Greensfield of Perkiomen Valley

Greensfield has attractive room rates, but when additional services are required I believe they charge unreasonable prices for the services rendered. I find that the nursing staff has poor communication skills, several times I received no call back when requested.

The senior staff was totally awful!

The senior staff was totally awful! The head person fired every single staff person the year my parents were there. The senior managers totally turned them off. Not only was the staff constantly turning over, I had brutal occasions with the head manager who was awful to deal with. She was very friendly at first of course, but after a year decided to up the monthly charge by hundreds of dollars for eating lunch which they had been doing since they got there. They were eating three meals a day every day for a year, and suddenly we had to pay more. It was wonderfully laid out, and nice and new.

Review for The Village at Penfield

The food is ridiculous. I am told by my brother that there is no seasoning, the foods ate repeated multiple times a week, there is no selection. The rooms are very small unless a considerable amount of money is paid. There is no separation of living and sleeping space. There is no shower in most of the apartments unless the price is increased by more than $[removed]. The cleaning is lacedasical, beds are not made daily. There is absolutely no medical staff there...not even a LPN. There are very few activities. I would not recommend this assisted living facility for anyone.

This facility was very disappointing.

The facility's campus is beautiful. Well maintained. The rooms are spacious. Some of the staff can benefit from additional training, including the director of nursing (DON). Improvement needed with management and especially the DON. The facility has good potential.

do not recommend

the amount of staff and care is awful. Your staff members might be only 2 but they also have to plate the residents meals and wash the plates and all the dishes. So each meal (3) has taken about 1 1/2 hours off the care of your loved ones. Staffing is bad because Deane Hill pays their employees the least amount of money so sometimes in the facilities there is mo one looking after your loved ones at night. Staffing does not stay there long.

Improvements needed

Helpful to know- they have been purchased by another company, major transitions taking place, loss of some great staff, termination of several who were not performing as they should have. 3-5 amazing staff remain who are really trying to keep things running properly. The facility is beautiful! Memory care is chaotic at best and jeopardizes the health and welfare of the clients. Some of MC staff spend too much time on their cell phones, are unprofessional, and simply do not want to work (respond to clients needs, etc). I have had to assume responsibilities for the care of my loved one that should be provided by the unit caregivers such as laundry, personal care/bathing, cleaning of room, monitoring of meals/consumption, ensuring participation in social activities. etc. I am exhausted and not able to spend the quality time with my loved one that I hoped to spend.

Potential for great service but going through major administrative challenges.

A beautiful facility, peaceful surroundings however from an administrative and caregiver standpoint, the service is chaotic at best. Acknowledging that they were recently purchased by another company, and transitions are difficult, I understand some mishaps however, direct service to clients, particularly in the memory care wing, is so lacking that it has impacted the health and welfare of the clients. I would be happy to submit another review in about 2 months once the full transition has taken place and a new normal is evident.

The people that give out meds are not there all the time and they don't really check to make sure that the right meds have been given. The food is so bad my sister is spending $200 a week on food. We plan on moving my loved one out in the coming months.

Good for the price

One level, right size overall. Upkeep and lack of follow up from facility when my mother has issues or needs medical type attention and follow up from the outside they say they take care of it all but they don't. My family still has to coordinate and make sure she gets to appointments or when she's needed x-rays or urine test or things like that they're not taking care of it. You get what you pay for.

Rough and disrespectful aides, dirty shower rooms and bathrooms

My Mom lived at Atria then it was sold and became the Village at Towngate, that is when things started to go downhill. My Mom had an aide that was very mean and disrepectful and gave rough showers in a filthy outdated shower room, trash overflowing the trash can and a dirty toilet usually filled with something smelley. The whole place uses the toilet in there. [date removed] my Mom suffered a heart attack while fighting in the shower with this aide. I did report her and nothing was done. She does not assist those who need help toileting at all and lets them sit in wet diapers and also won't come when the call button is pushed. Not a healthy place any more unless you can live with NO assistance. Management is lax and uncaring. Mom went to the hospital then rehab then hospice then died. No one from the place cared kept her mail and overcharged an extra two weeks.

Overmedicating and Lack of Care

If you put your loved one here please visit them regularly. They have a record of overmedicating patients, staff turnover is so bad that one poor nurse has to watch an entire floor at night and the aides sleep at night instead of checking on people. I pulled my loved one out after five months of complaining, a final fall that led to loved ones shifting to death and still overmedicating after 4 months. Facility staff are fine but care is very low and scary. Oh they don’t like ongoing complaints or you will get put out! They find a reason not to keep your loved one. Glad I did! After the last fall, loved one could not eat solids anymore, forgot how to walk and barely talked. They don’t take falls seriously and will say “everyone is a fall risk”.
