Wingate Senior Living

Very nice common areas and a variety of activities. The walking corridor with a view of nature is also very nice . The space is safe without feeling too confining .

The Residence at Wingate was chosen for our Mother’s new home after much research and many visits to senior communities. She had lived in and owned her own home for over sixty years. Her decision to sell her home and relocate into an independent senior residence was made because she wanted an easier life style with fewer responsibilities. She wanted a place that felt like home, wide spacious corridors, an apartment where she could bring her favorite furniture pieces, full dining and an indoor garage in a convenient location for shopping and of course so her children and grandchildren could easily visit. Wingate met all of her criteria’s. It’s nestled behind one of Needham’s prime shopping and dining areas right off a main highway. It’s an oasis all of its own. The independent community at Wingate is a lovely building surrounded by exquisite landscaping. It’s adorned with comfy outside furnishings, fire pits and pergolas. Inside the Residence is as gorgeous as the outside. Open spacious foyers lead into large sitting rooms with fireplaces. The feel is very much like a home. The décor is modern which compliments the openness of the rooms. The rooms and halls are open to the outside with many windows allowing the sun to filter through all of the areas. The feel of the outside is brought in and the feel and warmth of the inside is brought out. The Residence at Wingate is bright and cheery which provides a warm and inviting atmosphere. It’s like living in a 5 star apartment complex. The dining at Wingate is similar to a country club. The food is excellent and it also provides the residence with a chance to socialize. The staff is also very professional, warm, inviting and caring. There are many activities provided for the residents throughout the day. They have a gym with a trainer and physical therapist to assist while exercising and to instruct classes. They provide a bus service to various shopping locations and bring the residence on outings. They have a full time nurse in house and also provide weekly house cleaning. Our Mother is extremely happy at The Residence at Wingate. As a family we are pleased because they make an effort to welcome you and invite you to become a part of the community. They provide the residents with a private dining room you can reserve for entertaining your friends and family. Although it's been only a brief time that my father has been at the Epoch at Blackstone Blvd., the staff has provided excellent care. They have been proactive in meeting the needs of my father and family members in dealing with his dementia. It has been a relief to know, that although he can't be living in his own home, that the Epoch is providing him with a warm environment.

Our experience with them was only a short one, but we really loved The Residences at Wingate! It was a nice looking place, and every person on the staff was lovely, kind, and professional. They're just uniformly great people, from the administration down to the aides.

Dad feels comfortable, warm, & safe. He gets along with all the other residents. EPOCH staff is friendly, efficient, and well mannered. Dad loves the food. Everyone in my family feel a lot better now that Dad in a safe environment. Dad was fearful at first, but within days he accepted everything.

We have had a great two week beginning with our Dad here in the Memory Care community. He seems to be transitioning well with the help of a wonderful caring and supportive staff. They have all been great in helping us navigate this foreign territory, from moving in to finding a doctor, and dealing with health insurance issues. They not only look to serve the new resident but the whole family in this new stage of life that is very emotionally charged.

Very nice facility, but believe the new construction will be a problem with my more who is chemically sensitive

I want to praise the staff at Wingate on the East Side for their prompt and compassionate response to a referral that I made on behalf of a patient. They were flexible with schedules, interviews and special requests, and were very adaptable when our plans changed. I was always able to reach individuals there for questions and concerns, and they made the admissions process extremely manageable. I would like to especially mention [name removed], RN and [name removed] for their focused attention and caring.

The entire staff is so friendly and attentive, from the ladies at the front desk to the aides and nurses. They are wonderful! Mom and Dad have been at Wingate for almost a year and we have been very pleased with the care they are receiving. The staff is very accommodating and we have developed a strong partnership in the care of my parents. Mom and Dad are involved in activities through out the day and especially enjoy the music (they even dance!) and socializing with residents in the beautiful dining area.

I consider all of the staff part of my family. They will help you with any request! That are the best!

Wingate is a great place to live when your golden age arises

Common kitchen area is not very clean.

Everyone was friendly and answered all of my questions from my initial visit until the day my mom moved in. It is a very caring facility. The employees know the names of the residents and more importantly treat them with respect. I feel comfortable with my mom living there and feel she is safe and well taken care of.

They offer multiple levels of assisted living care which allows residents to age in place without having to move to another community. They offer a number of activities that benefit my loved one socially. When we toured the community we really had good vibes and good feelings about the staff and the community. My loved one previously had someone who had also stayed here and they had a good experience here as well. The community is very beautiful and very well maintained.

My mother has an anxiety disorder. She doesn't participate in anything. They were all very considerate and helpful to her when she moved in. During the first 2 weeks she had to use her call button due to a fall . They were prompt and caring. She has adjusted nicely even though she's not socializing. The only issue is that the windows are difficult for her to open . I was told many residents have problems with them. The heat AC is also difficult for her to understand and she is often too warm. Her rent went up [amount removed] after the first year.

I'd like to qualify my opinions/experience rated earlier by saying this is based on the memory care unit, I can't speak about the assisted living side, nonetheless , I feel they are valid, maybe more so. Communication needs improvement. Activities staff is above par Nursing seems to be lagging. Messages don't always get to whom they are intended. All in all, I wish I had chosen a different facility

Getting started with wellness was a lot of miscommunications. We are set up now and love the Nurse practitioners and PT people. The place is very clean. They also clean his room often and change sheets. Everyone is so welcoming. From cleaning staff, PT restaurant staff. They all say how fun my dad is. Now that it is set up care is great. But messy in the beginning they were calling the wrong people, not updated care plan.... once it was sorted out great. Admin was very communicative while making a decision then I feel like we needed an orientation or something. It was a huge learning curve to find who to speak to about what. They love it the meals and dining. I love the soup! They enjoy activities and staff knocks on the door to get them. The value comes from my dad being happy there and family gas piece of mind. If there could be a better reason for a 10 I would like to know it. I just think they should have an orientation for loved ones with wellness so communication lines can be set. And maybe review after a month once we understand needs

Nothing is perfect, and that is the reason for the 4.5s. They do a phenomenal job in making sure residents eat and are accounted for at every meal time There is nothing really that they could improve on, and we would absolutely recommend Wingate Residences to other families.

The most significant consideration was geographic location. The resident, my father, was already residing in a senior living facility, called [faculty removed]. Wingate and Wingate have building adjacent to each other connected and by a covered hallway. His current partner remains in [faculty removed], and it's possible for them to stay in contact, have dinner, visit one another, by having my father live in Wingate
