Manager. Please beware of many problems at this place.

Sometimes there is no hot water for bathing, laundry, washing dishes. Security issues – no lights outside and in the breeze ways. Gates that don’t lock, “in-house” [Removed]. Large turnover of staff – cleaning, food, maintenance. Sometimes the kitchen runs out of certain food items.

My father is doing okay here at this community . I do have some concerns about the care he is receiving . I can't say this is the best community for him , and his needs . The staff have told me that if he refuses the help they offer him , they are not going (1)force him to do something . I understand that , but I wish there was more encouragement (2)from the staff . The staff tires hard to meet the needs of the residents , but they are (3)spread pretty thin . There are improvement that needs to be made at this community .

I wasn't very impressed with my tour of this community. It wasn't so much the tour that was disappointing, but the facility it self. The community felt like a nursing home, and that was not what I wanted for my mother, and the environment she would be living in. The staff was kind and friendly, but this was not the place for mother and her needs.

Not happy about food served. Can’t keep a good cook. Always looking for a “ Reason to Raise” rent. Exterior could use a cleaning or paint. High turnover on staff members. Kitchen does not look clean. Carpets could use replacing.

Very nice facility, big big for my Mom and follow up did not happen.

I arrived about a half hour before my meeting however I'm sure nobody was really expecting me. The front area was incredibly busy and loud. The young man at the front desk was just totally unprofessional he never followed up on my waiting. I Benchley left without a tour but I could tell from my first impression that I would not want my mother-in-law to stay there. On my personal skill of 1 to 10 I would give it a 4.5.

Had my relative at this location for a year. In this time there have been 3 site administrators, and one ownership change. This is an older facility, there is any ongoing issue with flys in the independent living side and theft from those will key access to the apartments. There are no policies or documentation procedures regarding logging when cleaning staff or maintenance is in a seniors home, no policy regarding not doing work if people are not present, no security cameras in the hall ways, or a system to document grievances from residents including theft to know what is occurring on site. So far 2000.00 worth of property, has been stolen from my relatives room by someone with key access to the apartment. They do a fair job with activities and recently improved the food which is fair now also. They do provide transportation to appointments , Walmart, Braums, and other outings. Currently looking for other accommodations.

Loud, chaotic, in the dining and common area. Phones ringing off the hook, calls being made on speaker phones that could be heard from a room away. Residents seemed like they were cattle being herded into the dining hall. Dad doesn't do well in loud or chaotic places. Strong smell of pinesol in the common area near the dining hall (not good for mom as she has severe asthma and is sensitive to this). Bathrooms in common area smelled disgusting. Residences have the feel of an apartment complex with a few touches thrown in for seniors, such as elevators, no slip walkways, and a dining hall - residents didn't seem very happy. Outside of the dining area/sitting room, we were told the main common areas that qualify this place as a retirement community are outside in the courtyards and around the pool....in San Antonio where it's 90+ degrees for 5 months out of the year?? Library smelled disgusting. 30 minute drive in traffic from our house..not optimal. Staff acted like they were apartment managers, not senior living specialists.
